- az1972, on 10/11/2007, -12/+8Slashdot is an interchange but Digg is end of the line? No way!
- ToadLeg, on 10/11/2007, -8/+14I refuse to be located right next to Apple and FaceBook.
- tech42er, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Wow! Another cool map of the Internet! Just like Xkcd's map and the Periodic Table of the Internet.
- cyberdork, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I also don't get it, since digg gets 5 times more traffic than slashdot.
- anteyekon4myst, on 10/11/2007, -6/+41Waiting for comments from pissed off people who feel their internet affiliations are not represented.
- PRlME, on 10/11/2007, -2/+46Where the Fuq is MILF Hunter and Bang Bros!
They need to map the red Light District- willcooper, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3HA, genius!
- chris9902, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17That's not the real internets. Where's all the porn? there should be a stop every 1cm
- ByteGuerilla, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Glad to see the author of the picture did not break either of the rules.
Doubly glad to see no idiots spam-breaking the rules. - sooperpitcher, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Comments and complaints to the author of the map can be posted here:

- jamesallen74, on 10/11/2007, -13/+2Isn't Al-Quieda supposed to be in there somewhere?
- naio, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Look for the Al-Jazeera site.
- UGM2099, on 10/11/2007, -5/+93This is closer to the London tube map than the NYC subway map.
- maximusGeek, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9or the DC Metro ... just more complicated.
- OwdenBowden, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5Agree. I live in the baked apple and this map is way too pretty to be from NYC.
- gropo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Correct. New York's subway map resembles male genitalia with numerous EKG cables attached.
- psygnisfive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Actually it looks more like the Tokyo subway system. Look at the "You" in the middle of this one, compared to the Imperial Palace in the middle of Tokyo:
http://www.tokyoessentials.com/images/tokyo-subway-map.jpg- leoedin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5From the map, the original author was japanese, so it probably is.
However, the concept of that map stems from the London design - b0wl0fud0n, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Yes. I lived in tokyo for a year in 1999. The design in the photo is nearly an exact aesthetic match to the map I remember. Even in this new map, you can see Shijuku (MSN), Tokyo (Facebook), Shibuya (Youtube), Ikebukuro (MSN), Kita-Senju (Yahoo) as major stations. Here's a more official version of the map where you can see a stronger resemblance: http://people.reed.edu/~reyn/tokyo.subway.gif
- leoedin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5From the map, the original author was japanese, so it probably is.
- leoedin, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4The design for the London map was an original, and is considered a design icon by many...
The original map was drawn by Harry Beck in the thirties: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/beckmap1.jpg- Nerfdude, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2oh, go suck a cockfosters. original subway maps.
- paolo1984, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It is the Tokyo Metro subway map
- facebook, on 10/11/2007, -3/+51that nutjob from alaska will be happy to see this
- maherjabr, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1Microsoft is going to sue because this is an obvious rip of the pipes.
- flanigan, on 10/11/2007, -14/+82Pointless.
- robojerk, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1/agreed
- Klaatu14, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1Totally...
- ClarkWells, on 10/11/2007, -10/+0Truly. Alot of time and money waisted.
- psygnisfive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Are you referring to your comment? Because you could just quietly bury as lame instead of coming in here to tell us you don't like it.
- tsteele93, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I disagree. First it is clever, and cleverness should generally be rewarded. Second, I found it interesting to see some sites I was not familiar with, and based on their "subway line" maybe I should check them out. Kudos to someone for doing something clever and entertaining and even - perhaps - useful for some folks.
- noliberalbull, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Glad to hear I'm no the only one who's getting sick of these 'OMG Somebody took a chart we all know and put the internets on it instead' stories...
...though the first map one was kinda cool... it's getting old now. - animaniacsrule, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It's done as a tool for the consulting firm that made it, and as a part of the firm's portfolio of work. A lot of ppl do ***** that's "pointless" to me and you b/c we're just ignorant of the creator's intent.
- sherifftruman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12How come the lefty blogs are on the right and the righty blogs on the left??
- avalenci, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32Its Tokyo http://subway.umka.org/map-tokyo.html : The green thing in the middle is the imperial palace ... hehehe
- dolemite5005, on 10/11/2007, -8/+3hehehehehehehehehehehe
- jariyakariya, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Yeah, I might have dugg the story if it was accurately titled as Tokyo Subway Map of the Internet.
- tlgjames, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I knew that looked familiar, and I've never been to NYC.
- SilkSteel, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8People have waaay too much time.
- Light11, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9whats the big deal. u got time to post on digg, he/she has time to make that map
- tyywebb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1He/she? C'mon.
- animaniacsrule, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It's a piece done by an firm in japan, informationarchitects.jp, for its own portfolio i guess. it's all written in the "legend" area of the map.
- Light11, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9whats the big deal. u got time to post on digg, he/she has time to make that map
- lesty420, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2Hey i see a few places i can put a bomb
- qred, on 10/11/2007, -4/+0Yeah, but Youtube's goin down.
- mr1337, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Since when is Facebook Web 2.5? Seriously, I didn't get the memo. Just because they have an API doesn't make it 2.5. It's still 2.0 to me.
- merreborn, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3The "junction" boxes with their 0.2 - 2.5 ratings and meaningless weather symbols are by far the lamest part of this 'map'. What the ***** does 0.5 with a little cloud next to it mean? What's the difference between 2.0 with two suns (wtf?) and 2.0 with only one partly-cloud obscured sun?
I'm down with the cute "mapping the internet" meme, but declaring a site "Web 2.5, cloudy with a chance of rain" is just stupid.- Beelzebub, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Look at the low right corner, it's called a legend, or a key, which ever you prefer.
- Light11, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3uh, hello.. 2 suns means site is going well. party cloudy means its changing.
- tsteele93, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1rtfm
- MixedSpleens, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I think their calibration is at least .5 off on their web-versionometer Facebook reads as a 2.0 on mine, and myspace reads 1.5 at best. They say 2.5 and 2.0 respectively...
- merreborn, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3The "junction" boxes with their 0.2 - 2.5 ratings and meaningless weather symbols are by far the lamest part of this 'map'. - bluenullity, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I see no subculture sites.... I guess it is working as intended then
- idonthack, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22ch is kinda subculture.
- sammykeyes, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It's amazing how many Google services there are. Especially when you don't see some of the rival services coming from Google's rivals.
- jarrubes, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10buried because digg isnt the most massive and important
- ambo33, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I was trying to make sense of this damn map and ended up just getting frustrated and unnecessary anxiety...thanks...
- ScoobyG, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Would be nicer with actual links.
- cowboy_k, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6You mean like this? http://www.informationarchitects.jp/slash/ia_trendmap_start.html

