- serif69, on 02/10/2009, -1/+6The Olympics are an international, amateur athletic competition. People watch for the competition, displays of athleticism, and human interest stories. Who cares if they don't spend billions on it? Give it a halfway decent venue and televise everything. Done. The athletes will still train hard, pour their hearts into the competition, and put on a hell of a show. If you're worried about the amount of money spent on pomp and circumstance, then you've lost sight of what the Olympics are about.
- kd420, on 02/10/2009, -2/+6How can you be so inconsiderate? Just so you know, some of us find it hilarious.
- iamstudip, on 02/10/2009, -1/+5I heard they're going to replace the gold medals with chocolate ones wrapped in gold foil.
- usuallyjusta, on 02/10/2009, -0/+4I'm still looking forward to it, plus hopefully by 2012 the world economy will stop dragging its feet
- dangerdooms, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2Don't give one to Phelps. He'll just get the munchies and eat it.
- Alli3388, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1I think most people will take it, for the benefit of not making citizens suffer!!!
- kentifer, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1The Vancouver 2010 Olympics are supposed to cost 1.7 billion Canadian (~1.4 billion US)
- devfeed, on 02/11/2009, -0/+1Awesome. I've never paid so much attention to this before. http://homemasters.info
- joerad010, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1My God....that short sucked!
- SamCook1, on 02/10/2009, -1/+1I think the 2012 games will be great. I wonder what will be done for the Opening Ceremony and if it can top the Bejing one?
- robbo90, on 02/18/2009, -0/+0I don't really see how you can justify paying out so much money for 3/4weeks worth of world class athletics. Yes i agree that having the Olympic will be absolutely amazing and i for one would love to go and see them, but in terms of an investment surely it is probably one of the worst financial desicision a country can make - especially in times like these.
Yes the Olympics will bring extra tourists etc. but surely not on a scale which will write off the billions spent by the government and funding to host the games. - moman, on 02/10/2009, -0/+0Makes you wonder if the Michael Phelps deal was really about marijuana or if the Kellogs fat cats just want to make more money.
- bwonder, on 02/10/2009, -3/+2We'll never beat this summers Olympics anyway. Might as well host them in a high school gymnasium.
- daschupa, on 02/10/2009, -1/+0Why is this the first thing that came to mind?
http://www.hulu.com/watch/34464/saturday-night-liv ... - bdejong11129, on 02/10/2009, -1/+0How about we just do it in the ruins in Greece, nothing need be done just make due with what is left. Or just say F-it and do it all against a green screen and CGI in all the beautiful stadiums and scenery.
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -6/+2I hope they get rid of those stupid paralympics. The athletes are ***** and the whole thing is just one big depressing mess.
