- godplaysdnd, on 03/25/2008, -4/+125Where do babies come from?
Out of daddy's vagina. - Obsidian743, on 03/25/2008, -17/+85Title is very misleading. She's a transgender and chose to carry their baby. She was born a woman and will always be a woman and that's how she got pregnant. Nothing spectacular or revolutionary here. Just because she chooses to identify herself as a man means nothing.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 03/25/2008, -30/+94She's only pretending to be a man and this only proves it.
- ApolloXLII, on 03/25/2008, -1/+63where's Danny Devito in all of this?
- moletimer, on 03/25/2008, -2/+61'He had his breasts surgically removed and started bimonthly testosterone injections, but kept his vagina.'
That is the weirdest and most confusing sentence I have ever read. - AmishJedi, on 03/25/2008, -47/+99I feel bad for that child.
- daz197, on 03/25/2008, -15/+63So headline SHOULD actually be, "Flat chested chick gives birth""
- jcastillo81, on 03/25/2008, -0/+40Yah, it will come out with fully developed biceps and an affinity for the WWF.
- nuclearmeatloaf, on 03/25/2008, -6/+46So...uh...how do we get it out?
Edit: sorry, just read the article, he kept the vagina - Smoozle, on 03/25/2008, -3/+43*nitpick* Dolphins are not fish. */nitpick*
- paross2, on 03/25/2008, -13/+50This is SOOO amazing!
A man who has a vagina, a uterus, ovaries, one in tact fallopian tube and a natural clutch of eggs MAGICALLY is able to give birth.
I mean... sure, this MAN used to be a woman. But HE had surgery to remove HIS breasts! HE took some hormones that made hair grow on HIS face and HIS voice get deeper!
AMAZING! HE eliminated all HIS secondary sex characteristics, kept HIS primary sex characteristics, and then changed HIS name, and now gosh darnit, despite a legal title of male, HE is having a baby!
No. SHE just changed a few things and started calling HERSELF a man. That changes nothing... SHE can still get pregnant. Looks like we found a legal loophole in the gay marriage argument.
//not hatin', just sayin'! You can cover a turd in sprinkles, but that doesn't make it icecream. - inactive, on 03/25/2008, -18/+49well no *****? This is a woman not a man. WHen you castrate yourself, youre simply a castrated man !
- mentallyinhell, on 03/25/2008, -11/+38I wonder if the bimonthly testosterone injection will have an affect on the fetus.
- sebastianbr, on 03/25/2008, -1/+23'Mammal'
- robotto, on 03/25/2008, -2/+23SO he still has a vagina?
- ElbertF, on 03/25/2008, -0/+20Wasn't that a Southpark episode?
- illyriah, on 03/25/2008, -0/+20You say 'kept the vagina' like it was a real viable choice. Surgery for female-to-male transgender people is very poor. It's difficult to create a penis. (But easy to create a dick? eh..)
- captainbethany, on 03/25/2008, -5/+24Man, I knew something was fishy. He's not a natural male, he was a female (not that there's anything wrong with that!). Show me a male, who was born a male, who wants to carry a baby, and that will be real news. The title is misleading... not that I fell for it... ergh.
- fuhcough, on 03/25/2008, -7/+26WTF? What ever happened to just being a straight-up lumberjack dyke?
- gotterdammerung, on 03/25/2008, -9/+25Why would he keep his vagina if he gender-identified as male? Moreover, why would he keep his ovaries, where estrogen is produced, and concurrently undergo testosterone injections?
- nominalgeek, on 03/25/2008, -9/+23Can all the comments to the parent post realize, that it's simply a awkward situation to grow up in and thats what the parent post is referring to.
- Digger1218, on 03/25/2008, -9/+23If it has a vag, then scientifically its a "she" not a "he". Dressing up as a man and having her ***** chopped off doesn't change the fact that she's a female.
- fuhcough, on 03/25/2008, -12/+25According to the article, IT stopped the injections before becoming pregnant...
- inactive, on 03/25/2008, -39/+50Yeah, who'd want two loving parents.
Better to just never live, right dumbass? - sierrabrianne, on 03/25/2008, -1/+14I doubt it considering they said he let it all get out of his system before conceiving.
