- dillyhoo, on 11/27/2007, -1/+119It's been going downhill ever since Snuffalufagus stopped dealing crack in 1985.
- Nathrat, on 11/27/2007, -2/+79wow, he really is gonna be in a bathroom stall, heating up cookie dough on a spoon.
- cs188, on 11/27/2007, -1/+75"Celery Monster" just isn't giving off the same vibe... =/
- dvicklund, on 11/27/2007, -12/+67C is for cop out.
- FireAtWill, on 11/27/2007, -1/+48Next thing we know Oscar is going to move to the 'burbs and join the PTA.
- jtorkbob, on 11/27/2007, -0/+47This article is from 2005. For those of us who have watched the last couple seasons, the 'new' cookie monster routines are really not that much different. There are just fewer sketches where he actually gorges himself.
- iceman0113, on 11/27/2007, -4/+47The letter C does not usually make a 'ssss' sound, that's what the letter "s" is for. If your kids are fat, it's not the cookie monster's fault, it's your own damn fault for not restricting or teaching them. Bring back Cookie Monster dammit.
Also FTA: "To my dismay, I also saw the furry blue creature eating an apple. What is going on here?"
omg, wtf is going on? - Rakia, on 11/27/2007, -1/+37First, they try to change Santa by making him skinny in England, now this?
- AshamedAmerican, on 11/27/2007, -0/+30This is a joke, right?
When I was a kid, I didn't like cookies because some blue unidentifiable monstrosity inhaled them like Lindsay Lohan does blow, I liked them because they're ***** good! And they still are! - sophiaperennis, on 11/27/2007, -0/+27C is for Cookie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BovQyphS8kA
- AROZ, on 11/27/2007, -1/+26Was there an intervention or something?
- hvsahin, on 11/27/2007, -0/+18"./~ Cookies are a sometimes food ./~" WTF?
More like "Parenting is a sometimes job." - Nathrat, on 11/27/2007, -1/+19Santa is skinny in England?!...f*ck it, give him cookie monsters old cookies, two birds with one stone.
- carterbaldwin, on 11/27/2007, -2/+19Well, *****, I was going to blame the cookie monster for my kids being obese, but now I guess I no longer have any excuses. Thanks, media, for making me take responsibility!
- ChromaVita, on 11/27/2007, -0/+13Santa is going to be a skinny guy that says "Ha Ha Ha" this Christmas.
- OhROFL, on 11/27/2007, -0/+12Celery Monster sounds scary. Like a monster made of celery. I wouldn't want to eat vegetables after that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb6q_aplycA - jmpeagle, on 11/27/2007, -0/+11welcome to 2+ years ago...5/12/05 was when this article was written
- LegalSatire, on 11/27/2007, -3/+13Read the article. The author just suggests that C is for Celery - nowhere does Sesame Street actually employ that line.
In fact, the article is just about the fact they're showing kids you shouldn't eat cookies all the time, but rather in moderation. This is hardly something to be up in arms over, and certainly not something worth writing a rant about. - Battleloser, on 11/27/2007, -0/+9C is for cookie, that's good enough for meeeee
- Grimdotdotdot, on 11/27/2007, -0/+9Also notice that the article is nearly 2 years old.
- lawngnomes4pres, on 11/27/2007, -4/+13Misleading title. They aren't actually changing his name...
- LargeTrout, on 11/27/2007, -0/+8I haven't seen this. Got any pics (no, seriously), or news articles?
- seanhive, on 11/27/2007, -0/+8Children should like cookies god damnit. We're not promoting fatness because we have a character named "Cookie Monster." Kids aren't retarded, you can't interchange celery with cookie and have kids celebrate that instead.
I'm sick of this soccer mom-influenced pussy culture that's been on the come-up the past couple of years. - paulakapdub, on 11/27/2007, -1/+8INTERVENTION!
http://www.photocasket.com/Funny/cookie-monster-ab ... - TannerPwnz, on 11/27/2007, -3/+10I think we all know how depriving the cookie monster of cookies went last time.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=xb6q_aplycA&feature=rel ... - inactive, on 11/27/2007, -0/+7Didn't the Cookie Monster die of Type II diabetes a couple years ago?
