- jmgoody311, on 11/05/2007, -1/+32If it ain't Baroque, don't fix it.

- Boshow, on 11/04/2007, -1/+23Why do they have a picture of the couch and not the painting? Why would I want to see a ***** couch?
- inactive, on 11/06/2007, -0/+20Bender: Loose change you say?
Dr Zoidberg: Potato chips you say? - DamageInc, on 11/05/2007, -1/+19$30,000 painting aside, she paid $300 for that sofa!? Did you see the picture of it!?
- sickrubik, on 11/03/2007, -1/+15From broke to baroque!
HEYO! - anonydigg, on 11/08/2007, -0/+10Captain Redundant: Doing one better than Captain Obvious. :)
- bagelpirate, on 11/03/2007, -0/+9Yahoo News is lazy, i doubt that was the actual couch.
- ausfahrt, on 11/02/2007, -0/+7No way that was way lamer. Captain Obvious to the rescue! First is just annoying. But i guess that IS my opinion.
- BESTenemy, on 11/03/2007, -0/+7I read your comment and clicked on "Reply to RoyalPwner's comment" in order to leave my reply. After typing themessage I clicked "Submit Comment" and there it was!
(No *****!) - Indyanna, on 11/04/2007, -8/+14All I ever find is loose change and old potato chips.
- venom1221, on 11/03/2007, -1/+7how about a picture of the painting instead of the sofa?
- inactive, on 11/04/2007, -1/+6WOW.
Imagine her surprise when she found a valuable painting in her old c00ch. - pharekyz, on 11/04/2007, -0/+5That comment was so bad, I'm seriously considering reporting it as offensive.
- diggleague, on 11/07/2007, -3/+7I really liked Scott Adam's take on the painting:
http://dilbertblog.typepad.com/the_dilbert_blog/20 ... - sonick, on 11/04/2007, -0/+4Went for Baroque... lol, horrible.
- jsantos17, on 11/02/2007, -0/+3Like some digger said above "Yahoo News is lazy, i doubt that was the actual couch."
- jhnewt, on 11/02/2007, -0/+3Wow.
- SonicAD, on 11/03/2007, -0/+3You mean Redundant Captain Redundancy.
- david050, on 11/02/2007, -0/+3i hate yahoo news! Why would you show a picture of a ***** old couch and not the work of art, the main focus of the story?!!!! YA KNOW!
- chad78, on 11/04/2007, -1/+4that was awesome. I don't even know if that is an actual quote or not - but it is definitely something they would say. U R FTW!
- NeoCortex, on 11/04/2007, -0/+3I guess that's what happens when you run out of Monet.
- inactive, on 11/02/2007, -1/+3Seriously Your Honor, I found it in my couch.
/* If that's your story then stick to it.*/ - penguinxp, on 11/02/2007, -0/+2no no, you have it all wrong. that IS a picture of the painting. it is a flying couch that is getting prepped to go to egypt of course.
- tcsucks, on 11/03/2007, -0/+2+1
And who the hell would pay $300 for that?!?? - inactive, on 11/03/2007, -0/+2What is so hard about typing €?
- bjs3171, on 11/02/2007, -0/+1one time i found a bag of weed under the sofa in my freshman common room. this is better.
- mercurysquad, on 11/03/2007, -0/+1Yes but you have to be stupid enough to buy a $300 USED couch.
- rkzda, on 11/03/2007, -0/+1That is not the actual couch, it is a file photo.
- Dokument, on 11/02/2007, -0/+1lolcat interpretation
http://newmedia.funnyjunk.com/pictures/ihasamoney. ... - tnoy, on 11/02/2007, -0/+1"The student got about 16,000 euros from the sale."
- Shiner6, on 11/02/2007, -0/+1Right, which is why in the article it said the seller got 16,000 euros of the 19,200 value.
- DrDigg, on 11/02/2007, -0/+1You get full credit for adding the HEYO
- davewashere, on 11/02/2007, -0/+1The $27,660 figure probably does not include the premium the auction houses typically charge, which would bring the figure that the buyer actually pays to about $30,000. For some reason the true price to the buyer is rarely reported except when it makes a nice round number for a headline. I don't know why that is the case. The cost to the buyer - and not the gavel price - is the true market value for a good at that given time.
- davewashere, on 11/02/2007, -0/+1That was my first thought as well. I've seen sofas in much better shape sitting on the side of the road with a "FREE" sign on them. I, too, came to the conclusion that Yahoo News is a bunch of lazy ***** who just post news service stories and "enhance" them with related pictures that may or may not be actually related to the story in question.
- livejamie, on 11/02/2007, -1/+1damnit why doesn't this ever happen to me
- Shiner6, on 11/03/2007, -1/+1Title: Student Finds $30,000 Baroque Painting Inside Old $300 Sofa
FTA: The artwork fetched 19,200 euros ($27,660)...
Did the extra $2,340 really make the title that much more exciting? - CedEx, on 11/03/2007, -1/+1I have a mini-celebration when I find loose change.
- Specht1988, on 11/03/2007, -2/+2who would spend so much money on that piece of ***** couch
- ChaosMotor, on 11/03/2007, -1/+1My guess is it was a painting stolen by the Nazis and stashed in the couch for... well, that part's inexplicable.
- bonhoeffer, on 11/02/2007, -0/+0MOF, my wife did find an envelop containing 115 French Francs and a WWII letter in a desk she bought at a yard sale last summer; between the drawer and the bottom panel of the desk.
- KatCat, on 11/02/2007, -0/+0Actually, she didn't even know how much it was worth until she went on a TV show (I am guessing something like Antique Road show) and they told her the starting price in an auction would be between 6K and 7K.
She dropped the painting of at the auction house after the show. - Frnnkdlxx, on 11/03/2007, -1/+1Now, to wipe the feces and semen off of the $30,000 painting..
- ronaldinho, on 11/03/2007, -1/+1I'm going back home to probe around my mattresses and sofa to see if there are any valuable paintings hidden
- inactive, on 11/04/2007, -0/+0Is the € key located next to the Any Key?
- SuperSexySadie, on 11/02/2007, -0/+0okay, so she sold it for 19, 200 euros.....but what was the commission? That is the part these articles never tell you. I understand the commission is often as much as 50 percent on this little jobbies.
- KrayzieKyd, on 11/02/2007, -2/+2Notice how every account appraises the painting for a different amount. I'll bid a dollar, Bob.
- themastersb, on 11/03/2007, -1/+1A-are you going to eat those chips? ......wanna split 'em?
