- ChaosProfessor, on 07/08/2009, -0/+17there is a joke in there somewhere
- ed4649, on 07/08/2009, -0/+15Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.
- CB810, on 07/08/2009, -0/+12That's a lotta unfinished bridges. Bridges ain't cheap, son...
- Teradoc, on 07/08/2009, -1/+11Is it just me, but citing Flickr as your main source for saying a rickety pedestrian foot bridge would cross the Atlantic, seem a little skeptical?
Failsite - mattmeow, on 07/08/2009, -1/+11Neat pictures but what a crap article! The "unfinished bridge in florida" is obviously the same as the "bahia honda bridge". A newer looking small wooden raised walkway is an "abandoned cross-atlantic bridge". Below this looks to be a picture of a pier, not a bridge. What about the docks at the end? Dock's aren't bridges. Looks like this was taken from ebaum's world or something.
- ArmchairEcon, on 07/08/2009, -1/+11i question the validity of that 'transatlantic' bridge from smith point in long island to somewhere in spain.. did the author do any research beside cut and paste the description from the flickr page?
- socialpyramid, on 07/08/2009, -1/+10My great grandpa actually painted the Bahia Honda Bridge. He left my grandpa to live with a German fisherman for much of the time.
- twinklyJesus, on 07/08/2009, -1/+9Your post displays the awesome power of Captain Obvious
- Flinty, on 07/08/2009, -0/+6database server died.. anyone know an alternative site where I can get my fill of unfinished bridges?
- apastafarian, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5Link to nowhere!
- DirtyVicar, on 07/08/2009, -2/+6Server to nowhere.
The webhost for interbent.com is GoDaddy. It seems half the time when a site goes down from the Digg effect it's a GoDaddy site. - Twinnie, on 07/08/2009, -1/+5I'm not buying that cross-atlantic bridge. Is that an American inside joke or something?

I'm too lazy to find the rest. - mrpunman, on 07/09/2009, -0/+4Must be a ruined and unfinished server
- salvadorwii, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4Error establishing a database connection
yes, very sad... - DLit, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4trust me, i know a short cut... oh wait
- WNW3, on 07/09/2009, -0/+4great grandpa left his son, social pyramid's grandpa, with a German fisherman...I'm guessing to babysit..or bait hooks
- AmazingSteve, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4172 Diggs and it's dead. Nice server.
- JollyLizard, on 07/08/2009, -2/+5There is something sad in these photos... But very interesting collection! Thanks.
- ftwb, on 07/09/2009, -0/+3Those aren't unfinished bridges, they're finished piers.
- tamano, on 07/09/2009, -0/+3I showed these photos to my wife, and she told me this reminded her of our marriage, and started crying.
Now she won't come out of her room. What should I do? - CaptObvious, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3They're just not thinking fourth-dimensionally.
- bradcoudriet, on 07/09/2009, -0/+3The destruction of the Kinzua Viaduct was such a loss. I remember as a kid walking and riding the train over that bridge. I used to walk across the bridge, and wondering if my little feet were going to fall through the wood slats. Then we used to hike back across the ravine to the other side. So sad that it is gone. It was truly a national treasure.
- avianeddy, on 07/08/2009, -1/+3"thenks, but no thenks"
- YumYumTruck, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Maybe its just cause of my old french teacher, but I always thought the one in avignon was famous.
- Aroundtown27, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Looks like a foot bridge... That is a hell of a long walk
- wicki1, on 07/08/2009, -1/+3CommOn Man!!!Repair theMm
- squashpup, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2Abandoned roads and bridges fascinate me for some reason. Wikipedia has a fairly extensive section on abandoned highways that you can browse for hours. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Demolished_h ...
and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unused_highwa ... - shiftkgb, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2Or in other words, "we want dead tourists"
- Hu99, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2The Hoover Dam one is a work in progress and won't be finished until sometime in 2010. The "trans-Atlantic" bridge was obviously wrong, but there were enough evocative and interesting pics to make this worth reading.
- popltree2, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2Something is absolutely haunting about the bridge in winter. The grey and blue color is amazing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER5AZDzrvRk - Canadian0207, on 07/08/2009, -1/+3Looking at pics of unfinished bridges on a Wednesday evening. MLIA.
- ArmchairEcon, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2something tells me the author just googled for some cool pictures with a attention grabbing title and hoped that no one would read the actual content nor give any thought beside 'ooh, what a nice picture', then posted on digg hoping the mindless drones on here would digg him up to get some hits.. (and it looks like its working)
(buried..) - SevenTwo, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2You betcha!
- snowrail, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2Yes, it's a joke (although I'm not so sure that the person who did this particular list gets that). It's just a boardwalk AFAIK.
- snafflepaffle, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1Ummm... Seems pretty clear that one was a joke.
- dustinbolton, on 07/27/2009, -0/+1dead link
- tankenka, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1I was just hoping that one was a joke.
- CATSCEO2, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1Funny sense they advertise on DiggNation.
- ftwb, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1Damn global warming.
- DrLeePhD, on 07/08/2009, -1/+2road to nowhere? and "Error establishing database connection". Is this some kind of clever coincidence ?
- Dustmuffins, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1I've ridden my snowmobile and dirt bike to the Kinzua bridge. It's amazing in person and climb on the rubble.
- AmazingSteve, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1Well played. You win the interwebs today my friend.
- Chewie67, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1A wooden, pedestrian bridge from Long Island to Spain?
Yeah, I'd say that's a joke. - tamano, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1I'm strangely intrigued by this German fisherman.... Please tell us more.
- stevenc4444, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1all these remind me of the end of the world!
- inactive, on 07/09/2009, -1/+2One big absentee : BELGIUM.
Given its tiny size, the country must rank very high - proportionally - given the number of abandoned projects or crazy building schemes. This explains their national debt : politicians and contractors thrive on those building works. There are a few good jokes around on the subject. -
