Weird and Wacky Drinks
divinecaroline.com — Some drinks just make sense. Take a Tom Collins: gin, freshly squeezed lemon juice, a drizzle of sugar syrup, and some carbonated water to taste. But other drinks defy logic and good sense. Here are some of the weirdest drinks, ranging from stupid (Diet Water) to scandalous (beer for kids) to reportedly sensational (Bacon Martini).

- MysticSavage, on 05/16/2008, -0/+20Hey, sometimes the alcoholic on the go needs a breakfast beverage.
- BTrey, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3I'd like to know if the bacon is raw or cooked... It looks raw in the picture, which doesn't seem particularly appetizing to me. Cooked bacon might add an interesting smoky flavor...
- shutaro, on 05/16/2008, -0/+12It's bacon... Do you really need a reason?
- texpundit, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3I, for one, would LOVE to try a bacon martini. I like extra dirty martinis already, so just make it a little less dirty and use the salt from the bacon to make up for it.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...bacon. - yuanzhoulu, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1for wierd, they missed out all of these horribly yucky sodas:
http://www.slashfood.com/2005/11/26/jones-soda-hol ...
for wacky, they should have included Ramune- ParanoydAndroid, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Ramune is right about the best thing ever. I'm 20 years old and I still get a kick outta popping the marble.

- spaceymacey, on 05/16/2008, -2/+18Beer for kids...interesting.
- breez, on 05/16/2008, -0/+6How is it any different than Root Beer? Which is often served in a brown glass bottle that looks a whole lot like an actual beer bottle.
- bobartig, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Kodomono Nomimono Kanpai!
What's great about japanese is that their word for beverage is just the word for "drinking" and the word for "thing" put together. So I see "children drink-thing", although it doesn't really translate that way.
- homedaddy, on 05/16/2008, -6/+4I can't wait for the other flavors of pizza beer. Mmmm.... meat lover's pizza beer, or Hawaiian pizza beer.
- TribalCouncil, on 05/16/2008, -7/+9Beer for kids? Dear lord, what's next, porn for kids?
- elliott9, on 05/16/2008, -2/+10I believed they already outlawed child porn in most countries

- unicronband, on 05/16/2008, -2/+8I'll stop by the Asian grocery next to my work occasionally and try out the various drinks they have. All of them are unusual, some fantastic (most of the fruit drinks with the fruit chunk flotsam) and some terrible (bird's nest drink, UGH). If you're into trying something completely different, Asian groceries are definitely a place to start.
- KingGorilla, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2coconut jelly drinks are mighty tasty
- unicronband, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Agreed. The grass jelly drinks on the other hand...
- Cern001, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Even though it sounds gross try Pocari Sweat. When I was in Japan I got addicted to the stuff. My wife used to make fun of me because I'd get up in the morning and walk down the the vending machines to pick a random drink. This was one of my favorites, that an Boss coffee drinks. If you're at an asian grocery store they sell that there most likely too.
- russelbutt, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1dugg!
my poison was always aquarius and georgia cafe au lait ;)
woot for people who used to live in japan!
- russelbutt, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1dugg!

- Alexa42, on 05/16/2008, -2/+35Pepsi cucumber actually sounds kinda good...
- CalmBlueOcean, on 05/16/2008, -0/+13Hmm, Pepsi cucumber, gin, ice, hot day. I'm in!
- zyxxyz, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2I've never had cucumber Pepsi, but cucumber flavored drinks in general can be awesome. I sometimes make up a pitcher of water with a sliced lime and half of a sliced cucumber.. after brewing in the fridge for 24 hours, it's delicious.
- antich, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I was able to get a Pepsi Ice Cucumber when they were out - it was actually pretty good!
- povision, on 05/16/2008, -0/+0Ice Cucumber Pepsi is Awesome! They sell it on Ebay, kind of expensive though...
http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-Ice-Cucumber-Pepsi_W0QQit ...
- queenbev, on 05/16/2008, -0/+17I heard the Cucumber Pepsi sold out within days and then they discontinued it.
- povision, on 05/16/2008, -0/+0Yeah, every once in a while you can find it on eBay, like this one:

- redscofield, on 05/16/2008, -0/+22Pocari Sweat is really good though,,,
- Tenlow, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2It's like gatoraid but japanese. It saved my ass from more than a few hangovers.
- SanjayM, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1It's pretty awesome, i've found a shop just near where i live (Newcastle UK) that sells it, great when the weather is hot.
- russelbutt, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1dugg!
but i'd take aquarius over pocari sweat anyday ;) - TheKingInYellow, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1i had pocari sweat while in dubai and couldn't get enough of it.
- Warsmith, on 05/17/2008, -0/+0I was part of a delegation that went to Japan for martial arts training end of April in Kyoto. That stuff saved our asses over there. When youre training 8 am to 5 pm and youre running around in your gi 6 am to 12 am, you loose some water. The group that I was with was around 50 people, and we bought out the lawsons next to our hotel every day!