- funkmachine, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Truly fascinating. Dugg for making me look at that map for 3 or 4 minutes.
- awoeonip, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4livejournal is mentioned twice, once on the social networks line, and once on the tools line.
didn't think that anyone would give two ***** about that site. - eh270, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12yeah that looks nothing like the NYC subway map. has the author even been to new york?
- pintomp3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1red state and malkin are to the left of huffington?
- arunforce, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Inaccurate, I was hoping to find MySpace and it's 0.5 website.
- turbovince, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1MySpace would probably be in there if their goddamn site was STRUCTURED. I tell you, spaghetti code behind MySpace!
- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -0/+4ummm myspace is on there........
- tsteele93, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Yeah, it was small though. I hate myspace, but it is still innaccurate to make it small. It is a huge "subway station" on the internet.
- giveer, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5I realize I may be missing it, but thumbs up for excluding myspace.
- mk2ja, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Yeah... you just missed it. Its there. I know you don't care, but its on the intersection of the light blue and black tracks, just below MSN.
- diabolicdiablo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11The internet is a a series of tubes.
/sacrasm- astericks, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Hahahah....am I the only one who noticed this comment?
- turbovince, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1Ok, what the ***** is Baidu and why is it as big as Apple/Microsoft ?
- Light11, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2its like chinese google
- manitoba98xp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1China's equivalent to Google. Their biggest search engine.
- ClarkWells, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Yea but it is still not anywhere near the level of Microsoft or Google.
- Treoinmypocket, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Why did someone bother to do this?
- bartofdahammer, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1its the tokyo map
- pabut, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1This is cool looking ..... totally meaningless ... but still cool looking.
- smacksaw, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Too much time on my hands, its ticking away with my sanity
Ive got too much time on my hands, its hard to believe such a calamity
Ive got too much time on my hands and its ticking away from me
Too much time on my hands, too much time on my hands
Too much time on my hands- fleischner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It's brave of you to prove you know Styx lyrics...
- vinsanity023, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5This is actually a copy of the Tokyo Metro subway/railway map. Not NYC.
- Saracor, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Where's all the porn? Sorry...not accurate without it.
Also...no World of Warcraft? And why is Apple so bloody close to me...don't own a damn thing of theirs...
Inaccurate! Buried! - j0hnglist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1look harder even though its not wearing a funny hat and a striped shirt. myspace is right under MSN.
- hmunkey, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2And why isn't Google in the middle may I ask? Without it most likely none of these sites would have ever been found.
- gropo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5My map of people who insist on categorizing websites according to this trendy "versioning" meme:
Longterm Relevance {-------} Them - realdeal83, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0Wheres Digg?
- MatchStick, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1um, this is based on the old map from the 70s.
- arbulus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4It's a series of tubes!
- addatoffice, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1interesting but it would have been cooler if it was made click-able..
- cowboy_k, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Source of the image (along with PDF download, clickable version, etc.) from Information Architects Japan:

- Nefi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1How the hell is this new york's subway?
http://mta.info/nyct/maps/submap.htm
That's the NYC Subway.. totally different.- angelrendon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Yeah... this is much more akin to London's tube map. This is nothing like our subway map. It's also lame.
- roneewong, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1whoever did this has A LOT OF TIME TO WASTE
- LxRogue, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2This is actually pretty neat, how sites fall into multiple categories at the intersections. What's the name of the black line?
- zipzipzipz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1i don't see digg but i see reddit.
- techsmack, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1It resembles more closely the Paris and Tokyo subway systems then New York
Paris: http://subway.umka.org/map-paris/line-9/la-muette.html
Tokyo: http://subway.umka.org/map-tokyo.html
New York: http://www.dcs.gla.ac.uk/~ramesh/Maps/NewYorkSubwayMap.gif - citydragon, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0What the hell's "Wallmart"
- Treoinmypocket, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They sell "wall stuff" there...
- Skunkhair, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4GAH! This sucks. Me and my friend have been working on a subway map just like this one using the London Underground (a far more superior system). I was inspired by a poster that did the same thing with musical artists using the Underground. They used influential artists that impacted music as transfer points. Was going to do the same thing with our Web map. The joke of it all was that the Underground is known as Tubes.
- quicksilver1023, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Pretty sure that's the Tokyo subway map... it even says "Information Architects Japan" at the bottom, and the "You" is the Imperial Palace :)
- Cathartik, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0He's/She's right, its a Tokyo subway map.
- origclubsoda, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Oh boy, they internet is "like a set of pipes"
