Honestly, this dude's accomplishment is more impressive than what Phelps did because the 2 earlier events that he won are far more competitive than swimming. - DirtyBinLV, on 08/23/2008, -2/+28This is at least as impressive as what Phelps did. A sprinter can run in 3 events, the 100, 200 and the 4x100. Bolt just set world records in 100% of them. Swimming happens to have a lot more similar events. I'm guessing there are many times more competitive runners in the world than there are swimmers. And how long have men been trying to run faster than each other? How long have they been doing the butterfly?

Phelps is a great swimmer, no doubt, but it didn't feel that great considering how similar a lot of the events were for swimming. Running is a sport which has been around forever and is much more competitive. It's a sport which almost everyone can try for, where as swimming requires expensive facilities which people from poorer countries don't have access to. For me, Bolt has been a lot more exciting than Phelps was

Very classy unlike the two Lopez brothers in tae-kwon-do who has no class (Mark Lopez didn't bow at the end of his match) and are sore losers (Steve Lopez filing a complaint because he didn't win gold - wah-wah).

Bolt already said he wasn't aiming for the world record 100m (but broke it anyway), he just wanted gold.
If being the fastest person on earth, by a sizable margin, is not a good reason to showboat....when is?
Why can't we just celebrate another historic gold medal performance, without bringing up new-found all american hero Phelps into the equation. No doubt he's annoyed at his performance in the 100m (it should have been an EASY second), but he's obviously good friends with Bolt. I was happy for him, he definitely had the fastest 100m in that race and I'm glad they let him run the last leg to bring home the gold.
