- dukeeeey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4America has the highest prison population (per person) out of any country in the world. The number of people locked up has doubled or so in the last 5 years. Is America really a nation of criminals, or is the justice system totally failing ?
- marketnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I totally agree...we have too many criminals locked up in the system to be adding people to "the system" because they're smoking in a bar.
- CaptainNoPants, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The justice system has been slowly crumbling since the 80's. Slowly but steadily.
- Jonjonr6, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Let's not confuse the subject. He got a ticket for smoking.
He got thrown in jail for not paying his fine or appearing in court. That's the standard proceedure for ANY ticket, including jay-walking. - amat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i hate that
- marketnet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What is this world coming to where you'll go to jail because you were smoking in a bar?
- tonicboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1You mean, what is the world coming to when you go to jail for breaking the law? Anyway, they're just making an example of him; they have a new law and they want people to know that they're serious about it. I doubt it will become SOP to arrest everyone who doesn't pay this ticket - they'll probably just add a fee like a speding ticket.