- ZenMojo, on 11/27/2007, -0/+7Thanks for sabotaging my childhood and removing the ability of children to make critical life choices on their own by brainwashing them with healthy habits. Cookie monster was never about education and indoctrination, he was about the silliness and irrationality of addiction. Kids knew they couldn't eat all the cookies that they wanted and that is why Cookie Monster was a harmless example of what not to be.
Likewise, the Count, Oscar the Grouch, even those two-headed monsters were all BAD examples. But we knew better than to emulate them because they were balanced with good examples. Now they're just being stupid. - DreKor, on 11/27/2007, -0/+5well, he will once the Zoloft kicks in and takes the edge of that depression he's been living with for 30 years
- ChromaVita, on 11/27/2007, -1/+5The next step is when the producers decides that his treat of choice needs to be Flying Spaghetti...
- meed, on 11/27/2007, -0/+4Why don't they just retire the cookie monster instead of giving him a labodomy? What is next? Big Bird going on a diet, because he's a 7 foot tall obease canary? Elmo getting put on ritalin? Kermit the frog gets a restraining order put on Ms Piggy? Oscar the grouch gets put on prozac?
Maybe they should just rename the damn show, because it's not the same show that children's parents watched as children. - BlazinEurasian, on 11/27/2007, -1/+5They should resolve this by making a nutrition segment. Instead of never introducing 'bad' things, kids (and some parents) need to be educated to make their own decisions. Seriously, get some A-list athlete to have a 30 second segment once a week explaining the benefits of proper nutrition then slam dunking a ball or doing 100 pushups. That would have way more effect than changing a monster with perpetual munchies. Real role models, not insane fluffy vegans.
Todays episode was brought to you by the letter C. C can spell many useful words like cookie, crap-parenting, crap-another-fat-person, and craptacular. - RpgActioN, on 11/27/2007, -0/+4Metal By Numbers...COOKIE COOKIE COOKIE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chiVMrWMHko - elijahalcantara, on 11/27/2007, -0/+4Cookie-Cookie-Cookie starts with Ceeeeeee~
- Evildudetx, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3That is not the point. The characters on sesame street are classic characters and should not have to change just because parents have become incredibly lazy. Cookie monster didn't shovel food in to your fat kid's mouth......you did, by not teaching them portion control. Now take away the x-box or playstation controls and throw your kids outside to play - maybe if they got some damn exercise, cookie monster wouldn't have to give up cookies.
- Armitage2k, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3Well, if my kids ever ate like Cookie Monster I would not worry in the least... because he never got 1 cookie into his gullet... he just crushed them all into little crumbs on the floor... my kids already know how to make a mess....
- InuX, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3You have to love people. Always blaming others for their own mistakes.
- paulakapdub, on 11/27/2007, -1/+4First Pluto............ now THIS!!! WTF!
- JohnFrum, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3Anyone else worried we're raising a generation of Nerf children?
- adikt, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3No, it's McDonald's fault apparently.
- Newbs, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3Man this article is 2 years old.
- CaviMike, on 11/27/2007, -0/+2They just need to make Cookie Monster go to the dentist more often on the show. Problem solved.
- Zippo, on 11/27/2007, -0/+2This doesn't have much to do with liberals... just political correctness and overly touchy parents. The wussification of America.
I'm liberal and C is for ***** Cookie. Cookie Monster was always my favourite character growing up. - epyon8282, on 11/27/2007, -0/+2C is for Crappy Change.....screw those who feel the need to change a classic saying in the name of political correctness!!!
- Masefield, on 11/27/2007, -0/+2Maybe the Celery Monster can be irradiated.
- brad3378, on 11/27/2007, -0/+2Stop Cookie Fascism - End Cookie Prohibition Now!
- greebowarrior, on 11/27/2007, -0/+2C is for 'this artiCle is 2 ***** years old'
- brad3378, on 11/27/2007, -2/+4Why is the word "vagina" any better? It means the same thing, but it is somehow more socially acceptable.
