- sarazen, on 10/10/2007, -11/+59Dang, I hate to be the one to do it, but this article is just begging for it...
Picts or it didn't happen. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+35birds as big as planes.... way cool. Now if only someone can snap a picture with their cellphone/digicam/dslr ...
- strafefire, on 10/10/2007, -7/+30And with that, this ranks up there with Bigfoot, Loch Ness, Yehtis, and...Manbearpig...
- reddevil3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22I always wish things like these turn out to be true...but they are probably false.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17I've never seen a more appropriate place for that comment.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15an interesting link with drawings and information
http://www.angelfire.com/indie/anna_jones1/evidence.html - 0crabby0, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Don't worry, I've contacted the kid who shot the giant pig in Alabama - He said he'll be in San Antonio to kill the bird tomorrow...lol
- nars, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12DEFINITELY AN EFFECT OF GLOBAL WARMING
- ShaneApex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12It is the mystical bird that the Cupacabra rides.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Apparently this bird has been sighted all along the Mississippi flyway and has been filmed.
Analysis of the wing beats seems to show it is very large as eye witnesses report.
I don't know if the footage is online anywhere.
http://www.cryptozoology.com/cryptids/thunderbird.php - swimmingbird67, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11i live in san antonio. this is about the most exciting thing that's happened since the spurs won the championship.
/sarcasm.
but not really. - Fritzed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Cellphone cameras are the bane of cryptozoologists
- burstaneurysm, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Maybe it's just me, but I don't see why this article was published now... "sightings of a huge flying creature have been reported as recently as six months ago" Really? 6 months ago? And now they're writing a story that by all accounts discusses a sighting ten years ago?
I know people hate it when the age of a story is pointed out, but this just seems silly. Digg me down now. - daedalus779, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9does no one have a digital camera or cell phone camera in san antonio? come on people get with the times!
- smackywentz, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12Never mind, I found free footage. Crazy stuff...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=DNQ5O4fYMtg - tuzziel, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Teratorn? "This thing's all feathers, all black"
looks like one of these:
http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/bodhidharma/giantbirds3.html - kilahri, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Aye! Celts and scots or it didn't happen.
- domomike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I agree Ortega... It's like... Just buy a camera you stupid rednecks.
Buried for making your stupid redneck comment. - dynamitehacker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Hmm... large, black, rare bird in the southern U.S.... sounds a lot like a California Condor. San Antonio is inside their original range, and they've been making a comeback lately after almost going extinct.
- GawtMilk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Indie Anna Jones?
- killcops, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8i for one welcome our new giant thunder bird overlords
- morgrar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I hope it exists. It'd be something cool for the world to see. Unfortunately, some ***** will probably end up killing it.
- dondara, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6We are talking Texas after all. Surprised it wasn't shot already.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6You've obviously never been to san antonio.
- dsanonline, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Nature is fighting back against us. Slowly but surely we shall drop to the bottom of the food chain. You watch.
- Lochie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Zapdos?
- acroyear2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I lived there for 18 years. I never saw this bird...
"like this one from a recent sighting near Huebner and Babcock roads." Although this makes me nervous. That's where my mom lives. I should set up some cameras there. - Protoss, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Probably just the Hurley Bird (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Hurley_bird).
- TheCosmicFool, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I for one am disappointed that the thunderbirds lack any thunder/lightning abilities...
Though the fact that these things could exist means theres something scarier (that can fly) to run into than a bear or wildcat. - nurall, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6its in Texas, we're more likely to shoot it with a gun then a camera.
- slayerab, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Thanks for the pics, now I can imagine it happening
- Empyrean, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Thats because it timewarped your Firefox back to the '98 era of angelfire.com haha
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5LULZ
- loganhid, on 10/10/2007, -8/+12Man, i need this bird to complete my mission. 'Gotta catch them all' with my poke-ball
- diggdong, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I've been next to some turkey vultures that seemed to be about 3ft tall.
- acroyear2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4no, you're right. nothing else goes on in that city.
- LethalAmbition, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4The chupacabra must have evolved wings.
- Visceral, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I won't speak to the veracity of the claims, but I do live just a few mile from where the latest supposed sighting took place in SA. It's right near where the city starts to thin out and where the Texas hill country starts. For those who don't know, the hill country is well...hilly..and way underpopulated. There would be a reasonable chance something that large could exist and pass through the area to wherever it's going. For a perfect description of the area, read any of the original Conan the Barbarian stories by Howard, he based Conan's home land on the Texas Hill country. Coincidence?!? Heh.
As for the giant bird itself, I'll personally be just a tad nervous and keeping my eyes out :) - Ortega08, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Shooting it would be the worst thing to do. I hate it when there is a giant or rare animal that is found and some douchbag has to go and shoot it. There are a lot of wonders in nature that people like you end up destroying, it's horrible.
- ziffel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4The first thing I thought of when I saw this was some redneck with a shotgun will try to kill it and then mount it on his den wall next to his singing Billy Big Mouth Bass.
- smackywentz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3This is all I could find. You have to pay for the "footage."
http://www.chiefaj.com/thunderbird.htm
I imagine it looks relatively similar to the Andean Condor:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/07/images/040722_andeancondor.jpg - fussbucket, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yeah, the Richard Geer movie, The Mothman Prophecies, was based on that. According to the legend, and movie, a horrible disaster will take place in or around San Antonio fairly soon like the bridge collapse that occurred in WV...but probably not.
- crapmatic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4This ought to be dugg down as hearsay, since nobody can provide photos. I guess we might as well start submitting Elvis UFO stories.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3We could make an airliner out of it, like on the Flintstones. OK I got nothin'
- Albionshores, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3http://digg.com/offbeat_news/Bridge_Collapses_in_Minneapolis_Sending_Cars_Into_Mississippi_River
- Lane, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I remember a large vulture or condor or something escaping from the dallas zoo months ago. it could have something to do with it.
- PixelEater, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This isn't a game, man!
- mrdeathgod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Just use Thunder, Jump, and then stab it in the face like 8 times.
- dadavexx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Its really the virgin mary in disguise.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Thunderbirds make good eatin'. Roast 'em up with potato, stick some apricot in there, that's a mighty fine dish.
