- MikeonTV, on 11/27/2007, -6/+28Odd. 'Read lists' not on the list.
- bball2, on 11/27/2007, -1/+17The article was actually written by Leo Babauta from Zen Habits http://zenhabits.net/
Check it out, a lot of great articles there as well. - JonnyTrombone, on 11/27/2007, -2/+111. Acid
2. ... So, you tried acid, right? - digghasnoethics, on 11/27/2007, -1/+10Where's drink?
Drugs probably comes under the same heading, but breaking down the rational questioning part of your mind is a sure fire way of coming up with amazing ideas. Not too much, not too little - and follow ideas where they take you.
More fun than exercising. - sockpuppets, on 11/27/2007, -0/+8... and that's how I invented the fleshlight.
- imikedaman, on 11/27/2007, -0/+8My way is by having massive ADHD and just daydreaming until the ideas come to me. Too bad the same condition that gives me a lot of great ideas also keeps me from actually implementing any of them...
- cusoman, on 11/27/2007, -0/+7Top way to waste your time: Submit hundreds of Digg stories a day - I'm looking at you, poster.
- postalblowfish7, on 11/27/2007, -0/+6buried for "I’m a pretty prolific blogger..."
- imikedaman, on 11/27/2007, -0/+5Nope, definitely ADHD and not laziness. My last computer program is over 63,000 lines of code, which roughly translates to 2,400 pages of size 10 text in Word. Similarly, my old college projects used to be full-fledged applications and games while the actual assignment only required small demos comprised of a few hundred lines of code.
My problem is that there are periods of weeks to months at a time where I simply can't get myself to concentrate on the task at hand no matter how hard I try - including enjoyable things like video games. It's been such a frustrating problem that I finally went to a psychologist and was diagnosed with ADHD. I'll eventually get a full evaluation and treatment once I save up enough money to afford it.
I'm not entirely sure why you think you're in any position to tell me about my own life, but I'm sorry you feel that way. - ripple123, on 11/27/2007, -1/+6People who wanna drive traffic to their site by posting inane top 10 lists they made up in 5 seconds to digg?
- payrok, on 11/27/2007, -0/+5Big words coming from someone who doesn't have to live with the problem.... I am ADD, always have been, always will be. Granted, I've learned to cope enough that I have a job I enjoy and I get along ok in my life, but that doesn't mean that it isn't a constant struggle to keep focused on the issue at hand.
So please, don't comment on something you can't possibly hope to understand. - dgendreau, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3I'm in the same boat imikedaman. I am on medication now. I cant really tell the difference when I take it, but my GF can. I can tell you that structure in your life helps as much as medicatio, so do both if you can.
One system you should read about that helps me a ton is GTD. I dont use the whole system yet, just context lists so far. I also use an old palm pilot to remind me of appointments ahead of time so I'm not late all the time. GTD makes a lot of my spacey/procrastination issues less of a problem because it helps remind me of important things I need to do when I am at specific places. This makes it easier to free associate without worrying about forgetting important things.
Sometimes I use a program on my palm pilot that vibrates every 10-15 minutes to help break me out of hyper-focus as a reality check. - datastorageguy, on 11/27/2007, -2/+5Get lost with your 20 ways to do x spam. No one cares.
- has2k1, on 11/27/2007, -4/+7Come on diggers. Post stuff so that I can steal your ideas.

- semengilligan, on 11/27/2007, -0/+2Near death experience should be one of them.
- b16madman, on 11/27/2007, -0/+2you need a website to tell you how to come up with amazing ideas? late night infomercials were always more successful for me
- postalblowfish7, on 11/27/2007, -0/+1drugs expand your conscienceness, drinking dulls it.
- Lozil, on 12/06/2008, -0/+1Very Well Written Article mate... Really Loved it..... :)
- KingBunny, on 11/27/2007, -2/+3#1 is definitely important (WRITE THINGS DOWN!)
I'll come up with half a dozen ideas all the time, and think "I'll remember them" ... but 10 minutes later, I can't remember one. When you start writing them down, you'll realize that you're normally just bouncing around 5% of your total ideas, and in an unclear form as well. There are so many more! - illt, on 11/27/2007, -0/+1#21
- acidbass, on 11/27/2007, -0/+1i was gonna say, if all that fails, 21) mushrooms
- Metasquares, on 11/28/2007, -0/+1That depends. If your ideas are intrinsically tied with your rational thought, breaking down that part of your mind is the last thing you want to do.
And you can probably accomplish the same thing through meditation without the use of any drugs. Just saying. - Manuelmty, on 11/27/2007, -1/+1LETS RIDE BICYCLES !!!
- Jeanette11338, on 11/29/2007, -1/+1Almost puts me to sleep just reading it :S
- Metasquares, on 11/28/2007, -1/+1I was skeptical when I clicked on this, but these actually match many of my own principles for thinking up ideas. They really work if you're the right sort of person (coming up with ideas is a very individual process).
- ravimohanv, on 12/02/2007, -1/+0good article on innovation