- shenanigoats, on 03/25/2008, -2/+14Gender identity and sexuality aren't the same thing
- diggit83, on 03/25/2008, -5/+17No witty comment here.
Just a WTF - Balanced, on 03/25/2008, -1/+13That would really depend on who is defining male in this case. Biologically, I think he still would show as female on a chromsone analysis or a simple pelvic exam. Legally, however, he's considered male.Weird.
- thedogfatherx, on 03/25/2008, -19/+33Whats the world comming to.
- Jaxim, on 03/25/2008, -14/+26The title should read, "U.S. Woman pretending to be a Man Claims to be Pregnant -- National Post"
Heck the person pretending to be a Man still has a vagina. The very minimum definition of a "Man" is that you not have a vagina. Just because someone may get surgically altered to look like a dolphin, that someone is still a human being. (South Park Reference.)
I wish the couple and their baby happiness, but there's nothing extraordinary here. - mlvassallo, on 03/25/2008, -2/+14Then what did I just eat‽‽‽
- PoppedCulture, on 03/25/2008, -0/+11Mr. Broflovski?
- insertAliasHere, on 03/25/2008, -4/+15I don't care if legally he's a fish. He's still a biological female, which makes this story completely unremarkable. A woman got pregnant, wow.
- illyriah, on 03/25/2008, -5/+15Yeah, let's take the child away from its family that loves and cares for it well! Then we can put it in a foster home! Yeah!!! (/sacasm... jerk.)
- insertAliasHere, on 03/25/2008, -6/+16No, "he" isn't biologically a man. This person has a vagina, and a uterus. I'm sure that he/she thinks of himself as a man, but breast reduction surgery and hormone injections don't make you a male. They make you male-like.
- libertinette, on 03/25/2008, -2/+10He did, and waited until they were out of his system to try for a baby.
- Samanth0r, on 03/25/2008, -8/+18I have been reading about this since way before it was on DIGG , its an interesting article. FTM's have to deal with alot and I feel for them. It would have been a very hard decision. I mean stop for a second and ask your self. At WHAT POINT does family mean more than gender identity? In the original article its mentioned that his partner can't get pregnant as she is infertile and has damaged ovaries. As she was unable to carry the child was originally planned. He decided to do the same. Ask yourself if you as a man (GENETIC OR NOT in a relationship with a woman found out your partner/wife/girlfriend couldnt have a child BUT YOU BOTH wanted one. Would you do the same? Think about that for a mintue before you answer.
- therealkdog, on 03/25/2008, -5/+15Dude chicks with dicks must be the best of both worlds..... Atleast thats what my inbox tells me every morning.
- DiggyWiggy, on 03/25/2008, -8/+17sex=woman
gender=man - souljaboytellem, on 03/25/2008, -2/+11Well at least he kept his vagina, cause if he didn't...ow
- aussia, on 03/25/2008, -2/+11Actually, probably not. Most female to male transitioned people are hard to differentiate from biological males. As it says in the article, the majority of people in their community and in his partner's family had no idea he was not actually a biological male.
- TheSpook, on 03/25/2008, -2/+11> "She's only pretending to be a man and this only proves it."
You could say the same thing about many of the commentators to this story. - Digger1218, on 03/25/2008, -0/+8ITS A TRAP!
- GlassCalx, on 03/25/2008, -1/+9He stopped the testosterone injections and started menstruating again in order to ovulate. He still probably has higher much higher test than most people with vaginae and uteri have so it will be interesting to see how the kids turn out. Specifically it will be interesting to see their finger length ratios, sexuality, suceptability to depression, etc.
- illyriah, on 03/25/2008, -3/+11Surgery for male-to-female transgender people is very poor, and it costs well over 100k to do. (And it isn't covered by insurance.) For that reason, many trans-men don't have what they generally call 'bottom surgery.' Also, it is generally considered polite to use a person's preferred pronouns. (Ie don't refer to him as 'her')
- catalysis, on 03/25/2008, -0/+8I'm not sure what exactly you expected. Men can't get pregnant.
- whiledo, on 03/25/2009, -2/+10Everyone else is completely off-base. Like many other men, I'm sure he kept the ovaries/vagina/uterus because he's a packrat and just can't stand to toss out something that might come in handy one day.
