There's tons of stuff like this if you take a look around DeviantART. - chromogenic, on 10/12/2007, -17/+53it's debatable how much "creativity" you need to make good paintings. it's just a matter of how well you can use a tool (i.e. a paintbrush).
- Kbennett, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36DeviantART makes you realize how many insanely creative and talented people there actually are out there. This was some great work as well.
- Dean129, on 10/12/2007, -9/+43These pictures are totally awesome. I love the one with the horses coming from the womans hair. Great photoshopping.
- mrops, on 10/12/2007, -7/+39Already down ??
http://www.duggmirror.com/ - rsampaio, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33guy with hands burned really has a big wow factor
- LordLucless, on 11/07/2007, -0/+26I wonder if Pete thinks that adding a one-line insult to the end of each of his posts strengthens his case?
- PradaPete, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30maybe true for screen graphics but GIMP has nothing for serious print designers.
It's a bit like comparing a tracker software to Logic or Protools - it might have "everything" for computer nerds but lacks key features for actual professional artists.
Sorry, but GIMP will never replace Photoshop - insovietrussia, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22The server isn't down, referrals from Digg.com are just blocked (this isn't the first time they have been dugg today).
Just copy/paste the URL and all will be well. - DocXango, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21It takes multiple steps to do a simple drop shadow. Don't get me wrong, I use the GIMP at work because my company wont shill out for Photoshop. However, I feel seriously GIMPed whenever I have to use it instead of PS.

creativity is the ability to conceive of an idea or image. craftsmanship is the ability to use a tool deftly. combine those two talents and you've got some good art. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20way to try to build an argument and then completely tear it down with your next post. how about some logic? "it's debatable actually how much "creativity" you need to make good composites." followed by "only if you judge paintings by their prettiness, not content."
now, correct me if i'm wrong, but shouldn't a good photoshop composite be judged on its content? sure, you can judge it on prettiness, but then that would be, basically, an analysis of the person's ability to use a tool (just as you proclaim for painting). and just like you proclaim in painting, if you judge the content of a photoshop composite you see where the creativity is. seriously, you try to make a point and then when someone says the same thing about painting then you completely destroy your original point trying to argue against the person's counterpoint. excellent debate skills! :P - nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20There's something strangely erotic about a woman pouring blue paint on herself. Damn, I think I may have just contracted a fetish.
- agjimenez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Or http://www.worth1000.com That's where most of these came from, I believe. Great site, but you'd think with all that photoshop talent running through their servers, they could design a better looking site. Meh.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16then, by all means, a painting is merely a matter of time and eagerness, not creativity. seriously, think about your original statement and then think about your rebuttal to chromogenic's comment. do you see the logical flaw in your original argument when taken with what you posit in your rebuttal to him? i pray you never join a debate team.

all christophes work - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Buried for inaccuracy. Photoshop is a PC program. PCs are only useful for business stuff. No one has EVER dne anything creative on a PC. People don't edit photos, make videos or write blogs on PCs. Because PCs can't be used for that sort of thing.
(Think of how stupid my comment sounds, and then realize that EVERY SINGLE "I'm a Mac" commercial says just that.) - JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14What happens when a site reaches the homepage of digg.com?
deeeaaaaad servers.

geeeez ... - krewemaynard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11"What happens when ultra creative people use photoshop?"
They get hired by Reuters? - xister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9@pradapete
Obviously you're not an artist of any sort. Photoshop artists offer a level of technical ability not seen (read: not as popular) in art since the Renaissance. Keith Haring made great art, so did DaVinci. DaVinci was much more technical, using layering and compositing effects much like today's Photoshop artists, only with oil paint instead of pixels.Thake a look at any still life by a Dutch master. The content is apples and oranges, but somehow it's still great art... Hmmmm.... - 2ktj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8WTF??? This site is banned at Bank of America for Erotica and Sex. Guess I have to get back to work. bastards...
- cbergeron, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12The third is fave. Took me a second to figure out what has happening there. She _is_ the bathtub. Wild.
Burnt dude is neat too... - KyleRayner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Nice shoops, but this really belongs in Digg's picture section. :)
- LordLucless, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11@tomos: So you're saying I could have produced Beethoven's Fifth if I'd just put in more effort and time? Sorry, not going to happen. There are just some people in this world who are flat out better at certain things than most everyone else. They're the people we call "geniuses", and no, not everyone has the same potential.
- Yoshi39, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Insovetrussi is right. the site is blocking digg so just refresh the page
- Snokage, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8makes me cringe too. but i still put it as my background... absolutely amazing...
- noncn4mst, on 04/15/2009, -1/+7this guy is amazing! http://www.christophegilbert.com/

Tubgirl? - meamog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7true. but coming up with the idea for those composites? creative.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6anyone who says gimp can do anything photoshop can, doesn't know how to use photoshop. gimp is nice and all, but it's nowhere near the level of software required for professional designers.
that having been said, how does all this photoshop stuff keep ending up on digg? it's not news and it's not difficult, just time consuming. i spent a lot of time moding my computer case, should that make it on digg? - xister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5SPAMFCUK!
- christophert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5that's just one person, you make it sound like it's more than one persons collection of images. they're all by christopher gilbert.
- roomforpanic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5actually, ultra in that context is not a noun, it's an adverb because it acts as a modifier to the adjective creative. It would be the same as if 'very' was used.
- Canadianb123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2HOLY *****!!!
- cantankerous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ultra? I call that verb abuse. Nice work... I would leave ultra out of this though.
- xister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Let's see some links to your stuff MrSunshine... You know, just to compare....
- jaxomlotus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I own worth1000, and I wouldn't call these images crap at all. They're fantastic.
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2But then I couldn't say something was "sickly gay" without looking like an idiot who just contradicted himself...
- sarno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Being a Photoshop professional Illustrator, I have to say that these are average. A couple of them are pretty good, but still pretty average. IMHO.
- sergsamohin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2very beautiful
- ChagrinRiddle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Effort + Imagination = Creativity
A better equation, to me. Time doesn't have to be a factor. Someone who spends six years on something is no more creative than someone who spend six hours. Although, effort does take time...
Also, skill is definitely not a requirement. Skill makes pretty pictures. Skill + Creativity = Cool Pretty Pictures.
Creativity - Skill = Cool but Ugly Pictures - UglieJosh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If there is anything Kurt Cobain taught us, it is that creativity pwns technical ability and effort.
Of course, a combination of both is more desirable. - FishPoisonCon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4there is tons of "this stuff" everywhere. they're good, but not unique in any way... some decent photos with some elementary photoshop skills. over all, they're pretty sweet images - but the headline makes it seem as though this person has never even been on the internet before.
perhaps not ultra creative either, but the skill involved blows this dude away:
