- nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+184This study has got to be true. I've always had an uncanny ability to pick out camel toe. I'll be watching a movie with my wife and say "check out that camel toe" and my wife will shake her head and say "it bothers me that you notice these things so quickly." I think it's natural to be curious about the unknown, and there is no individual human feature as mysterious as the crotch. The face, on the other hand, is public knowledge.
- LifeIsARhythm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+164You look at crotches during a wet t-shirt contest?
- robotexplorer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+124... what do they expect when they color the crotch bright yellow/red.
/scsm - PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -4/+117Never really admitted this, but sometimes when I'm daydreaming during class I snap back to attention and realize my eyes had been fixed on some dude's crotch. Like wtf?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+97Not so much while watching sports, but a bikini or wet t-shirt contest? ... ABSOLUTELY!!!
- apolloandi, on 10/12/2007, -7/+90i guess were all a little bi-curious or something
- SolarisX, on 10/12/2007, -5/+86Just baseball fans
- tippmann1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+79I ... err uhh wasn't checking out his huge package... I have absolutely no idea what your talking about!
- Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -2/+68I'm confused!
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+66Men size up potential sexual competitors in probably a lot of the same ways women size up men as sexual partners. It doesn't mean the guy is looking at the crotch and going "Mmmm" but rather is subconsciously (or barely consciously) thinking "How do I compare to this guy? Will women find me more attractive, or him?"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+61blogspam, real link: http://www.ojr.org/ojr/stories/070312ruel/
the pic on their site:
http://www.ojr.org/ojr/images/1300/image7.gif - bcasper1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+47it probably has to do with some primitive instinct to 'size-up' potential rivals in the wild.
good thing we wear cloths now otherwise I'd be screwed. - Allymarie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+39as a woman.. I am not ashamed to say that i often check out the private parts of just about every one I'm looking at. I dont think that makes me bi (or a pervert) i think it makes me human and an inherently sexual being.
I wonder if the people in this study knew they were being studied. For me, that would explain why the women would do the "proper" thing and avoid the crotch.
crotch is a funny word. crotch crotch crotch - pikpikcarrotmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+38I think women just know how to look out of the sides of their eyes better.
- tabledesk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35@durkamcdurk
This study says that it's very likely that you do, considering men also spent lots of time glancing at the crotches in animal photos as well. You seem to be missing the point. - spatznick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33What would have happened if they conducted a study on a woman volleyball player?
- boombye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32If anything, it's probably us trying to compare our crotches to their's subliminally or something, while women on the other hand are so hung up on looks sometimes. You always hear a woman say "Oh my she's so pretty", but if the woman she's talking about has a better body it's sometimes "Oh she looks like a slut" or "Wow she has a nice figure".. I think we humans are just competitive by nature.
- Dustgunner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26News flash: Men look at crotches
For real?! - idandfei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21"What would have happened if they conducted a study on a woman volleyball player? "
My guess? Three distict points of interest. - Obsidian743, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Finally, someone with an ounce of sense.
- boombye, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24BTW, Women always look at crotches when they meet a guy. Ask 'em yourself. It's like their requirement as a woman or something, not sure how it is with gay women though.
- llamabox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21@apolloandi
My name is Butters, I'm 8 years old, I'm blood type O and I'm bi-curious! - LowRentDiggs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18"Also, I think this picture is a bad choice."
It says that the same is the case on pictures of animals as well so it's obviously something subconscious. - rheaume, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25punkrampant
"Never really admitted this, but sometimes when I'm daydreaming during class I snap back to attention and realize my eyes had been fixed on some dude's crotch. Like wtf?"
Time to hit some gay bars and figure it all out dude - PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17It's all about aim. Back in the day, on seeing women you aim your impregnation appendage, for dudes you aim your foot.
Simple. - withoutamartyr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Incidentally, I watched Labyrinth the other day with my girlfriend, and one of the first words out of my mouth were 'Oh my God David Bowie's bulge is freaking me out.'
She'd never noticed it before. - protocoI, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Personally, I was checking the pinetar on his bat first, but that's just me...
- discochew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I noticed a pretty large amount of women checkin out George's shoulder. What's up with that?
- demonotaku, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Dugg for the description.
- SilverBack101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Product placement near the genital regions perhaps?
- mistshadow2k4, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Dammit, you've found out our secret!
- ultrahombre, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13When I see a guy thats getting all the ladies I instantly jump to his crouch, Wondering if thats the reason.
BiG DiX - Innagadadavida, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Yes I agree. I think some guys might check to see if they can estimate the size of the guys package so they can compare it to their own. And because it's just a picture, they can never catch crap about it from other guys (who, ironically, would do the exact same thing).
- inmatarian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Every guy who looked at that package thought "I'm way bigger than that." Then they looked at the ball and though "strike zone."
- CaptainWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12That's right, they found out your secrets.
- crashflow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11@weister42
dude, the alarm on the bracelet around your ankle just went off. - marnaq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I am not ashamed to say that I checked out your profile.
- terribly1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Also looks like men look at the front foot, as well as (perhaps) where the bat swings out after a pitch?
Could be the gents follow the action (someone adjusting their crotch, for example) rather than just staring at the player's face. - StanleyKoolPrik, on 10/12/2007, -10/+18Men arent looking at his crotch, you *****-tards. Theyre looking at the strike-zone. Women look at his face because theyre oblivious to the game theyre watching.
- idandfei, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Wow, great story. I wish they went into more detail. I can understand them checking out ladies (down there), but it is curious that they check out dudes too. It must be subconscious though, because who would want to see George Brett's piece.
- cosmicr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7agreed. I'd be interested in seeing the results of this eye tracking done on animals looking at other animals.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+20more proof that everyone is gay to some extent?
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6how does one wear satire?
- smallestmills, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7George Brett's balls, no. Ivan (Pudge) Rodriquez's balls, yes.
- binarybandit92, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"Coyne adds that this difference doesn’t just occur with images of people. Men tend to fixate more on areas of private anatomy on animals as well, as evidenced when users were directed to browse the American Kennel Club site."
WTF!!! - anarchyinthekr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@antonio97b
"Its a picture. There is nothing going to happen. No ball will be hit."
while not as useful as video, a picture can still give you decent information regarding technique and form. apparently you have no knowledge of sports and you in fact are the idiot - epiccollision, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6so we check the stance on animals as well
- rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"I seriously doubt it's that men are checking 'down there'. [...]Also, I think this picture is a bad choice. The center of the picture is his waistline and his body is in an abnormal position."
How is it again? Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance.
Four more steps for you, idandfei =) - SjRaptor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5that's what you think....
- nernie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8it's also the place where contact would take place. this picture seems to show that the men as a whole were more interested in the baseball aspect (look how they notice the placement of the front foot, the area closest to the pitcher where the ball will enter the frame, the hands, etc.).
they say other pictures demonstrate something similar... let me see those, then i'll make my decision. this picture alone isn't very strong evidence. -
