- Kingoftherings, on 05/28/2008, -2/+238This video is kinda old, I've seen it before.
What they do for these mass physics videos is they have Crysis take a screenshot of every frame, because they get less than 1fps, and they take all the frames and play it back at 30fps. Thats why none of the mass physics videos of Crysis have any sound. - inactive, on 05/28/2008, -4/+169I think my computer steamed a little while watching that video.
- Bureau9, on 05/29/2008, -12/+85my graphics card had a meltdown just processing the flash video...
- inactive, on 05/28/2008, -16/+87Damn, i wonder what kind of system he has. You probably need a monster to run that smoothly
- NikoKun, on 05/29/2008, -0/+64Even though it's not done in real time, I'm still amazed that Crysis's engine can do that...
Usually in a game, 1 car = 1 boring explosion, multiple cars = multiple seperate boring explosions.
But with Crysis, the sum of the explosions seems to add up in a much more elaborate single display of pyrotechnics. Fire, shrapnel, smoke, it's all so realistic!
The Crysis engine is just awesome! Makes me wanna try loading the game back up, and combining a few explosive barrels. - Shabow, on 05/29/2008, -22/+84Running Crysis is like dividing by 0.
It doesn't work. - H1tchh1k3r, on 05/29/2008, -1/+54My eyeballs are now bleeding from the pretty explosions.
- benroy, on 05/29/2008, -3/+49I thought this was leaked footage of Michael Bay's upcoming movie,
" One hundred and Twenty Minutes Of Explosions ". - gk128, on 05/29/2008, -17/+56Dugg for Alice In Chains
- mindsnare, on 05/29/2008, -2/+39Are these videos done by rendering at like 1 frame a second and then sped up in the video? Or can the engine genuinely do this on a good machine?
- DeskFlyer, on 05/29/2008, -2/+38He borrowed some time on Blue Gene just to make that video.
- gfxlonghorn, on 05/29/2008, -3/+36No it definitely works, it just approaches infinity, which causes your computer to internally combust.
- TecK415, on 05/29/2008, -6/+37They must be those Chinese trucks.
- googooly, on 05/29/2008, -16/+45***** IT WE DOING IT LIVE
- Harbinger67, on 05/29/2008, -1/+30Brilliant!
/guiness guy - jaydoj, on 05/29/2008, -11/+37That was Alice in Chains, and in my opinion, there's not one ***** thing about them.
- l0k0, on 05/29/2008, -1/+27This isn't in real time. Read "KingoftheRings" comment nested under Gameist's comment for a simple explanation.

Here's a video of Crysis running with the Very High tweaks with a very moderate machine @1280x1024.
Notice he is using an x2 4400, a Nforce 4 motherboard, 2 gig of DDR RAM, Creative Audigy, and an 8800 GTS. This is by no means a NASA machine or some Alienware rig. It includes many parts that are over two years old, and runs the game without missing a beat, despite the FRAPS overhead. Oddly, my comp does roughly the same just fine at 1680x1050, but since you said "it doesn't work" it must be true... - mreddie, on 05/29/2008, -12/+36It's not metal.. It's Alice in Chains. Very Grunge for you kids out there.
- Myonosken, on 05/29/2008, -1/+23WHAT?!
Did you just compare the explosions of Crysis (a game which has only survived because its so ***** pretty) to Halo 1!? - whoreable, on 05/29/2008, -3/+24RAM. He has it.
- bfrank72, on 05/29/2008, -4/+25Wait. His computer didn't explode?
- newsound6, on 05/29/2008, -1/+21psh, rockin a 32 inch samsung with KRK RP-8's studio monitors set up in surround with a matching sub, son.
Grow a beard, get a job. - newsound6, on 05/29/2008, -4/+24God I love this game. Bought a new system to run it, quad 2.4ghz, 4gb,10krpm HD, 2 sli 512mb 8800 gt runs all settings on high perfectly, slags on very high. The multiplayer is the biggest buggiest bitch of all time though, crytek needs to get their ass in gear.
