- smoothmedia, on 10/12/2007, -281/+1031Actually, God and Satan are tied with ZERO people killed, since neither of them exist.
- MikeFromAmerica, on 10/12/2007, -30/+475God FTW!!!
- Woodpecker, on 10/12/2007, -50/+464That's not really surprising though. When was the last time the Satanists went on a Crusade or a Jihad?
- Lixie, on 10/12/2007, -17/+410Well, what can I say. God is an overachiever, and Satan is too busy rockin' out with all the cool bands.

- ozroy, on 10/12/2007, -63/+292This is the thing I have never understood about religious people. God isn't a very nice person. If you actually read the Old Testament and Satan is by far the better person. God wanted us to remain mindless worshipers and punished us whenever we strayed from that. Satan is the one who actually gave us consciousness, self awareness, and the ability to think for ourselves, but Satan is the Evil one.
I know what existence I would prefer - Bob042, on 10/12/2007, -22/+196@smoothmedia
That's why it says "in the bible". - CaptPlanet, on 10/12/2007, -13/+176Well, I guess I'll play the Christian here and say that this kinda shows two things:
1) God was always in control. Like, in the Bible with Job, Satan had to get God's permission to do horrible things to him. I suppose this just means God was able to stop Satan from killing people (not that that necessarily justifies God's killings)
2) Satan doesn't really want to kill people, he just wants to draw them away from God. Satan didn't go to the Garden of Eden lookin to massacre Adam and Eve, he went there to tempt them. I mean, if Satan were to kill people, it'd probably be because they angered him, meaning they were godly/religious, meaning killing them would only send them to heaven. Or something.
Keep in mind I am by no means a Christian, so don't bash me for playing "devil's advocate." And yes, that was a pun. - BunnieLebowski, on 10/12/2007, -13/+164I'm sure satan has killed more people than that. He's just doesn't get caught. what a sneaky devil
- RealSurreal, on 10/12/2007, -30/+167You kill 10 people and your the worst villain ever, kill 2 million and your the savior of man? how does that work out?
- wickedawsome, on 10/12/2007, -4/+110We'll have to bring in Kratos.
- alwaysmc2, on 10/12/2007, -31/+132Now could we have a graph of who created the most people? :P
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -28/+126If god were perfect why did he have such a drastic personality change in the New Testament as opposed to the Old one. Why did God need to sacrifice his only son? For what, to prove to who, Jesus was God. So it was basically self-mutilation that redeemed our souls. God is a funny guy.
- saikhan, on 10/12/2007, -12/+110Or maybe he just wanted to create a comparative chart based on research and allow the viewers to formulate their own opinions?
- DreKor, on 10/12/2007, -9/+101and if you want to get the the root of that.... God created Satan. Oh Snap FTW.
- Nydas, on 10/12/2007, -11/+101Wow. What a great rebuttal. You sure showed him. And, to top it all of, you have shown me the light!
Yes, that was sarcasm. - Hoogie7Dowser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+89Can someone list out the 10 men killed by Satan? Surely it can be done with such a small company of men. If you get killed by Satan, do you go to Heaven? Can I assume if God kills you, it's because he isn't very fond of you, so you're going to hell?
- wootbeaner, on 10/12/2007, -15/+96HE KILLED US OUT OF LOVE!!!
- nekitip, on 10/12/2007, -17/+92We need a War on Gods.
- cafzal, on 10/12/2007, -40/+109@woodpecker
This chart doesn't even include all the people who have killed themselves in the name of god. That would be tens of millions more I suppose. And those would be real lives lost, not just Biblical ;) - aznhalf, on 10/12/2007, -12/+80God kill steals and uses aimbots. Hax
- cafzal, on 10/12/2007, -18/+85And imagine how many people have died in the name of god... that would be truly mindblowing.
- radu79, on 10/12/2007, -9/+75The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of 10 million is statistics.

"the devil has killed everyone on earth except for those that have gone to heaven, since he was the one that tempted adam and eve, and they were the ones that threw away immortality (so to speak) for the entire human race."
If you want to blame Satan for tempting Eve, why do you not also blame God, who created Satan and placed him in the garden, where he, in his infinite wisdom, KNEW exactly what would happen? Thus mankind is condemned to death and Hell because that's exactly what God *wanted* to happen. Anything less paints God as fallible and lacking in wisdom.
