It irks me to no end, that as prevalent as the word "pedophile" is in the media - very few seem to actually know when the word applies. In this case, the man is not a pedophile, just a terribly stupid person. The laws are in place to protect children (yes a 15 year old counts) from adults who mislead them. The 15 year old in this case probably did know what she was getting and probably did know this was wrong, but maybe this sort of thing has been the norm for her family. The adults are the ones who are supposed to be helping her determine what is right and what is wrong. It's called parenting...and caring for your children.

I have to agree with you, in so far as she KNEW what she was doing. Come on, one the things she got was to sleep with HER own boyfriend! So she knew very well what she was doing. I can understand if she was much younger, but at 15 you know about sex and you know that when something is wrong or not. She is partly guilty for signing that contract when she knew it was illegal. Uh, how is this racism? They are talking about religion. Sure, they are overstating the facts and generalizing over the entire muslim population, but I would hardly call it racism. Turn your sensitivity meter down a bit.

It's weird..when a teen does something illegal with an adult, they get in trouble.
When a teen does something illegal that has to do with sex and an adult, they're automatically innocent.
A contract for sex is prostitution. A 15 year older knows what prostitution is. She should've refused, gone to the cops, etc. She took part in it. It's the "15 year olders are adults if they commit these crimes, punished as kids if they commit these crimes, and completely innocent if sex is involved" mindset is what keeps pedophilia so big in the US.
A teenager signs a prostitution contract, she's committing a crime.

- DonCarcharo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11I think there's some sort of roadmap for understanding this but minors, in most states, are almost always minors (incapable of being held responsible for their actions) if the case involves sex and the minor is a female. If the case involves two minors and sex, generally the male is an adult and the female is still a minor, though rarely they both can be minors and adults at the same time (in such a case where both participants are charged). Even more rare a female minor can be both a minor and an adult in some cases even if she's the only participant (taking pictures of her underage self). And in very, very special cases, even adult females can be considered to have the rights of a minor should the case involve sex, alcohol and bad judgement.
The shorter version is females shouldn't be held accountable for anything they do, especially if they are young, inebriated and it involves sex. If they're old, they're basically guilty. As for men, they should just know better. - zip000, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8@knde

The mother for being with the scumbag who wouldn't be understanding of something like surgery. The boyfriend for already looking for alternative access after the mothers surgery. The daughter for thinking she's some sort of prostitute.

I'm not 100% on US laws, but as of now, in Canada you can have sexual relations with a 14 year old (with consent obviously)
