- abarysh2, on 08/22/2008, -3/+123I want Dodge Ball.
- diemunkiesdie, on 08/21/2008, -4/+106Best description: Motorcycle Racing (also known as Moto racing and Bike racing) is a motorcycle sport involving racing motorcycles.
Dear lord, I don't think I could have figured out what motorcycle racing is without their description! - sajidf, on 08/22/2008, -3/+78What about team Calculus?
- whoomp123, on 08/22/2008, -4/+68anything with horses: NO
anything with judges: NO - Aeric, on 08/22/2008, -3/+60If it doesn't take any physical skill, then no, it should not be an Olympic sport.
No card games, no board games, no motor races. - down4twenty, on 08/22/2008, -3/+55rugby, cricket, bowling, and squash and karate make sense.
- Mercury821, on 08/22/2008, -5/+55Ultimate! (Frisbee)
- Cfahooligan, on 08/21/2008, -1/+47Cricket is a huge game between South Africa, India, Australia, and England. Those are the majors anyway. It's a pretty big sport to be denied.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -7/+51Cricket would be HUGE for the Olympics, although North American interest would be fairly minimal. Ballroom Dancing, while it makes zero sense as a sport, could be a good ratings earner, depends on if all those dance related shows last to 2012 ;p
I'd personally love to see an MMA event :P :P - upick, on 08/22/2008, -7/+48For the love of God not Chess! Softball was boring enough
- shutaro, on 08/22/2008, -3/+34What about cooking? You know, Iron Chef style...
- socalslaker, on 08/22/2008, -1/+32If Ballroom Dancing is added just to get good ratings then they should also add stripping which is considered a sport and would get more ratings. Who has the most money at the end wins the gold.
- Chewie67, on 08/22/2008, -1/+25anything with motors: NO
- kiiwii, on 08/22/2008, -0/+24That's fine, but... what's the point?
By that logic, crab walking could be an olympic sport. - ahhell, on 08/22/2008, -8/+32Chess is NOT A SPORT!!!
- FonzsXe, on 08/22/2008, -2/+23BRIDGE?! WTF!
- MaruLono, on 08/22/2008, -0/+20What about Mongolian Horseback Archery??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTH5ulomVg8 - inactive, on 08/22/2008, -13/+33Dude. They HAD to get rid of baseball because it is just so damn boring and no one has heard of any of the players.
- leighlee, on 08/22/2008, -1/+20Where is the Sentathalon and Murder-Checkers?!?
Sorry... NBC has been showing to many commercials for The Office. - starskii, on 08/22/2008, -9/+28They should include carjacking and housebreak-ins as Olympic sports at the next games so that South Africa can actually win a gold medal next time around
- chiorpheus, on 08/22/2008, -3/+21I'd go for Olympic surfing ... and its sister sport, defending yourself from an Olympic-sized shark.
- HeDiggMe, on 08/22/2008, -0/+17Wrong direction altogether. IOC needs to get rid of half the sports they already have.
- chrissku, on 08/22/2008, -2/+18How is it that speed walking is an olympic sport and golf isn't??
- MrChunks, on 08/22/2008, -1/+17There's something about engines that doesn't really fit well with the olympics for me.
- Ocelot13, on 08/22/2008, -2/+17better hope they dont make "pick your father out of the group" an olympic sport! theyd still lose
- Aeric, on 08/22/2008, -2/+17Because if you have 2 people of equal talent, the fastest motor wins. There is no horse racing in the Olympics; Polo isn't testing the animal. Cycling... how did that even come up? the cyclist is the one doing the work, not the bike.
- Chewie67, on 08/22/2008, -0/+14No "sport" involving a motor should be part of the Olympics. It's a test of athletics, not how well you can tune an internal combustion engine.
