- ce1estia1, on 10/10/2007, -19/+76Its a multinational what do you expect?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -8/+59If any of you ***** ever worked for Murdoch, you'd know what the problem is. I have. I worked in a newsroom that ***** would personally visit, back in the day. He's not interested in presenting the news, or information to the masses in an unbiased manner. He's interested in screwing you out of money, while presenting the most biased ***** imaginable that serves whoever is in power, because that's the best way to smooth the way for him to get what he wants: more money & ownership. He's a colossal *****, too. Die, Murdoch, you *****.
- monkeyrun, on 10/10/2007, -5/+52In other words .. they are big enough to create their own version of reality.
- jackpot, on 10/10/2007, -17/+60Liberal Media my ass!
- dukeeeey, on 10/10/2007, -11/+48A legal monopoly is a 25% market share. A monopoly on the information we get ...
- KnightMareInc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3790% of the media is own by like 4 companies.
- joebaloney, on 10/10/2007, -6/+41Strangely enough I checked the list and I am still fully freaked in. Maybe I did it wrong.
- DiggsOnlyJew, on 10/10/2007, -1/+32http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Google_acquisitions
- mitchboan, on 10/10/2007, -7/+38Let the corporate wars begin!
- revjustin2, on 10/10/2007, -3/+28My favorite line from the wiki - "Fox Soccer Channel, a United States digital cable network specializing mainly in soccer." Thanks for clearing that up, Captain Obvious.
- kingkilr, on 10/10/2007, -5/+27Is it reasonable to boycott photobucket because of Fox News' lack of journalistic integrity?
- Snakedal337, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23Don't forget virgin... They own so much it made my head asplode
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Group - ducktomguy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19...and you'll continue liking it. Why do people assume that EVERYTHING Murdoch owns is only for the reason to put a right slant on it? Do you think the zebras on last month's cover have extra subliminal stripes to subvert gay marriage?
- Andechs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Whats really strange that Fox New's anitchrist, Hilliary Clinton, just had a fundraiser hosted by Rupert Murdoch.
- damnmonkey, on 10/10/2007, -16/+30Hide the women and children! It's a successful, multinational corporation!!
- revjustin2, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13It's called "fishing for diggs" or more plainly "marketing".
Its more about hitting the front page than anything else. - dakboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10GE owns NBC, not CBS. Unless someone installed the giant GE sign on top of the wrong skyscraper, that is.
- compdude32, on 10/10/2007, -6/+15Now that is just silly, we all know that companies like Time Warner aren't a problem, after all they are liberal /sarcasm
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -6/+15i always find it interesting that the myth of the liberal media still persists. i guess people aren't aware of how corporate owned our media is. from GE who profits from war to murdoch who openly admits his bias, there is very little room for anything but the right wing view.
- quaxon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8you can add the wall street journal to that list now as well
http://digg.com/business_finance/Murdoch_s_Bid_for_Wall_Street_Journal_Accepted - hmunkey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9But Google is a "nice" company.
- Snakedal337, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9homestarrunner.com ;)
It's in one of strongbad's games, mocking the japenese's poor translation, when you get killed it says "YOUR HEAD A SPLODE"
EDIT: http://homestarrunner.com/sbzone.html Enjoy - nondescrypt, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10I think by "Corporate wars" he meant -> Corporations (& their governments) -VS- humanity
- tomesnyder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Rupert Murdoch is an Australian.
- catalysis, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9It's obvious you have no idea how corporations work. Murdoch hires the people who control these companies, so he has indirect control over all of them but he does not control day to day operations for any of them. I'm starting to wonder if any diggers really know how this stuff works.
- rudy23, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12Digg itself is nothing less than sensationalist. look at the headline for this article.
- BrewBeau, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Murdoch actually is on record saying that journalists can't be objective, so why even try. It's probably the only time he's been honest. Not sure if that's good or bad.
- dakboy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7x
- Eichenator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I'm retarded
- BrewBeau, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7That's the kind of success everyone should aspire to. God I wish I was successful at the expense of truth, dignity, and the little guy.
- bentman78, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9No, it couldn't be because Australians share the same ideals as individual liberty, freedom and democracy. No, it's that Fox News warps their minds because they can't think for themselves....
Jesus man...get over yourself. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I was also pretty freaked out by them owning Rotten Tomatoes and IGN, considering that they are proprietors of film and video game studios themselves. The respective power both of those enterprises hold over whether something is a hit or not is ridiculous.
It'd be nice to make a list of Fox-owned properties, including films, games and sites and gauge their coverage over their news outlets. Do Fox owned outlets only speak well of MySpace? Are Fox films generally better reviewed on fox outlets and Rotten Tomatoes?
Somebody do all the legwork, quickly!
BTW - the award for best multinational up-and-comer goes to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Blackstone_Group_companies
With their purchase of Hilton Hotels, they officially own the most bizarre portfolio of companies ever assembled. - monkeyrun, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Let me introduce you to Fox news version of the headline :)
What News Corp Owns -- Will it freak you out? - planktonx, on 10/10/2007, -12/+18New World Order.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+12National Geographic- The History Channel-- It never ends people. I got rid of my television set about 18 months ago. Its been wonderful living with out it. I have been getting my news on the net for years now and haven't read a newspaper for at least 2 years and I am better for it.
If everyone got rid of their TV's and stopped buying newspapers this ***** would go broke- actually several of them would and those who didn't would end up with a hell of smack in the pocketbook.
Lying bastards deserve to lose their audience. - Miche1987, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6You decide!
- onlyontuesdays, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7I believe the Simpsons said it best:
"I'm Rupert Murdoch, the billionaire tyrant!"
The scary part is, the real Rupert Murdoch did the voice for that... - Pake, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8He's being sarcastic in that most people on Digg have this idea in their head that because Time Warner is liberal, there is no problem with them owning as much as they do.
- nondescrypt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Fair & Balanced News Flash --> everything you consider "liberal" is actually conservative. NBC, ABC & CBS, all very conservative. You have never experienced "liberal media". It doesn't exist in the U.S.A.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6wow we all replied at the same time..
- Mearn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Remember when they went from showing racing to ***** reality shows and 24/7 NASCAR coverage?
Yeah, that was when NewsCorp bought them. - vfrex, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6...most of those are on the internet.
- exformation, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8It's a good thing they aren't ever biased or anything.
- PhairOh, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8wow... please reread the comment you just bitched out and calm down.
- WarpFox, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10Ya, but virgin is ever-so-slightly less ***** than the rest.
- aben9woaha, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7The myth of the liberal media is pure evil genius.
- bentman78, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It's because there isn't anything worthwhile up in Canada...I mean their national flag has a leaf on it... ;)
Well I guess you have Gretzky..... - andburn1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It's on there.
