In the U.S. we have so many idiotic laws that it's hard to make it through a day without unknowingly committing a crime. I know Cali is practically a police state. People are discriminated against for past mistakes and it's wrong. - Hetman, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2This is a major problem. Lets take this for example. A 16 year old kids gets caught with over two ounces of marijuna. Was he selling? Maybe or Maybe not. If he is charged as an adult and Charged with a felony the rest of his life is pretty much over. Unless of course he can find a private contractor or private company that knows him and will look past his felony. Even if this person was to serve his time in Jail, go to college, and never perform another crime in his life. With a felony it would still be really hard for him to get a job. If he cannot find work, the only other place left for him is welfare or crime or both. Seriously it is a major problem in America and should be fixed.

Want to get a job? Don't commit crimes! It's win-win for you... you don't get to go to jail, and you can get a job more easily.
Additionally, knowing a person's criminal background is important in many professions, like schools for example.
