As well black colleges, Latino and black scholarships and other crap. Please do not get me wrong. I am not racist. But if anyone actually said hey we want a white college, a scholarship to help white students and a white high school you would be hanged. The ***** city of Toronto is in the midst of making a black only high school and is considering a Latino only high school. So much for equality and getting rid of segregation.....

- badwithcomputer, on 03/06/2008, -5/+134there's a black student union and some students tried to start a white students union which was, of course, met with huge outrage and sparked a similar wave of email wars. someone actually references it in one of the responses i posted up at the top of comments. people at college don't want to hear your opinion, they just want you to think like them. it's surprisingly intolerant for the kind of stuff they're always pushing in your face.
- Ellipsys, on 03/06/2008, -3/+89Great job. I went to a very, very ethnically diverse university. There were clubs for just about every ethnicity, sub-ethnicity, race, and cultural group. Except of course, for white males. Now, I'm not entirely white (I am however, entirely male), but I experienced constant discrimination based upon my partial-whiteyness. Everyone had the notion that white males didn't "deserve" to have a club, meetings, or events, and that they were inherently "evil", plotting how to keep down women and "minorities" everywhere. On top of this, if a white male just showed up at someone else's racial or ethnic club, they were treated poorly. Some would say that white people didn't "belong" here, and others would simply ignore with silent disdain until you went away. If you had someone of that racial group as a friend to vouch for you things were slightly better, but if the group of choice had another language associated with it expect native-speakers to quickly switch to something you don't understand when you approach. It was really a horrible experience. The entire university pitched their diversity as a major selling point, but there wasn't really so much intermingling of racial and cultural groups - everyone just clumped together in their ethnicity,language, or sexual orientation and really didn't interact with outsiders.
Props to you for what you're doing. I think you may have made a better impression if you saved some of the tongue-in-cheek jokes, considering how touchy this subject is, but still your responses are well thought out. The hypocrisy of groups that think they are "oppressed" and have to be "celebrated" or "struggle against adversity" is staggering. Every 2 weeks or so the common areas would be decorated with some race+sex's contribution to diversity. There would be all sorts of little fun facts about who invented, discovered, or pioneered something. Well finally it came, a day I never thought would, the "White Male's Contribution to Diversity". Before noon it was all torn down for being racist, I found written on some of the posters in marker returning from my first class "NAZI!", and "KILL WHITEY" and other similar phrases, this hadn't happened with any of the other races/sex combos.
Obviously I was offended when it was all torn down and I was told by my RA that it was taken down for being insensitive and suggestively racist. My bad I didn't realize that being a white man made me an insensitive racist straight out the womb. Of course I took it up with the local dorm administration and was basically just told to drop it.
So in my infinite maturity at an angry 18 year old insensitive racist white man, I tp'ed the head of the dorms room and peed in his car window. Deep down inside I hope he felt my pain. - bryik, on 03/06/2008, -0/+45When I was in college, our goal was to get our "party house" into girls.

The scholarship committy about lost it when they realized they had awarded the scholarship to a white student. Turns out though he was the only student born and raised in Africa that applied. He kept his scholarship.

And just like in Christianity, you are born with sin (being white, or a man). - thailand1972, on 03/06/2008, -1/+42Feminism is supposed to be about gender equality, but they do not support father's rights or any other male rights movement - in fact they actively OPPOSE these movements - movements which are about trying to redress the balance in the family courts. These movements are a reaction to the exclusivity of feminism and the fact it only focuses on women's issues (yet they purport to be about gender equality). Every single men's rights movement has been opposed by feminists which tells you a lot about the feminist movement. Gender relations are a ***** in the west largely thanks to feminism and its narrow view on what is and what isn't inequality.

The vast majority of them state "Must be black, asian, native american, ... etc to apply". The rest say you have to be a woman. Out of about 100 scholarships in that packet, I was only eligible to even apply for about 4 of them. Those required like a 3.75 GPA, 4 letters of recommendation, and community service work.
Why do they even bother to state who is allowed to apply? They should just put at the top of all the scholarships: NO WHITES, NO MEN
Honestly, I don't mind celebration of a particular culture that isn't always highlighted in the media & our educational system. I'm all for an awarness month or week for minorities, and with women getting special groups and services.