Besides, that one person could throw away immortality for the entire human race makes no sense, theologically speaking. God's the one who decides these things, being the (supposed) creator of everything. He could easily have said. "Adam and Eve, verily I say unto you, you have disobeyed my arbitrary rule. You have eaten of the fruit of the tree of knowledge, of which I commanded you not to eat even though I knew you would anyway. Your punishment will be to bear no children. Instead, you shall be banished from the garden, and I shall create new humans, and I shall removeth the tree, that they might not eat of it. My will be done." That he didn't, and instead decided to condemn all of humanity for the sins of two, makes God look like a cruel bastard.
Wow, your god is either an idiot or a total dick. Either way, he's not someone I'd want to be associated with. - gilbes, on 10/12/2007, -16/+74People don't realize the clever and outright incorrect rhetoric about Satan. According to the bible Satan is a servent of God, all angels are fallen or not. He has to be, he doesn't have free will or any power (except in Revelations when it says God will give him power in the final battle). Anything Satan does he does at the direction of God. If Satan was not Gods servent, God would not be ominipotent. And if you do not believe that you can't be Christian (or other religion in the Abraham tradition) since it is one thing you need to believe to be a Christian (or Jew, Muslim etc.).
The reason people are lead to incorrectly believe Satan is a dipolar evil opposite of God is because people need to have a villian. However, the bible teaches us God is everything, good and evil. We are special because has has good for us if we do good simply stated. - dreicher, on 10/12/2007, -10/+56@mc7winkie,
Do you have anything new to add? You said the EXACT SAME THING in http://digg.com/tech_news/Why_are_geeks_often_atheist - pkulak, on 10/12/2007, -16/+60Country and freedom exist. It's a minor distinction, I know...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+53We need to get some athiest suicide bombers to even the scores a little, everyone strap bombs to their chest in the name of... uh... Einstein... or something
- mattxb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+46If you take creationism literally, then God is responsible for everything, and he killed everyone by making us mortal, but of course if you believe the bible then we are all immortal anyway
- Darq1, on 10/12/2007, -6/+49BOOM. HEADSHOT.
- Jammie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42The 10 people the devil killed were the ten sons and daughters of Job, and the devil only killed the because God allowed it. The devil killed them, because he bet God that Job would rebuke God if everything was taken away from him. So the devil killed his sons and daughters, rained fire down on his sheep and servants and robbers stole his camels. In the end Job continued praising God, and all his stuff was returned to him.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+51Perhaps.
But I'd say he understands it better than you do.
Or do you have some well researched rebuttal to the submission?
Perhaps some quotes from the Bible to support your comment?
No?
Then I'd say you guessed wrong. - Foliot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+41God is an awp-er.
- HunterTV, on 10/12/2007, -2/+40Satan sets them up, and then God kills them for it, so really Satan should be getting "assist points."
- inf4my, on 10/12/2007, -2/+39Im surprised at only 2,000,000 I mean wat about flooding the entire planet and killing everything except noah's ark.
- dakotatypes, on 10/12/2007, -10/+46If you accept the entire protestant christian Bible then you must accept that man killed himself:
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
If you only accept the Old Testament or Torah, then you come to the same conclusion:
Genesis 2:9
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:16-17
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
This is the KJV, if you don't like it, the verses in most other translations say basically the same thing.
http://bible.cc/
Most people would not consider eating the fruit of any tree to be evil, but the rub lies in the fact that it is a choice of 'not God' which is defined in the Bible/Torah as sin. Therefore with man's choice of 'not God' he kills himself. While the immediate precursor to death of man may be varied (act of God, act of Satan, act of cholesterol), according to the Bible/Torah the root cause is the sin. - Tenlow, on 10/12/2007, -5/+41You know, __% of all statistics used in arguments are made up on the spot.

"One day you will be held accountable for the way you speak of God and Christ so flippantly."
Ah, the old "do what my god says or he'll hurt you" argument. Threatening non-believers with divine punishment if they don't fall in line isn't a very good way to convince people, you know.
"Soften your hearts and try and understand."
