- zacbro, on 09/03/2008, -3/+42John Travolta must not have been home when they took that picture or you wouldn't be able to see his runway through his massive ego! HEYO!!!
- ChronicColonic, on 09/03/2008, -0/+32I can see my dog in my backyard.

- sauron256, on 09/03/2008, -2/+20It's a sad state of affairs when people are so offended by the shape of a building that $600,000 has to be spent to fix it. Couldn't that money go into something a little more useful, like, I don't know, life-saving cancer research???
- snareguy17, on 09/03/2008, -1/+19Call me evil or whatever but I thought the swastika story was hilarious.
- yellowfish04, on 09/03/2008, -1/+16I apologize, but it's just ingrained in my DNA to do this:
WOO NORTH DAKOTA!!
seriously, how often do we get the spotlight, much less even mentioned in ANYthing?? LET ME HAVE MY MOMENT - Whiteknight117, on 09/03/2008, -4/+18OK I don't usually do this but, this has been on digg about ten times.
- s3rgi0, on 09/03/2008, -1/+15actually no, that meme originated from. Kent Brockman says "I, for one, welcome our giant ant overlords."
That story probably made it a meme. - Y0tsuya, on 09/03/2008, -2/+15Just say it's a buddhist symbol. If people still complain, accuse them of religious intolerance and brand them as bigots.

- ybnormalman, on 09/03/2008, -0/+12I don't know why nobody knows "the rest of the story" on that one - zoom out a little bit, and you'll see another building right next to it shaped like a US warplane making a bombing run on the swastika.
- buddypriefert, on 09/03/2008, -2/+13Total BS:
"The Navy said they always knew what the layout of the barracks resembled but thought no one would ever notice. As a result of these images becoming available online, they are being forced to spend $600,000 on new structures and extra greenery to camouflage the building"
Why BS:
"but thought no one would ever notice" - says who? For crying out loud, the design of a swastika isn't all that complex and just because one out of 3 billion buildings happens to have 4 simple 90 degree angle units is completely expected out of probability. It's just like the whining idiots to force us taxpayers to foot a $600,000 bill just because of this. Does this mean the next time someone spots a building in the shape of an "X" that we'll have to pay a hefty fine to the NAACP for a building that is too close to the Confederate Flag? - Clamato, on 09/03/2008, -0/+10Your neighbor has a nice algae farm growing there

- BoneStamp, on 09/03/2008, -0/+7Especially since the swastika once represented peace, thousands of years before the Nazi's ever used it. We're spending tons of money to modify a federal building that resembles a symbol that one group used for a brief period of time.
- JohnnyMarr, on 09/03/2008, -0/+7The only bizarre thing about this list is the fact that its a "Top 17".
- digidevil, on 09/03/2008, -1/+7I looked on google earth last year to find the house i grew up in in Colorado years and years ago, i now live very far from there, it was in the middle on nowhere and i finally found it-- and in the picture the house was on fire when the pic was taken, huge billow of smoke going out. not kidding. it's since been rebuilt apparently.
- Ericdigital, on 09/03/2008, -0/+6I know where your coming from, I usually frown on people who say its been on the front page a billion times but for some reason this one made me cringe =[
- Jaime2000, on 09/03/2008, -0/+5Would you rather see another story about Palin on the front page?
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -0/+5A better view of john Travoltas airport and home
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=77th+Stree ... - zacbro, on 09/03/2008, -0/+5So.... On another account you massed a friends list of immature idiots that would find that funny and dig it up but now as an experiment you've made yourself subject to critics who have IQ's over 50 to prove the point that....... This is where you lost me....
- BlackCow, on 09/03/2008, -0/+5Do a barrel roll!
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -6/+11"Coca Cola who used 70,000 empty coke bottles for their logo on a hillside in Chile."ok so basically coke just dumped a bunch of empty plastic bottles in a foreign country to make an advertisement...and nobody thinks there's anything wrong with that?
- lolobabyy, on 09/03/2008, -0/+5Ugh even when I've been trying to avoid all the presidential politics stories, (it's getting old...seriously) there's always someone who brings it up when it isn't relevant at all.
- tj111, on 09/03/2008, -0/+4And world war II era bombers.
- woofer1125, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5i knew firefox was an alien program.

- BoneStamp, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5@Nosferotu
I hear you... but I feel like I'm only understating it as much as they're exaggerating the similarity between this building and the Nazi swastika. The Nazi swastika is black, rotated on a 45 degree angle and fitted in a while circle set on a red background. The only similarity this building has is its shape, it lacks all other parameters that characterize a Nazi swastika.
PS - Nosferotu is one of my favorite classic horror films, coincidentally a German film... although pre-Nazi Germany. :) - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5Because there _is_ nothing wrong with that.
- arjie, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5Well, the better part is, if you look further out, you can see two bomber shaped buildings. So it's like the planes are going to bomb the swastika. It's all good again.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Coronado+C ... - fuzzy889, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5The nazi version is inverted though.
- shuffleslide, on 09/03/2008, -0/+3This one should be added to brand spamming,
As far as i remember mens magazine Maxim was one of the first of the google earth brand spams….
http://www.maximonline.com/maximusa/maximcover.png
It also deserves a mention coz the cover features hot as hell Eva Longoria - KegBol, on 09/03/2008, -0/+3For some reason, my german friend doesn't agree with you.
- Nicoon, on 09/03/2008, -1/+4Wait, wait. What makes the plane a mapping error while the ship makes a ghost ship?
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -2/+5wow, a bit full of yourself are you?
- OneLess, on 09/03/2008, -0/+3Hell, donate it to some sort of Holocaust remembrance fund or a charity that's working to help people in Darfur/Rwanda/etc. What a massive waste of money to just use it on camouflaging the building.
- TonyLocNE, on 09/03/2008, -0/+3did anyone else though check out the extra link for his house? Pretty ***** amazing...
- noisound, on 09/03/2008, -1/+4the ghost ship is like #3 single winged plane landing where maps are snapped on together. only the article decided to have some flair
- BRENTON8907, on 09/03/2008, -3/+5Ghost ship explanation please?
- WombleSlayer, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2Zing!
- yaddayaddayoda, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2If you scroll north, the bridge becomes a ghost near the north end of the river, due to a stitching error.