- PauliAnna, on 05/16/2008, -0/+6Dugg for Diet Water. Really.
- kalii, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Ha Ha that is why I dugg this. All you have to do is put it on the bottle and people will buy it.
- Soupasam, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1It's like the normal Sapporo but it's watered down a bit...
- PhattyPhattMatt, on 05/16/2008, -3/+1It has few calories than regular water...
- campigenus, on 05/16/2008, -1/+0You keep using that word -- I do not think it means what you think it means.
- LegomanArt, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3It is inconceivable for me to understand what word you might be talking about.
- campigenus, on 05/17/2008, -0/+0Diet.
- LegomanArt, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3It is inconceivable for me to understand what word you might be talking about.
- ParanoydAndroid, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1The only thing I can think is that it just has stuff added to increase metabolism and decrease appetite. Which isn't actually a horrible idea if it actually works.
- Nougat, on 05/16/2008, -1/+11Last time I was on a plane, we drank Meaty Marys - that being a Bloody Mary with a beef stick in it instead of celery. Quite delicious.
- breez, on 05/16/2008, -1/+9ooo, use the bacon vodka to make to make a Bloody Mary...Throw in a sprig of lettuce as garnish and call it a BLT. I think we're on to something here.
- Nougat, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2We also experimented with the cheese dip that comes with the little cracker breadsticks, as a garnish on the end of the beef stick (not in the drink proper).
- MysticSavage, on 05/16/2008, -0/+0God damn it, is it 5 o'clock yet?
- absurdist, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1It's always 5:00 somewhere... :)

- SeekaF, on 05/16/2008, -0/+8Something about a bacon martini sounds pretty good, just don't make me look at the bottle.
- turbomog007, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3Japan brings us so many magical drinks to a magical Asian grocery store near you. Children's beer tastes awful. Pocari Sweat taste good and really is refreshing when thirsty. I am still looking for cucumber pepsi but I am sure it will taste good.
- bobartig, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I'll bet its kind of like Dr. Brown's Celery soda, but, you know, with cucumber instead of celery.
- JFitzpatrick, on 05/16/2008, -1/+2Reminds me of catering weddings years and years ago... one of the groomsmen places a drink order with me, I was 16 at the time and had no idea the difference between various mixed drinks. His order was three parts gin, maple syrup, a dash of black pepper, 7-up, orange juice, and ice. Sounded like it tasted like *****, bar tender agreed it would taste like *****, and 10 minutes later drink in hand the groomsmen agreed it tasted like *****. Over a decade later courtesy of Digg I think I finally figured out that the dude as trying to order a Tom Collins and just got the parts terribly terribly confused. Mystery solved.
- alittleroy101, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2You had maple syrup stocked behind your bar?
- JFitzpatrick, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2We had some in the kitchen, the catering company I worked for was based out of an old repurposed mansion.
- alittleroy101, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2You had maple syrup stocked behind your bar?
- onionlayer, on 05/16/2008, -1/+4Japan You Crazy
- prosayik, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3They find American 'sushi' with cream cheese just as crazy.
- ParanoydAndroid, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1um ... no they don't. A fair amount of Japanese sushi can be served with cream cheese in it. It's actually very popular.
- FearFactory, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1keke you die la?
- prosayik, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3They find American 'sushi' with cream cheese just as crazy.
- uziko, on 05/16/2008, -5/+1those are all disgusting
- Ikulus, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1Buried for having a closed mind.
- uziko, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1wow! you have no idea what you are talking about, i have so big of an open mind that your mind is like a peanut compared to mine.
open or closed it doesn't change the fact that all of those drinks would leave a highly unpleasant taste in my mouth- thomashauk, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Especially the diet water
- uziko, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1wow! you have no idea what you are talking about, i have so big of an open mind that your mind is like a peanut compared to mine.

- Reaktor5, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Where's the Bacon-Schlager?
- bismark90, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1ice cucumber pepsi is quite good. i bought it at a 7-11 in yokohama last summer. doesn't taste like cola, just kind of a light, slightly sweet flavor.. reminded me of some of those gatorade ice flavors.
- PvtJenkins, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1mmmmm...I want some
- povision, on 05/16/2008, -0/+0Yeah, they sell it on eBay every once in a while. If you can find it, you're lucky.

- macgyver4ever, on 05/16/2008, -2/+2I collect bad sodas. That's my hobby. I have some of the greats like Crystal Pepsi, Ice Cucumber, and Pepsi Blue. Pepsi Co. seems to come out with the best (worst) sodas.
- irieKEN, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Coca-Cola owns the Sprite brand, and mint-flavored Sprite is pretty damn bad.
- cha5e, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2I kept a can of Crystal Pepsi. It was in my mom's basement, in the (upside-down) tophat from my magic kit I had when I was a kid. Somehow the can ruptured. My mom recently found: upside down tophat, full of sticky syrup, with a dead mouse inside.
Do you remember 7up Gold from the late 80s? I loved that stuff. Didn't care for Apple Slice, though.
- irieKEN, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1They forgot Mint Sprite ( http://eggyolk.blogspot.com/2007/06/jay-chou-potat ... )... I've tried it in China, and it's like drinking a can of Listerine.

/sarc - burstaneurysm, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Hmm... the place that originated the Pizza Beer is only 20 minutes from my house... time to get drunk, and full!
- jokeoftheday, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3OH NO BEER is getting as complicated as coffee... what is happening to this world LOL
- Grifter801, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I drink Pocari Sweat whenever I'm in Tokyo and it's actually really good despite the name, though honestly that's what drew me to it the first time I had it. It tastes a bit like slightly watered down lemonade.
- tjmpaintball06, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1God I want some of that pizza beer...
- samh14, on 05/16/2008, -0/+0What will the world come too. Next we will have bacon martinis... oh wait

I think it comes in small bottles because it is explosive. - ParanoydAndroid, on 05/17/2008, -0/+2I was under the impression that pocari sweat was the same thing as Calpico? Is that right?
- freedomwv, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Your right it is pretty much the same thing.
- freedomwv, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Trust me the Japanese beer for kids taste like ass. I do not think it will give kids a desire for the real stuff. And did anyone notice that almost all the drinks are from Japan. I live in japan and I know that sometimes the Japanese are kind of different from the rest of the world at times but they are not the strangest people on the planet.
- WordsnCollision, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1C'mon DC, only 6?? Japan alone can easily fill a top ten list. In fact, they already have:
