- InfinitySnatch, on 11/25/2008, -0/+31My dad kept insisting that they took the Godzilla out of the Subway commercial because of a lawsuit. My siblings and I would always make fun or him for it because he jumps to weird conclusions like that all the time. My God...he was right all along. He must never know. Never.
- kplo, on 04/01/2009, -0/+17I used to work at a pizza place that had a pizza that ended in -zilla. Now it ends in -villa. Godzilla lawyers FTW.

- IRAcarbombs, on 11/25/2008, -0/+12I heard Mothra has recently hired Jessie Jackson
- DigSomeMore, on 11/25/2008, -0/+10The Godzilla lawyers will come at you all day, don't mess with him...
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+9With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
He pulls the spitting infringement down (from his product)
Toho Co (Ltd), they say he's got to go, go go Godzilla®©™
Oh no, there goes our Logo, go go Godzilla - ablacksunrise, on 11/25/2008, -0/+8Dugg for dad's crazy theories.
- DPozzy, on 11/25/2008, -1/+9Lets hope Firefox doesn't go... Mozilla
- FallenTurtles, on 11/25/2008, -0/+8History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of men.
- h3lx, on 11/25/2008, -0/+7If I had an enterprise as profitable as Godzilla®©™ I would want the most ruthless self centered diabolical legal masterminds poised and ready in case some idiot ***** misinterprets it as fair use or attempts to pawn off some cheese-filled ***** knock-off as something that my enterprise is associated with... They should carry Katanas and machine guns and ride around on motorcycles threatening old women.
As far as tangible wealth, I can't imagine a world without Godzilla®©™. - inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+6Any Godzilla fan could have told them that this would happen. There have been dozens of cases where the Toho lawyers have stepped in and filed suit when someone uses the image without permission. However, they are nowhere near as vindictive and obsessive as the lawyers from Disney.
- Ghoztt, on 11/25/2008, -3/+8Legalize it. I think these gentlemen have some of the most useless jobs in the world. 'Leech jobs' as I call it. Humanity is so greedy it would rather hire members of itself to fight itself over IMAGINARY FRIENDS and the transactions of little green papers than put these guys to work growing food for humanity, or building shelters, or creating tangible wealth for society.
- cle2105, on 11/25/2008, -0/+5I would say so. How many giant moths do you know?
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Here is your Internets, sir. You can have it for the day...
- cerealjynx, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Just use Gamera instead.
She's way hotter anyway. - ryanspeck, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4They sue more than Scientology.
First they get MST3K box sets pulled from the market, then they get vaguely Godzilla-like inflatable monsters removed. Perhaps we'll all get sued for talking about Godzilla. - dartmanx, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3Is Mothra a "persecuted minority"?
- kaijunexus, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3As a lifelong Godzilla fan, I can attest to Toho's insanity when it comes to protecting their copyrights and intellectual properties.
The Godzilla fanzine "G-Fan" was forced to stop publishing any fan fiction in their magazine as a result of a single issue that was put out a couple years ago containing a little more fan fiction than was generally the norm.
My youtube account was even suspended for posting a Godzilla music video I'd made and a two minute clip from one of the films. - Krakerjax, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3So, does this mean you can legally own a name if you copyright it?
I mean, they sued the band for having it in their name, so logically speaking... - psykiv, on 11/25/2008, -1/+4The picture in the thumbnail looks photoshopped.
That sentence is legally enough to get me sued by Adobe.
This is also just as stupid. Patent and Trademark law is definitely broken. - FaithclubDotNet, on 11/25/2008, -0/+2Yes. That clip is actually funny now.
- fuzzy889, on 11/25/2008, -0/+2So what about the metal band Gojira?
- spj36, on 11/25/2008, -0/+2Dugg cause that's happened to me with my parents too. Truth is, it gets really annoying when they jump to such wild conclusions without any proof and expect you to believe it too just cause they say so. That's how they damaged their credibility in the first place!
- GojiraBreath, on 11/25/2008, -0/+2Who's Godzilla?
- GaryChalmers, on 11/25/2008, -0/+2Rapper Pharoahe Monch also got sued for using the Godzilla theme in one of his songs. Against Godzilla lawyers, we're all like thousands of fleeing Japanese.
- lillylibertine, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1Alec Baldwin has a thing or two to say about lawyers, too:
http://www.entertonement.com/clips/29396/Alec-Bald ... - michaelamyers, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1Why doesn't someone here in the US just copyright JAPAN, Japanese and the entire Japanese alphabet?
When someone from Japan enters the US & we ask what nationality they are or what country they are from BAM! Lawsuit.
Sorry, you can no longer say those words, they are the intellectual property of US. Writing, saying, using sign language to display or ANY other use of such will result in substantial fines.
Just let them try to find themselves on a map. - dartmanx, on 11/25/2008, -1/+2The godzilla lawyers were also awakened from slumber by atomic testing in the 1950s, but have mostly been working for the **AA's.
- aditt, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1movilla
- shipwreck58, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1He is the King of all monsters for a reason!
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1What an absurd comparison:
"In 1971, the U.S. government failed in its efforts to block the publication of the Pentagon Papers, an internal and classified government review of the Vietnam War, from appearing in the New York Times. But in 1998, Toho stopped publisher William Morrow and Company from releasing the book Godzilla!, which included some 90 unauthorized copyright photographs."
Gimme a break. - pond70, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1***** Godzilla lawyers..... and that hunk of crap movie from 1998
- Jafo2, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1A friend just had the same problem with his newsletter, Jetzilla
- Ac1115, on 11/25/2008, -0/+0No No, It's nothing to do with leeching and all the other evils of capitalism you ranted about. In the US and many other countries, if you lose control of your brand, you no longer own it. Since Godzilla is widely known in the US, and if the trademark owners don't keep their images and likenesses in check, they could lose copyright protection.
That's what happened with KFC in the UK. They lost control of the brand and now any idiot can open up a restaurant that serves fried chicken and use KFC logos and trademarks. Xerox was also in danger of this a few decades ago. - pyroglass, on 11/25/2008, -1/+1GRRRUUMMPPH
Mom!
What? We're out of Vodka. - dk911, on 11/25/2008, -3/+2They said that they take each one on a case-by-case basis and that's why they've left Mozilla alone. Now, when they become the #1 browser and IE goes the way of Ultraman, they will probably start suing the pants off them.