I understand completely. It's just a shame that you don't. - R34C7, on 10/12/2007, -24/+57The Bible was written by God, so of course it is a little slanted. If you really read between the lines God is a fascist and cruel bastard and Satan just wanted to chill and have a good time. One day Satan stood up to God and told him he was a prick and the all powerful God got all pissy and banished him from heaven then wrote a book about him to make everyone hate him... (God has a really bad temper)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+46How the hell do you extract the figure of 2,038,344 out of the bible? 0.o
I'm not a fan of the bible and organized religion, but I'm even less of a fan of ***** data. - carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+32except his dead family.
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+34That quote is by Josef Stalin. Irony. And there was no 10 million in the quote. Just leave it out. It sounds much better when you say millions.
- EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30The data is from here: http://dwindlinginunbelief.blogspot.com/2006/08/how-many-has-god-killed.html
- Toloran, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31There is text to back it up. It is called "The Bible." Try reading it some time.
Remember: Even if you aren't religious, the Bible is still a book and there is nothing stopping you from reading it. - dirtyfrog, on 10/12/2007, -4/+31@greywolfexcel
"Eternal life is granted to those that believe in Christ"
What about everyone that was alive before Christ? That's not really fair to those that were alive for the more than 3,000 years before Christ was born. - arbiterxero, on 10/12/2007, -11/+37you're quite right.
Kill one man, you're a murderer, kill a million and you're a war hero.
God is the world's most decorated veteran?
-not meant to diminish the sacrafices of the REAL veterans, merely to avoid producing any more veterans, or at least as few as possible. - quazywabbit, on 10/12/2007, -31/+57@mc7winkie
actually there would be less war and violence since no longer would there be fighting over the "right" religion. Sure not all wars or fighting would stop but less would. for example without religion we might not have WW2 since there would not be any Jewish to put in camps. - BlackAle, on 10/12/2007, -9/+32@mc7winkie
yes, I think without organised religion the world would be a better place, I get sick of the argument that withough religion you can't have good morals, I'm an atheist and have very strong morals, unlike many religious people that just blindly follow whatever morals are laid out to them. - DiggingDeep, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25He kills cats too!

Edit: Oh, and I'm in your folder stealing your files http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/hprajani/phun/ - AnteChronos, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26@l0tharnt
"Think of this from the standpoint of God - how about I make a creature in my image to do my bidding and will and every whim and command...oh wait he already had this..their called Angels. He made Man to have their own free will and choice so it was Man that condemned themselves."
This is akin to pointing a gun at someone's head and saying "If you disobey me, I'll blow your brains out" and then claiming that they have free will.
Actually, no, I take that back. This is akin to dropping a book on the ground that says "Do the stuff this book says or some guy with a gun will shoot you", and then disappearing. Then, every time someone disobeys the book, you wait for them to die a natural death, and start shooting their soul/spirit in the head repeatedly and painfully, while saying "You had free will, and you blew it! What, you had no proof that the book was legit? Too late now, sucker!"
"God gave humans free will to do as they please. There would be no point in making a new race of humans and God starting over again."
So here's my question, and it has two parts:
1) Why didn't God punish only Adam and Eve, and let their children remain in the garden until they screwed up? What's the sense in punishing the unborn for the "sins" of their parents? Would it not make more sense to let everyone attempt to live in paradise, and to sink or float on their own merit?
2) Why does God even need us to obey him in the first place? If he wanted creatures to obey him then, like you said, he had angels. Why give us free will and then get upset about the clearly foreseeable consequences?
"I don't know which god you are referring to, maybe Zues or someone else but mine is amazing and I'm glad to know him."
I still say that, from a logical point of view, your god is malicious. Here's a really simple example. Let's say that I decide that I want some new friends, so I build some robots that obey my every command. But that gets boring, so I make some more that have random-number generators that allow them to make unexpected choices. Then I tell the robots "Do whatever you want, but don't cross over that red line on the floor" even though there's nothing inherently wrong with crossing that line, and even though I know that, based on the design I used for their random-number generator, some of the robots would cross that arbitrary line anyway. So I wait and watch, and as soon as one of the robots crosses the line, I stomp on it.
Makes me sound like I'm a little off my rocker, doesn't it? -
