- jasdf, on 10/11/2007, -1/+61Who would want a diamond covered skull in the first place, let alone pay $100M for it?
- Rezzy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+56His reaction was probably worth more than his piece.
- Anrkist, on 10/11/2007, -1/+56Art beats art.
- kplo, on 04/01/2009, -2/+53That is clever. Damn clever.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -18/+62Buried as inaccurate. Damien Hirst is not an artist. And a price tag is not artwork.
- nymphetamine, on 10/11/2007, -1/+28Depends who's skull it was.
- PATSCRU, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22swarovski crystals can be bought in bulk at jewelry supply stores cheaper than you can get glass beads....
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22I'd rather have a diamond-covered pelvis.
- JamesWilson, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20Diamonds.. she'll pretty much have to.
- ChayD, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19I have to disagree with the proposed irony of Damien's original piece - "I dislike the diamond trade, therefore I'm going to buy thousands of diamonds from them - that'll really hurt them" Oh really? Nope, IMHO Laura's work is actually more poignant.
- xTRUMANx, on 10/11/2007, -4/+21Rich Emos?
- empressofmetal, on 10/11/2007, -5/+21That's pretty funny. But the artist used Swavorski crystals in her prank piece, which is still expensive. I read about some of the guy who did this and is selling her version with fake diamonds.
- Modulo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Diamonds are forever. Or at least the portion of forever until a certain threshold of people realize that diamonds can now be manufactured now and are actually completely worthless.
- fwc67, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9But they don't say whether he actually went by it or saw it.
- TheKorn2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Anyone have a link to the original piece? Without reference, it's a punchline without the set-up.
- bortis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Actually, I have been convinced. I quick perusal of modern art publications seems to suggest that the contemporary artist is not nearly enough interested in producing convincing likenesses of trees, fruit or religious figures. Particularly absent are dignitaries in dramatic poses. The world of art has indeed come unhinged.
- tidu, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9If you'd like a more yellow-hue, our representative named Goldmember will be on the line in a second to talk to you.
- lostboy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9this pretty humourous. i found Damien Hursts skull pretty amusing in itself; an example of excess of modern life, and he himself expressed his distaste at the diamond trade in regards to this. He realized there could potentially be blood on his hand from conflict diamonds used in his work. How high a price do you have to pay before being satisfied, how much can you justify art?
- SebHughes, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6That is classic, too bad there isn't any pictures of peoples reactions.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4well who wants to spend hours painting a lovely picture when you can sell crap like an unmade bed as an "art" piece for £10,000?. i know which one i would go for given the choice
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5like someone who posted 11 hours ago is going to come back to answer because someone called him out 11 hours later
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Damien Hirst is an artist, at manipulating the art world, but other than that, he's pretty pathetic. and while this piece is clever, it mainly just serves to draw attention to something that isn't remotely worth any, it's just piggybacking on stupid.
- ChayD, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Now *that's* what I call art!
- Duositex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"Last night, an artist created a replica...."
Talk about poorly worded. It took the artist a month to make the replica. - Puppetfunk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Emo Rappers.
- wiremonkeymommy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2points for clarity, style and execution; well played!
- Linga, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2007/06/01/bahirst101.xml
Article comes with pix showing how he made it. - warpdesign, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Maybe Bush had Geronimos skull encrusted with all the oil money...
- xobecide, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Something is only worth what the highest bidder will pay.. I'd love to see this go up in auction for 100m
- mishaco, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2the prank is on us . damien hirst is a replica .
hes a copy of warhol . and a ***** one at that . - Mothrog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1People have been making lab rubies for a long time. Real ruby is still worth plenty. Unfortunately, lots of people still put a lot of value on something just because it got pulled out of the ground instead of getting pulled out of a lab.
- PATSCRU, on 10/11/2007, -5/+6snowflake is more on the money than anyone on this thread.
- sifeliz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1the picture of him sticking his tongue in the skulls mouth is kinda ***** up
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/graphics/2007/06/02/skull15.jpg - xram12, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1art is war

- Boofster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1And then?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Nice!, real art!, the other is just a polished turd for the grotesquely rich.
Death mask covered in blood diamonds, truly disgusting...... - acroyear2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1PERFECT.
- Nebulosus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1HAHAHAHAHA.... satire artists of the world, I salute you!
- idonthack, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1*whoosh*

you - idonthack, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Dammit, wrong thread. Sorry. Just bury me.
- shortarabguy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4Diamonds: When she won't give head for them, give her some subtle hints in the form of more diamonds.
- markmontez, on 06/30/2008, -0/+0Don't have any need for a $100m skull, so...
I got some amazing Contemporary Lighting for my house from...
http://www.contemporaryheaven.co.uk/productcats.as ... - DariusMDeV, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Imagine what she'd be like on a web thread? Her ability to flame the previous post would be unrivaled.
- micpoc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Exactly
- ventivent, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Are those original Air Jordan IV's in the background?
- lhnz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1A "source" told me that Bush actually had a iraqi's child's skull encrusted.
- shortarabguy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2It goes perfectly with the tin-foil helmet, the gold pants, and the lead vest.
It's hard to imagine it without a picture, but you'll get it when the picture comes out. - graemee, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2art-pwned
