      What they do for these mass physics videos is they have Crysis take a screenshot of every frame, because they get less than 1fps, and they take all the frames and play it back at 30fps. Thats why none of the mass physics videos of Crysis have any sound.

Regardless of FPS rate it should be calculating physics on a system time passed clock, not on a frame-by-frame basis... so once you recompiled everything frame by frame, it would be playing in fast forward.

          But you're right, without it you can look around freely and smoothly but the falling objects would be really slow.

      Usually in a game, 1 car = 1 boring explosion, multiple cars = multiple seperate boring explosions.
      But with Crysis, the sum of the explosions seems to add up in a much more elaborate single display of pyrotechnics. Fire, shrapnel, smoke, it's all so realistic!

      The Crysis engine is just awesome! Makes me wanna try loading the game back up, and combining a few explosive barrels.

      Here's a video of Crysis running with the Very High tweaks with a very moderate machine @1280x1024.
      Notice he is using an x2 4400, a Nforce 4 motherboard, 2 gig of DDR RAM, Creative Audigy, and an 8800 GTS. This is by no means a NASA machine or some Alienware rig. It includes many parts that are over two years old, and runs the game without missing a beat, despite the FRAPS overhead. Oddly, my comp does roughly the same just fine at 1680x1050, but since you said "it doesn't work" it must be true...

      I have an E6600 at 3.4Ghz and an 8800GTX and I still can't play crysis at over 40fps at native res without making it look like someone vomited all over the screen. If you'd kept your system more or less up-to-date the days of being distracted by stuttering games were long past until Crysis arrived. It was meant to be this work of engineering brilliance but in reality, they just reached too far. people didn't buy the game because of the high performance requirements and they blame piracy? Crytek are fools, they went after the high end and cried when they realised how small it was. They deserved everything they got with this game, if they survive to make another then mapybe they'll make one that's playable by industry standards on a mid-range machine this time.

      And seriosuly, who has an 8800 and doesn't have a decent widescreen monitor?

Bought a machine to play it and went and bought a legit copy to play online........and was completely disapointed. They can't blame piracy when the #1 reason not to pirate - online play - is completely useless in the game. I tried to go to the main site to check for fixes, only to find they don't really have a main site. They point you to cymod, where everyone there is also bitching they can't get online.

        Everyone seems to be waiting for the next patch due out tomorrow, yesterday. Crytek needs to get multiplayer working now! Once thats up and word gets out, along with more people getting up to date systems, they should see a bump in sales.

          Pirating games hurting our industry. You don't steal a car because you never intend to drive it on a free way, you shouldn't do the same thing with a video game.

          If you can't afford it, be man enough to go without. I said Crytek were off-base about their piracy claims, and I stand by that remark because I think word-of-mouth about the extreme requirements did way more damage to Crysis than anything else, but I do acknowledge that piracy is a huge problem, and piracy of Crysis may be been a result of the huge preformance requirements, but none of that makes it right. Anyone who condones it for ~any~ reason whatsoever is a wanker, it's wrong, and it's killing the PC gaming industry.

          The only time cracking a game is ~ok~ is if you already own it and want to remove some kind of DRM. If a game has DRM that you don't like, again, be a man and go without and write a letter telling them why you're not buying. Pirating a game in those circumstances sends the wrong message to the developers, and will only make things worse in the long run.

In the video that l0k0 posted it clearly shows someone with two year old hardware playing the game maxed at 1280x1024 and it doesn't look like garbage - it's a bit slow in the vid but as he mentions it's because of Fraps recording it; he usually gets about 25-30fps, which is completely acceptable for the hardware he's running it on.

        Also, in my rig I have an E6850, 2GB PC2-6400, 8800 GTX and I get about 30-35 fps average running the game maxed at 1440x900, so it's definitely possible to run it smoothly provided you aren't trying to play at a ridiculous res.
