    I think a lot of the irresponsibility of young college students is a result of the fact that they have never been allowed to drink in the past. Many drink before they are 21 anyway and from my experience those are the ones that are better off in college.

    Just because some people are irresponsible does not mean you should burden the rest of the population IMO. Let people fall down, it's healthy.

    I've imagined that during running marathons, instead of tiny little water cups, they're filled with vodka. They run by the table and grab one, take a swig, throw the rest of themselves and just keep on going. At the end of the race, they're greeted by Techno Viking which progresses into a dance party. More vodka at that part too.

    This country (the UK) is ***** as a whole and the drink problem we have is just the tip of the iceberg. I would hate to see what it's going to be like in 5 years time, but with a bit of luck I won't be here to experience it first hand.

  • catachip, on 04/07/2009, -22/+36Yeah, if anyone was dumb enough to do that they should know they are on the fast track to alcohol poisoning. You can't just dump a liter of poison (we all love alcohol, but it's essentially dilute poison) into your body at once and expect no consequence.

    This type of binge drinking is what has pushed the drinking age in America to 21. If we were more like the Europeans, who have a more mature attitude towards alcohol in their society, and generally don't binge drink, then we'd certainly be better off.
