Basically everyone 18-22 is walking around with a gun in the streets (Mandatory military conscription from 2-3 years unless you're Muslim, Christian, or Orthodox Jew) unless they're on their day off. It's pretty much a second amendment buff's wet dream, and it's a major deterrent for terrorism and crime.

It's really a bitch to carry around and there really is no need unless you live in the settlements. When most soldiers get home they lock their rifle at home and continue on with their lives until they need to get back to base.

And if you think it's a deterrent in Israel, why are they such a hot zone for violence and terrorism? It's not a deterrent, it's a survival tool and method of self-defence.
