- adz999, on 10/11/2007, -11/+304Am I the only one who notices that it isn't actually a rear-view mirror, rather a side-mirror
- bking, on 10/11/2007, -5/+215You guys are all missing it. If you look closely, the lady in the care behind him has an iPhone.
- reiner15, on 10/11/2007, -6/+192A woman thinking what the heck is he doing instead of driving?
- codyman, on 10/11/2007, -8/+193Question: "What's in your rear-view mirror?
Answer: Alcatraz and a woman that looks pissed that the guy in front of her is slowing down to take a stupid picture of his rear view mirror.... - roastedbagel, on 10/11/2007, -12/+176A strawberry with a clock!
- Sepeteus, on 10/11/2007, -6/+133What's so special about the camera?
- jubilee123, on 10/11/2007, -5/+127wtf is this?
- Torx, on 10/11/2007, -11/+92That would be a better picture if he just got out the car, turned around and took the picture. Ya know, just saying.
and it wouldve been a little safer, just a little. - mattmcm, on 10/11/2007, -7/+67Direct: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1210/590402233_37952d0021_b.jpg
- lcmatt, on 10/11/2007, -11/+62Thats a wing mirror not the rear view (Rear view is on the windscreen) or it is here in England anyway.
- bemaniso, on 10/11/2007, -8/+55http://i19.tinypic.com/53tuouc.jpg
That pic is a bit more interesting - skjede, on 10/11/2007, -0/+39http://www3.baylor.edu/~Michael_Korpi/images/Jurassic.01b.jpg
- mrgreenjeans, on 10/11/2007, -0/+26I found Waldo.
- Richardgm, on 10/11/2007, -9/+31...alot of *****...
- sladek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22its a wing-mirror, not a rear view mirror
- Error601, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Then he would just have the same picture every San Francisco tourist takes. I've got one. I still think it's an edit and not a real photo anyway.
- sandeepg, on 10/11/2007, -2/+20Come on...sure you don't wanna open the window first?
- deanau, on 10/11/2007, -6/+21I can do that too
http://flickr.com/photos/dean-barnett/445820710/in/datetaken/ - 574lk3r, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17the point of the pic seems as valid as the point of this post.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16My ***** Sony Cybershot from 2004 can take pictures as good as that, i'm assuming most basic digital cameras around $100 today could.
- magixx2, on 10/11/2007, -9/+22Looks photoshopped, everything is in perfect focus, that seems weird to me, but then again I'm not a photographer.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15Hmm...why would you want that camera? anyone can take that picture
- Firehed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12You've just described, in not so many words, the difference between a picture-taker and a photographer. You know, the use of interesting composition, subject placement, depth of field, and all that good stuff. The difference between a picture to remember what happened and a photo that you'd want to print off and hang on a wall because it's actually nice to look at.
- tds5016, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13In response to everyone talking about the "objects may appear closer..." statement it is only legally required on the passenger side mirror because it is a convex mirror, which does make things appear farther away because its focal point is farther out making the image appear smaller in size, but not in relative proportion to other things in the mirror. The driver's side mirror is a flat mirror, meaning you don't get an image reflected that is smaller, so car companies are only required to place this image on the passenger side mirror, and not the driver's side mirror.
for more information about convex mirrors: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convex_mirror - MikeonTV, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Big wow. anyone heading that direction in SanFran can do that
- Roundbadge, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10You had me looking, you .....
- MannyHills, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11That's only on the passenger side
- peterwschlamp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8actually, who are those 2 people seated in the very top right corner of the photo????????
- Zinthose, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7The "object are closer than they appear!" message is only printed on the passengers side mirror as it is a concave mirror. Other wise I would also be thinking "Photoshop!" here.
- Infekted, on 10/11/2007, -6/+13seriously who's digging this? LoL.
- Disease, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7That's only on the passenger side window.
- Steyr47, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I think it's that the one car is about (?) to get clobbered by the trolley.
- Johnagain, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Question - look at the cars in the wing mirror, parked by the side of the road - the drivers side of the car is at the curb, yet it is a 2-way road (double yellow line...) Can someone in SF tell me why that is?
* My car does not have side view mirrors anymore. I will now call them Wing Mirrors! - lazyrussian, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Looks like it's right out of a fantasy novel - alcatraz that is.
- Angostura, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5and in England, it would be the passenger taking the photo, of course.
- foomandoonian, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I just wasted waay too much brain power trying to figure out why this post has over 1400 diggs! Seriously, it's not that great a photo...
- kelchm, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Yeah, its just something a moron that know nothing about photography would say,
- shortarabguy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Could have been... But that's about as likely as finding a bicycle that turns with the back wheel and pulls with the front wheel... It's San Francisco, so all cars have the driver's side on the left...
You know, to keep continuity with the rest of the country. - jongarber, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Oh... a joke... =[ i was excited
- LethalAmbition, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9lol he called it a windscreen
- bobdobolena, on 10/11/2007, -7/+11Nope... Plus, I'm not really sure if this image is real.... Don't most cars have the whole "Object will appear further than it is" engraved on the side mirrors? I know mine has it on both side mirrors. Some older cars only have it on the right side....not sure about this pic....
- jhuebel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Frankly, my amazement comes from how impressed others are of this picture. There's nothing particularly special about it.
- Klarth, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Narrow aperture, small depth of field
- TannerLD, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Thats only on the right mirror....
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"***** in the mirror are closer then they appear!"
- JLam1, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5That's only written on the passenger mirror, you goddamn ***** dumbass.
- shortarabguy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"Absolute basic" you could probably get for a little cheaper, but 100 sounds fair. I absolutely hate hearing ignorant chime-ins like "I'll take that camera!" when even a child's camera could have taken that photo. The reason that 10+ megapixel cameras with 12+x optical zoom and tons of other professional-grade features are sold at Best Buy and other unprofessional stores is that imbeciles believe that spending enough money will circumvent any skill that they should bother to get over time.
If you're bad with photography and refuse to take a class, get the absolute ***** digital camera that you can and just take pictures while at the same time taking risks with technique and style. You'll learn what works, what doesn't, and what's absolutely stunning. - GilliamOS, on 10/11/2007, -0/+31. On the right side yes, not the left. Don't believe me? Go look at your mirror.
2. New mirror glass is that clean. If you wipe your mirrors down after a wash to prevent spotting, they will look like that. - jordanf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Doubt it's photoshopped. The reflection of the car itself lines up with the actual parts of the car we can see. Also, not everything is in focus. The mirror itself is out of focus.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6I knew I recognized that name from somewhere.
