Some *****' bloggers try too hard sometimes with the too-cool-for-school banter, and can suck the fun out of everything, as though they're the only ones who can detect irony, or the only ones who have a sense of humor... I would propose that many of those people know how bad the costumes are - that's part of the fun.

    I wish I had thought of the cardboard-box stormtrooper thing, those are ***** amazing! WAY more personality than the 501st meticulous replica attempts.

  • anotherjack, on 04/02/2009, -0/+9They're not trying to recreate ILM - they're playacting. For most of these, I'm entertained by the silliness and tolerant of the flaws. Making a wookie out of yarn, or StromTrooper and Slave Leia out of paper, or a Lego Fett is a technical feat. But that one person in the green garbage bag is seriously in danger of being placed in the nearest receptacle.

Go to a Con and witness incredibly hot women in sexy outfits talking to these same guys. Most of these guys in the pictures are doing it for fun, not out of some need to create an exact replica down to infinite detail. Throw in a few beers and nobody cares how authentic the costumes are.
