Beauty is only skin deep.

    Second point, is it just me or has any else been noticing girls these days are becoming shockingly rude, full of themselves, and incredibly vain? Most girls I know now a days are worse then half the guys I know when it comes to being trust worthy in relationships and caring only about superficial appearances. Most girls can barely cook anymore, yet alone do half the stuff that's considered "womenly", but want me to act like a gentleman and pick up the bill all the time. Dating now is just messed up, and sadly it's girls like this that we get to choose from. Sometimes I feel as though I ain't looking for miss right, I'm looking for miss not the worst... Maybe it's just where I live and I need to move away?

  • VinceNoir, on 02/29/2008, -1/+19I'm a married guy who is 37 years old and I know of what you speak. I started noticing the trend in my mid 20s. But, as others have pointed out it isn't strictly women. American culture seems to have embraced "attitude" as being an important part of being socially viable. It's sad. However, women seem to be increasing this type of behavior exponentially and slightly beyond the average man (douchbags excepted).

    The interesting thing about my wife is that the woman I dated before her claimed to be a vocal feminist. That was fine. My wife also supports feminism. However, one of many bones of contention she has with other feminists is the double standard. They STILL expect a man to pay for a date even though they're claiming to believe in equality. This took a bit for me to wrap my mind around. In fact, when she offered to pay for a date early on, or wanted to split the cost most of the time, I worried that it meant she wasn't interested. It took me a few years of dating her to accept this. Just goes to show you how many males are also programmed to accept these double standards. I think I lucked out with her. I don't suspect there are many females (no matter how enlightened they might be in other areas) who would agree that for dating to be truly equal, both participants should split costs equally.

Guys wear popped collars and use their salaries as a pick up line for one reason---It works! When it stops working, guys will stop acting this way. Too many women prefer the guy with the popped collar and inflated ego. While on the other hand, men are much more open to a wider variety of women. Sure, women like the ones we're discussing now will often get the first look of man because they look easy. If my one goal was to get laid would I choose the girl that's already half undressed or the equally attractive Tina Fey look a like with the turtleneck on? Another point to keep in mind is that men see the type of guys that are often extremely popular with the ladies in high school and college and will continue to emulate them until well into their 30's. I've always been amused how once women turn about 27 they no longer want the same type of guy they've wanted for the past 10 years, yet they wonder why guys still act that way.

I'm just commenting on the simple fact of a trend I've noticed arise over the past few years. Guys have always been tools, look back at history and you'll always find douche bags that were trying to pop their equivalent of more then 4 collars. Personally, i'm a fan of the victorian age where guys thought they should look like a giant V, with huge upper body and small legs.

    Instead I'm commenting that girls now a days seem to want more, while offering less. This has appeared to only be a more recent trend, but perhaps I'm mistaken. By the way, I prefer Brunettes, and if you can rock glasses while having a cute smile I'll all too gladly introduce myself. However, I'm sorry if the "cool" guys over look you because you're not acting a fool, but you're probably yourself overlooking the quiet, sincere guy checking you out; that's shared ***** less of making the first move.
