He had failed his previous attempt and had to put even more weight for his last lift to challenge for gold. I think he broke his personal best by something like 10kg in that single lift. He was in tears. T_T

Then, a year ago, she was in a car accident and in the hospital he promised her he would go to the Olympics nonetheless. Ever since he took her picture with him to competitions.
Their love story is even crazier, because he was a native Austrian, she (a native German) saw him on a comepetition on tv, tried to get into e-mail contact with him, they fell in love, got married and he moved to Germany. 3,5 years ago he changed his citizenship from Austrian to German, also he because he didn't get the support he wanted from the weight-lifting association in Austria.
They had re-runs of his gold-winning competition and his medal ceremony - I was close to tears each time they showed it.
He's 25, just as old as I am, but I feel like he's lived more lives than I have. - em00guy, on 08/23/2008, -1/+8I find it interesting that people are so critical of Bolt. He's a showboat to be sure but he's done something that no one else has ever done. His celebrations are actually muted in comparison to Phelps and co. In interviews he's also quite restrained and respectful. In my humble opinion, being god amongst titans affords you a little self congratulatory excess, be your name Phelps or Bolt.
