- paperbacklizard, on 07/25/2008, -0/+11As much as I'd like a chance to laugh at the weirdness of a decision Cher made, I don't think Chastity qualifies as a crazy celebrity baby name...
- rancemo, on 07/25/2008, -0/+10Not Frank -- just coffee and tobacco. But tobacco is a vegetable, so it doesn't count.
- nerdzero, on 07/25/2008, -1/+10He's not a musician, but Penn named his daughter Moxy Crimefighter Jillette: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/06/04/entertai ...
- Jwoey, on 07/25/2008, -0/+9For which Kobe beef is named after.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -2/+11LOL,,,,Moon Unit :(
- xDrFunkensteinx, on 07/25/2008, -0/+9"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible." -- Frank Zappa
- thedealwentdown, on 07/25/2008, -0/+8People make a lot of fuss about my kids having such supposedly 'strange names'. But the fact is that no matter what first names I might have given them, it is the last name that is going to get them in trouble. (The Real Frank Zappa Book)
- rancemo, on 07/25/2008, -1/+8Diva's full name is actually Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen Zappa. The writer should at least get the absurdities correct, if he's gonna write about using the chicken to measure it!
- steve9924, on 07/24/2008, -1/+8I almost think that crazy names for musicians ca actually help. I read up on some research & a child with a weird name is prejudged to be "weird".... which I think in some cases can actually help as far as celebrity is concerned. I doubt a kid named "moon unit" would do well in a redneck school tho ;)
- Mr.Gone, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6What? No Blanket?
- ferrisoxide, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6Word to the misinformed, Zappa was a notorious tea totaller.. drugs aren't required to be weird.. or to have an imagination. And Zowie was a boy (now calls himself Joe I believe)
- supertommy90, on 07/25/2008, -2/+8wow. moon unit?
- jerryterhorst, on 07/25/2008, -2/+7this just in: paula yates HATES condoms.
- Cowboy1015, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5I once dated a girl.
- thedealwentdown, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5... Zappa’s eccentricities were not born of narcotic drugs; a Zappa feature in a 1976 ‘Suosikki’ Magazine article says it all:
Q: Do you have a drug problem?
A: Yes, with coffee.
Q: With coffee???
A: I'm an absolutely sober person. I don't consume alcohol. I don't smoke weed. But I drink gallons of coffee. - Xondar, on 07/25/2008, -3/+8It's not "Fran" it's Frank Zappa...
- kingp, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4If her name was Muffin Diva, then that would explain why you aren't dating her anymore...
- WordsnCollision, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Dweezil was named after his mother's baby toe.
- Annix, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4I don't think condoms are of much concern to her now...
- Rapax, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Penn Jillette named his daughter 'Moxie Crimefighter'
- gzappia, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4seems she also hates her newborn children as well
- ufaithfull, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5Francis Bean Cobain is odd too.
- drpleau, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5I would like to name my kid Seven.
- meruru, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Though it seems it be pretty popular around Digg
- sooperspook, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Whats wrong with Apple?
Sounds like a nice name to me. - kitsua, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Diva Muffin Zappa?
Not only is that very cool, she's also pretty hot. Good job. - kitsua, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Frank Zappa never took drugs, forbade his band members from taking them and thought that anyone who did was stupid. This was during the sixties. He also railed against hippies, who's blind following of fashionable, hokey new-age philosophies he abhorred and ridiculed at every opportunity.
"Frank, why did you call your son Dweezil?"
"It could have been worse, I could have called him Ralph" - cquilliam, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4Wow, this many comments without mentioning the name:
Robert'); DROP TABLE Students;--
Sorry to all the xkcd haters - secrity, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Wasn't Chastity a common name at one time?
- mogebier, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4What??
Someone named their kid "Error establishing a database connection"??
HEATHEN!! - fuzzynyanko, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3"Zowie" isn't too bad, but Zowie Bowie? I guess it'll depend on her personality
- smacksaw, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3True, his most important song inspired Jim Davis to plague us with 20+ years of tired Garfield cartoons about Mondays.
- steve9924, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3hahaha... I think he actually should get the award for "most famous musician who doesn't deserve their celebrity status'....
- Rotzooi, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Diva should be made honorary member of http://www.muffdivingclub.ie/
- flydaddyophus, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Zappa did not take drugs or drink alcohol and had campaigned against drug-taking since the 1960s. He also didn't permit his band members to take drugs on the road.
Zappa was famous for saying when asked about the ridiculousness of his daughter's name Moon, "Consider for a moment any beauty in the name Ralph."
Despite his love of groupies, Zappa was known to be a great family man. When he died, he was married for more than 30 years. - GhostFreeman, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2I named my kid Robert'); DROP TABLE Students--...
- mimigins, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2lol Zowie Bowie
- colosis, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3by girl you mean your mom right?
- steve9924, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2ACtually, Zappa drank more coffee and cigarettes in a week than most people consume in a month. He called smokes and coffee his "food". To me, those are drugs.... maybe not the psychedelic variety, but definitely mood-altering
- Elranzer, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Moon Unit Alpha and Moon Unit Zappa.
- YinofYang, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Such interesting names or bizarre, although there are a few that might be construed as normal. It's possible that tossing down Scrabble tiles and using whatever shows up, is still the popular method of choice for celebrities. Fifi...ahahaha, reminds me of little fluffy puppies.
