- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+98of course its some 16 year old driving a mom and dad bought car ... what a punk ... hope the cops take care of this little brat

- raprazant, on 10/12/2007, -3/+90Wow what are the chances that someone on the same forum as you snapped pics like that!

An RSX is a glorified Civic.
Civics are GREAT cars to get you back and forth to work reliably while only sipping gas. They are right up there with Corollas as possibly the best commuter cars you can buy.
My mom bought a brand new 94 Civic to use on her rural paper route. 20 miles of dirt roads a day, plus another 80 miles of pavement while carrying the weight of hundreds and hundreds of newspapers (she actually carried for two different papers). After 300,000 miles, the damn thing was still strong as a horse, but of course the car was beaten beyond recognition. She had hit 3 deer with it over the course of 13 years. No other car I know of could have survived that long. She went through an Olds that lasted 2 years, and a Mercury that lasted 1. The Civic lasted 13. That goes to show how Civics are also absolutely damn near indestructible cars.
That said, THEY ARE NOT ***** RACE CARS. GET OVER IT. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -27/+92@riccohasdug
Firstly, "Dave and Heather" live in Canada where marijuana is medically legal countrywide. Secondly, marijuana can inspire people to think creatively and intellectually. You're assuming that they smoke their own stash, but they could just be pharmacy growers. - kafitz22, on 10/12/2007, -8/+61or that his zoom lens was actually a pokeball in disguise

- hohlermann, on 10/12/2007, -3/+50digital zoom != optical zoom
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -28/+75This is the most interesting photo in the guy who took the photos PhotoBucket account:
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h313/Dave_n_Heather/Misc%20Pics/tray_of_buds.jpg - OmniMe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+48I await the followup story to this...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+45The people who need a little police action beating never get it.
- CalgaryDave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38Howdy people...Yes this is THE photographer. First of all...no those are not "my buds", not that I wouldn't mind them. Secondly, yes we stopped to see if everyone was all right. I made the initial 911 call after snapping the pics. The first few were from my drivers seat...rest was out on the road as he sped past with others in pursuit. And still have not heard any results from the cops yet. The Mercedes driver and passengers were ok...all three of them. They were young guys too.
- RadioFreeOpium, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40This is great, don't you just wish every time someone did something awful and tried to sneak out of it there was a photographer to capture the moment? Those kids look like such douches
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+39hit+run implies nothing other than what it says. It could mean he hit another car, a house, a mailbox, a person and then ran.
Just because you assume it to be a person doesn't mean the title isn't descriptive enough.
RTFA. - griz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37I hope the authorities see this and show up at his house...
- Elfeckin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30What are the odds of having such a super awesome lens/camera combo on you at that exact moment.../me applauds TypeS
- riccohasdug, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28Whatever type of camera/lens it is, it just made me look at my crappy digital camera with disgust.
- azenone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21http://www.flickr.com/photos/83627503@N00/418840399/
- tcquad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21I would normally agree, but the forum timeline shows that both of these members posted separately, with different information. The guy who was hit stated watch out for this guy due to a hit-and-run. The photographer asked in a different thread for an identification of the car model, which he witnessed in a hit and run. A third person noted the similarities between the two stories and crossed the threads.
- riccohasdug, on 10/12/2007, -17/+31Thank you, lys3rgic, for giving me further info. I also thank you for the quick pro-marijuana message :)
I Dugg you up. - nmr8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14tow companies are evil
- CedEx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Why is it always Bubba? You'd think Bubba would have some sort of standards or something.
- abravo56, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Why would anyone use Photobucket to host images they want a lot of people to see? I'm tired of this.
- darkslim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14photobucket sucks!
- Paperclip1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13this is all so relevant to me -_-
i was victim of a hit and run sunday morning (bout 1am) (bastard hit me from behind in took off, i drive an integra, and he was in an explorer, i got shoved to the other side of the street)
AND my camera was stolen by the tow company.
life sucks. - ldkronos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Pretty good if you are at all serious about photography. I carry a camera with me at all times. You never know when you are going to see something interesting.
- vigil, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Said below, but it's not the 2.8 70-200 it's the 4 stop. The 4 has more or less a uniform barrel width, 2.8 is narrow at the mount ring and blows up about a half inch into the barrel.
Can't tell what base that is, but it looks like the Rebel XT. FOVF means the max zoom is actually a decent amount longer than 200.
That said well done with the camera. Hope they catch the little kid. - darksheer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15200 x 1.6 on that camera = 320mm.
that's a pretty solid distance. No, it's not a big 400mm or something, but for consumer level, its definitely reasonable.
Oh, and its pretty obvious how he didn't see; punk little kid not paying any attention cause he's too freaked out at what he's doing. - humanseemer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10They didn't want a lot of people to see, looks like he was just hosting it for that forum.
Anyone mirror the images? Duggmirror didn't catch it before the bandwidth was exceeded. - einsteinx2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Well the thing that doesnt make it as strange as it could be is that the forum that is posted in is a local Alberta forum. So its not like a random guy from the internet posted the pics (well sorta but whatever), they all live in the same place. He just happened to be there and be a member on the forum. Coincidence yes, but not impossible or definitely faked or anything.
- hadak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10what a douchebag
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10"flee from a hit-and-run accident"?
it's only hit-and-run AFTER you flee from it. - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"If you're going to flee from a hit-and-run accident, try to make sure there isn't some photographer with a massive zoom lens that will plaster your license plate, and face all over the internet!"
If you fail at this, post it on digg and bring the site down. - eetraveller, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Yeah I recognize that part of South Calgary, Alberta. The photo was taken at 5:23pm on Saturday, and thanks to the power of the internets this punk will probably be in the hands of the Calgary Police Service by the end of today.
- CalgaryDave, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10This is the complete story: http://www.pokerknightsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5009
- travisd666, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12It seems highly unusual that the photographer would drive off after taking the photos, only to find the victim on some online forum. You'd expect that he'd immediately offer up his evidence to a) the police and b) the victim as soon as the situation occurred, instead of getting home to post it on the Internet to make the connection. Seems like BS to me.
- Hubris, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I'd wager it isn't stolen, there are a lot of nice cars owed (purchased and insured) by parents for their kids. Police will need about 10 seconds to investigate this....that's a better shot than the photo radar images we all hate.