No motorcycles
No speed boats
No auto racing
These are more tests of engineering than physical prowess. - DiggItalia, on 08/22/2008, -0/+14Unreal tournament! :D
- shutaro, on 08/22/2008, -3/+17MMA would make sense... They had something similar in the original Olympics.
- shutaro, on 08/22/2008, -3/+17I'm with you, there. Tiger Woods should definitely be an Olympic sport, instead of speed walking. I, for one, would look forward to every four years watching Tiger Woods get his gold medal in Tiger Woods.
- Zachiatrist, on 08/22/2008, -5/+18Lacrosse
- jessjesscali, on 08/22/2008, -1/+14yeah, those are cool. I like the surfing event too but seems like that would limit the host cities to coastal areas.
on the other hand -- dumb ones: bowling, chess, bridge and ... underwater sports like snorkeling??? what the heck? - busybrain, on 08/22/2008, -0/+12Teather Ball!
Four Square!
Kickball!
Capture the Flag! - jboitnott, on 08/22/2008, -1/+13What about team dice?
- FonzsXe, on 08/22/2008, -1/+13cuz theres tons of mathletes!!!
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -3/+14Racquetball!!!!
- digggggggggg, on 08/22/2008, -1/+12because it requires you to get off your ass and actually do something?
Seriously man, you picked a really bad straw man for your argument. - Soulbow2, on 08/22/2008, -0/+11As much as I would rather watch motorcycle racing, or any form of motor racing, it should not be in the Olympics. The Olympics are about good athletes, not powerful motors.
- Aeric, on 08/22/2008, -2/+12I'll put it in terms more easy for you to understand...
If you aren't breathing heavy when its over, ur doin it wrong. - MiniCooper2007, on 08/22/2008, -4/+14You forgot rape and murder.
- phoenixshard, on 08/22/2008, -1/+11I'm surprised cricket isn't in there either. Marital arts is another one I'm surprised at, that's something that is popular the world over. The other three that I'm kind of surprised they haven't adopted is golf, a summer version of speed skating with roller blades and some kind of rock climbing competitions.
- MaxIsBored, on 08/22/2008, -1/+10I actually agree. Anything with judges make for a bias game. I disagree that you can non discriminatively make decisions upon things that are so different. people have different routines, and patterns. Gymnastics is pretty much a 'I think this is better' therefore, those who know the judges have an upper advantage.
Excluding horses is senseless, however I don't think horse riding should be an Olympic sport, as it's just as much the horse as it is the Olympian competing. - noahgelman, on 08/22/2008, -1/+10Integrating through parts deserves a gold medal
- shutaro, on 08/22/2008, -0/+9@kiiwii: I'd pay money to see the 100m crab walk... And, really, that's what the Olympics, today, are about... Right?
- MaxIsBored, on 08/22/2008, -0/+9This is the most amazing discovery ever.
- DiggzDE, on 08/22/2008, -0/+9Would give me a new reason to watch the Olympics other then just for Women's Beach Volleyball
- Frejesal, on 08/22/2008, -1/+10Motorboating, on the other hand...
- Slackdragon, on 08/22/2008, -0/+8The spirit of the Olympic is the celebration of peek physical perfection. As in going back to the Greek aesthetic. Bringing in horses, engines or sedentary "sports" such as chess, poker and Quake III, in my opinion, doesn't cut it.
It's a corruption of what the Olympics is supposed to be about. Just because it CAN be labeled as a "sport" doesn't mean it's necessarily worthy of being an Olympic sport.
Just because driving a car in a large oval requires concentration and some physical endurance doesn't mean it's worthy of being an Olympic sport. See the emerging pattern here? - pigfarts, on 08/22/2008, -0/+8Just about all the olympic events would be more interesting if the athletes had to be pissed before they could compete.
/half-cocked balance beam - Guder, on 08/22/2008, -3/+11FYI there is a International Competition for Bowling going on right now. Currently its going on in Thailand in like a week or two. There are over 80 nations that bowl in it. And no, the US don't dominate.