- shondell, on 05/29/2008, -3/+22WOW! The graphics of Crysis never cease to amaze me.
- nkoi, on 05/29/2008, -4/+19improved version with barrels:

- zephc, on 05/29/2008, -2/+16one ***** thing about AIC: Lane Staley is dead :(
- h0merg0mez, on 05/29/2008, -0/+13No sound, except for the generic modern rock soundtrack, which is a must.
- DraxusD, on 05/29/2008, -1/+14god damn I wish we could play it like that in real time
- br0wnstar, on 05/29/2008, -27/+39It's hypnotic.
But why does everyone think ***** metal music is perfect for things like this? It just makes me want to perform a self-lobotomy. - Shuk, on 05/29/2008, -3/+15When seeing Crysis in DX10 with max settings, does anyone think: this is pretty much 'good enough'? I seriously can't fathom thinking that this game will look like crap in 5 years, although crazily enough, it probably will.
- orlyfactor, on 05/29/2008, -2/+13Better than his last movie: 90 minutes of pure *****.
- Schmich, on 05/29/2008, -0/+11My eyes want an HD video or pic of it!
- macbookhair, on 05/29/2008, -1/+11***** owned baylat... what kind of nub buys all that ***** and doesn't complete it with leet speakers and monitor
- S4MF1SHER, on 05/29/2008, -0/+10Must be a lot of Pinto's stacked there
- falkonv7l, on 05/29/2008, -1/+11AIC is awesome, end of discussion.
- helikopter, on 05/29/2008, -2/+12you're a horrible person
- skoda, on 05/29/2008, -0/+9I accept that you're right about the way these videos are made but i'm curious as to how they can look around at the scene whilst it's going on, do they sit through the whole thing at 1fps?
- mreddie, on 05/29/2008, -3/+11Damn Straight.
Love me some Alice in Chains. - jdevine420, on 05/29/2008, -3/+11LOL @ AIC being ***** metal music
- franklymister, on 05/29/2008, -3/+11From Wikipedia:
"Following the demise of his band Sleeze in 1986, vocalist Layne Staley formed Alice N' Chainz, a band which he said "dressed in drag and played speed metal".[1] The new band performed around the Seattle area playing Slayer and Armored Saint covers.
In early 1991, Alice in Chains landed the opening slot for the Clash of the Titans tour with Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer, exposing the band to a wide metal audience."
Sounds like metal to me...
Not that there's anything wrong with that. - Gravey9, on 05/29/2008, -1/+9who is he FatLoser?
- inactive, on 05/29/2008, -4/+11That didn't really look like five thousand of anything... but cool nonetheless
- Dracusis, on 05/29/2008, -3/+10Yeah, but I like to actually play my games, not watch as they slide by at a few frames a second.
I have an E6600 at 3.4Ghz and an 8800GTX and I still can't play crysis at over 40fps at native res without making it look like someone vomited all over the screen. If you'd kept your system more or less up-to-date the days of being distracted by stuttering games were long past until Crysis arrived. It was meant to be this work of engineering brilliance but in reality, they just reached too far. people didn't buy the game because of the high performance requirements and they blame piracy? Crytek are fools, they went after the high end and cried when they realised how small it was. They deserved everything they got with this game, if they survive to make another then mapybe they'll make one that's playable by industry standards on a mid-range machine this time.
And seriosuly, who has an 8800 and doesn't have a decent widescreen monitor? - down4twenty, on 05/29/2008, -3/+10One of my favorite AiC songs
also, these videos are done at very low FPS, then sped up in video editing. Sort of like PS3 tech demos - enzobot24, on 05/29/2008, -0/+7Now all they need to add is that lead refrigerator from Indy 4.
- Hobbes24, on 05/29/2008, -1/+8i think i need to change my pants after watching that video.
- inactive, on 05/29/2008, -2/+9at least get the quote right
- Myonosken, on 05/29/2008, -1/+8Wait what