"From the headline, I thought he actually threw his zoom lens at the guy."
That's what Crocodile Dundee would have done - FieldAnonymouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You guys are right... I admit to being an idiot. Well, at least sometimes.
- edg3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Here's the 3 images posted in the forum thread as more people are asking for mirrors:

http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/3307/hitandrunve2.jpg - dignation, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7just see the look on that guy's face and you can tell he's a douche bag.
- controltheweb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7THE RESULT:
About an hour later a cop said the driver's Mom had phoned saying she was sending her son in to confess.
When the cops originally arrived, no one could figure out where the guy was that got hit. About 20 minutes the guy came back. He was shown the pictures and was happy because he lost the kid in the chase. - selfprodigy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Can someone upload the picture again, the photobucket links aren't working.
- titanpk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I promise you this is not fake. I've personally know Calgary Dave for a couple of years and he's a stand up guy..
If he says that's what happened, that's what happened. I know he had the camera with him as it's a new toy and he takes it everywhere..

AS for the money, that wasn't Dave's idea at all. It was all of us at pokerknights.com who know Dave.
He had a game the other night and it was cut short when his son fell ill..
here is Dave's post about that
http://www.pokerknightsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5019
So all of his good friends felt that it would be appropriate to try and raise some money , in Dave's honor, to help find a cure for his son's condition. - xjake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5uh, looks like he has the windows rolled down to me.
- radcopter, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9comment abuse, but heres a link with the whole story told by the photgrapher.
