My heart goes out to the guy. Truly tragic. - hyderalamgir, on 05/11/2009, -38/+162Accidentally the whole wife?
- Necronomicana, on 05/11/2009, -48/+145So this guy accidentally cuts his wife in the neck (beheads) with a chain saw. I've played enough DOOM over the years to know that you never accidentally kill anything with a chainsaw.
- pathouston22, on 05/11/2009, -4/+83I have a feeling thost most diggers have never touched a chain saw.
- hyderalamgir, on 05/11/2009, -8/+84coz in doom, you have to kill everything
- inactive, on 05/11/2009, -3/+76This is not something you psychologically spring back from with any alacrity.
- ha3er0, on 06/16/2009, -12/+84Whats with the ***** comments?
How is this funny? - gametavern, on 05/11/2009, -4/+72I love how if it's on the internet, it's ok to make fun of. Honestly, I couldn't imagine having accidentally killed my own wife. I couldn't live with that.
- noahgelman, on 05/11/2009, -4/+65Well- that was an article full of details and information now wasn't it?
- cc132, on 05/11/2009, -2/+60Reading this article out loud is the sound of my heart breaking.
Poor guy... - dirtymerkin, on 05/11/2009, -12/+58Diggers have no compassion. I wish the buzz on this would just die down.
- jazzfunkblues, on 05/11/2009, -1/+46...and buried for the incorrect use of the word world
- stevenr21, on 05/11/2009, -4/+48poor guy. seems like a genuine accident.. just not being safe. too bad.
- Pxtl, on 05/11/2009, -0/+40"ruined pants"....
I'd say that if a chainsaw kicked back hard enough that it would be damaging the limp cloth that wraps my otherwise-unprotected flesh, I'd have ruined my pants too. - asgardshill, on 05/11/2009, -2/+40Agreed - silly comments here. It's so easy for a chain saw to buck or jump, and if your helper is standing in just the wrong place, that's it.
- chuckduck, on 05/11/2009, -4/+41Seriously disappointed with the lack of compassion going on here. You sure as heck wouldn't be laughing if this was one of your family members.
- inactive, on 05/11/2009, -3/+39I can't imagine how this guy feels. According to various news sources she was the love of his life. The jokes above are in really poor taste.
- Spuy767, on 05/11/2009, -1/+36My mother cut the ***** out of her arm with a small electric chainsaw, my friend mike almost lost his hand when the chain flew off. CHainsaws are not to be ***** with, but I guess when your knowledge of a subject only extends as far as using one to kill zombies in a video game.
- inactive, on 05/11/2009, -7/+41This is not funny at all. Accident or not. You guys are absurd.
- jriggs, on 05/11/2009, -4/+38oh come on, cut that out!
- eanbowman, on 05/11/2009, -4/+37Funny comment, I guess.
They can kick back if you're not careful and the spinning chain can run into anything. I guess he wasn't really a careful person? I've never seen someone actually have it kick back on them. I've just been told that as part of how to handle one.
That really, really sucks for him. I can't imagine how that guy feels. :C - RTFMA, on 05/11/2009, -2/+35If we outlaw chainsaws, only outlaws will have chainsaws.
- chuckduck, on 05/11/2009, -0/+32Yeah, there's a time and a place folks. The worst part is that I knew going onto the comments section that there would be a bunch of idiots posting things like that too.
- WordsnCollision, on 05/11/2009, -47/+77I guess she just wood not listen.
- Nickdotnet, on 05/11/2009, -1/+30you've obviously never used a chainsaw then. They DO kickback, quite often actually. Most of the time you can handle it, but I've ruined pants and a good pair of steeltoes as a result of kickback. Seems like the only fault here is that they were working too close...
- ZincSaucier, on 05/11/2009, -1/+30even though the internet has desensitized me to the point where i laugh at the most horrid things, this is still a *****. i can't imagine what it must be like to be this guy right now.
