Orkut users stealing Flickr photos! - Google does nothing
flickr.com — Many Orkut users are stealing photos from Flickr to use as their profile photos or in their Orkut photo album. Requests sent to Google for removal of the photos have gone unanswered, and the photos remain.

- bull, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Some of the photographers have had their images stolen and placed on other sites, it's a fact of life when placing your photos somewhere for all the world to see. The photographers realize this and accept the risk - but they do fight. When sending a request for removal to other sites, the photos are pulled almost immediately - but not with Orkut. Google really needs to get their act together and start moderating their users.

People use the systems in place for many things, but should be really make it the responsibility of those who create the system to police the the users of the system? I would say no. At this rate we will have our ISPs filtering content . . . Oh wait, we already do! - beavioso, on 10/17/2007, -0/+3This is far worse than the title implies. In this instance, they're stealing pictures of little kids and creating profiles as them. It's just plain sick and despicable. Pedophiles are certainly in the running as the worst form of life.
- Dred242, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2If you're a flickr user, make sure you check and reset (if necessary) the permissions for your flickr photos....especially photos of your kids.
- rapidfirewife, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1EntrepreNerd, the issue is Google's reluctance to help those of us who own copyrighted material in getting it removed from their site where it exists as stolen information. The response you get when you ask for their help in getting the images - and these are images of 9 month olds, 16 month olds, 3 year olds - removed is basically equated to a shrug, an "oh well." Meanwhile, where the images are posted in the first place, there is a clear copyright.
I agree, the policing isn't necessarily the responsibility of the provider. However, once illegal activity is pointed out, they should have systems in place to help victims solve the issue. And their current system is almost impossible to navigate through.
That's the issue.
