- corywingerter, on 10/12/2007, -11/+522It's a picture of the internet.
- Salviati, on 10/12/2007, -4/+224Explanation, please. Was that an Alaskan Internet switchyard, or a Windows screensaver brought to life?
- ohhhL3ThaL, on 10/12/2007, -5/+55Our Internet is rusting; I change my internet's oil every 13,000 packets to avoid problems like this one.
- Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -6/+54That's like the back of my desk!
o_O - whiskeymb, on 10/12/2007, -13/+59Ted Stevens, here is your solution.
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+41*additional clever reference to tubes and how they are the internet*
- breezy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+37Looks like here's the collection:

http://uneasysilence.com/archive/2006/11/8343/ - steger, on 10/12/2007, -9/+41looks like a dump truck tried to go through it.
- DDoSAttack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33Looks like a destroyed powerplant to me
(I worked with them for years)
Edit:: Just saw breezy's post and according to the person's description that is in fact what it is. - Skullpop, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30No wonder I can't download more than 2 internets at a time.. Look how blocked the tubes are!
- stevetures, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26don't you mean a picture of the Internets?
I sent you more information over the internets, but its so gosh darn slow. Expect my information in the pipe by 10am tomorrow. - spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23How exactly would you research this? It comes with no information
Type 'big pipey thing' into google? - manic007, on 10/12/2007, -10/+28This must be the heart of the internet
- Alegis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I kept looking for 2 minutes while humming Super Marios theme.
- GosuPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15It's the new 3D Pipes screensaver for vista
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16It's real... it's an old generating station outside of toronto.. would you idiots learn how to research before you call something fake?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearn_Generating_Station - Supernova36, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14*Generic internet tube joke*
- Snowcone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Whatever it is, it rocks.
- GuyHitByTruck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14You wouldn't want to trip and fall in a place like that. You're likely to be impaled!
- CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16No, no, no, this is the center of all of Blizzard's WoW servers.
- cman2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9not true, it is real. the "artist" is a photographer, who happens to (digitally) add his name to all of his photos. there are many photos of this place, and its HDR photography so it has a bit of a surreal feel to it, but it is photography, and it is a real place.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12so that's where ted steven's file got stuck when he tried to send it through internets
- Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9My God.
It's full of......pipes. - retral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7There was a comment posted near the top that clearly points this out as the Hearn.. and links to flickr galleries which contain many similar photos and the one exact photo... but other than that you do have a point (for the record: the post by blitz was made after the Hearn comment was posted).
- edzieba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I still can't find the teapot.
- ToxicBomber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6http://thetubesaredown.ytmnd.com
- JasonHilton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Well there's your problem!
- elef, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7a glimps into the nightmares of Mario.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6There's a couple of structures like these in Tempe, AZ, for anyone in the area. Just drive down McClintock past Rio Salado Drive, and look toward the west. There's a whole field of solar generators and a crazy steam-punk inspired couple of towers. The place is called Ocotillo Power Plant.
- ApolloImBurning, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Reminds me of an Aqua Teen Episode:
Shake: I will need one of those amazing... space age... tubes.
Frylock: What... a pipe?
Shake: Yeah, that! - Chinzon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Man, the Borg have really let themselves go these days.....
- JonnyTrombone, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10That's what p2p file sharing does.
- Bamborzled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"note the artists name on the silver pipe on the left side of the picture"
That's just a very ingenious way of adding a watermark to your photos. - deftech, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9dam I thought it was gonna be a picture of lindsay lohan and her entourage.
- TheZetetic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I don't see Waldo anywhere.
- jknevitt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5*gets himself a new wallpaper*
- elpayo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5As Senator Stevens warned us, this is what happens when you just dump something on the internets.
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5*semi-witty meta-comment*
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Every 13k packets? That's a lot of oil changes.
- diktator279, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You're right, its a conspiracy, the image is fake.
Those pipes killed jfk... and cause male patern baldness. - rgodfrey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Here's the actual Flickr page for this image, which gives slightly more context:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/21815268@N00/123158595/ - elef, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5*shakes fist @ Alegis for for beating him to the mario reference*
- mortigon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Looks real to me. If it's not real then that's incredible artwork, look at the reflection on the puddle.
This is incredible.... it's just a huge mess of pipes and debris but it looks like art :P - onboleman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6After much deliberation, I have decided that this is a picture of ARPAnet.
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Pipe Dream!
- nextbigthang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Great photo! Set as background = TRUE
- muvment256, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I havn't seen so many pipes layed since Mark Foley
- Shredderx1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So thats why Sen. Stevens couldn't get his internet delivered on time
- rwstevenson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Terry Gilliam's vision of what the future will be like. I'm referring to his movie, "Brazil" if you haven't seen it. Great photo.
