A years confinement costs most jurisdictions around $30 K; a good federal prosecutors salary is usually between $50 and $75 K. I live near a hood through which I drive and I go all the time to certain grocery stores and restaurants. I've been seeing girls and women who I KNOW were not prostituting themselves, that now are. They don't look happy about it or comfortable with it either, but do you get kicked out of your apartment when you've got a child or do you do whatever it takes to keep your baby safe and fed? What if the husband just leaves and she has no job b/c he was the sole breadwinner?
My problems and those of most diggers are probably nothing like the problems of those who have to live in the hood. Most of us live pretty blessed lives whether we've got the gadgets we want or not. In short, that's a douchebag judge. He can drive to the country club in his mercedes this weekend and his kids will get to sign for all the food they want while they play in the pool, but what choice would he make if he were in the same situation?