- RealDealRick, on 05/11/2009, -0/+27Poor guy.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 05/11/2009, -5/+32What a buzzkill.
- LegomanArt, on 05/11/2009, -4/+29I don't think she saw that coming.
- slickwilly4u, on 05/11/2009, -3/+27yep, I've always feared chain saws. Not getting one...EVER!
- doctechnical, on 05/11/2009, -6/+30He definitely stumped his wife. Cut her? Damn near splinter!
- Frixionburne, on 05/11/2009, -1/+23dammit....
- daibar, on 05/11/2009, -7/+29That's no way to get ahead.
- onegoodsoul, on 05/11/2009, -4/+25The husband should be carefully watched to make sure the guilt doesn't overwhelm him to the point where he would want to take his own life.
- Leezus, on 05/11/2009, -6/+26she really ought to have understood her place in the chain of command
- Coffeedemon, on 05/11/2009, -0/+20Agree with the people who have actually used a chainsaw in real life. When I was working construction I always gave the guy with the chainsaw a wide berth. You never know when it will catch on something and kick.
- djnermal, on 05/11/2009, -8/+28Matt Stone and Trey Parker are comic heroes to me, this should give you an idea of the kind of dark comedy I like. Reading some of your comments shows how truly messed up this world is. This is terrible news, its obviously an accident. Just imagine what this guy know needs to go through for the rest of his life.
Shame on you diggers. - DankBuddz, on 05/11/2009, -1/+20He's mentally ***** for life.
- santiago1, on 05/11/2009, -2/+20 This is Digg... what the hell did you expect?
Welcome to the Internet's version of 4th grade. - doomedwer, on 05/11/2009, -16/+33If we had stricter chain saw control laws this never would have happened.
- SpruceCaboose, on 05/11/2009, -0/+17Dugg for making me look up a word that was in a real dictionary and not just in the Urban Dictionary.
- anexanhume, on 05/11/2009, -1/+18Here's a story with a little more info:
http://www.woodtv.com/dpp/news/local/gun_lake_regi ... - kelmaster1, on 05/11/2009, -0/+16man, chainsaws a flat out dangerous, people don't give them enough respect. Whenever I'm using one I'm extremely careful... A kickback and a cut on the inner thigh and it's game over (pun not intended lol). I honestly don't know the circumstances but it wasn't very wise of her to be that close to someone else operating a chainsaw.
- charm803, on 05/11/2009, -5/+21I'm going to go to hell for digging up all the puns.
- Frixionburne, on 05/11/2009, -4/+20dugg for correct use of the world alacrity.
- Wiini, on 05/11/2009, -7/+23This is exactly why we need more chainsaw control in the United States. Such a tragic, senseless death that could've been prevented.
- kelmaster1, on 05/11/2009, -1/+16I would agree, what was she doing that close to a guy operating a chainsaw? Also, it sounds like they were cutting limbs off the tree. I HATE using a chainsaw at eye level, I'm experienced but it still scares me. I had it kick back towards my face a few times, not a very comforting feeling. Sometimes depending on what your cutting it's almost inevitable.
BTW you are pretty damn lucky to have ruined pants from a chainsaw and not be dead. I've 'used' a pair of chainsaw chaps though, if I didn't have those on I'd probably be dead. People don't respect the killing power of this machine, they're incredibly dangerous. - shauntacular, on 05/11/2009, -2/+16They're kinda forcing us to make up our own story of how that went down. I thought there would be some mention of a zombie or two.
- TheStrangeBrew, on 05/11/2009, -0/+14Working on a fireline, we're always told to watch our dime, especially if there's a saw up front. It's just common sense that if someone's operating something that can slice up a freakin tree, you might want to stay clear. And they DO kick back pretty regularly.
It's definitely a terrible accident though and I feel bad for the guy. - drunkirish, on 05/11/2009, -4/+17Don't get ahead of yourself. Sticking your neck out like that while the buzz is on will get you buried quick.
