- rjc5056, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4He was actually the former North American Marketing Executive for Nike and he was just realizing then how horribly this ad would fare.
- drewdown112, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4Awww...*****! I mean Swoosh!
- badwithcomputer, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3a good viral *doesn't* say that it's advertising a product. it's supposed to be subtle. i think the point is that when he gets his nike in *****...and notice how well the logo is showing...he starts crying ridiculously.
the crying ridiculously is supposed to be the funny hook that draws you in after the setup makes you think this is real (which it doesn't really feel to real to me) but all of that is supposed to make you forget you just saw a man cry because he ruined his nikes. hence the ad. viral marketing 101, brodeo. - SeaweedWater, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3Digg, this is why I love you, but I'm not in love with you.
- inactive, on 06/26/2008, -1/+4I'm Henry the 8th I am
- rossmcd, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2that was awful. the whole time i was hoping he'd beat the crap out of those kids
- dleesgeetar, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2dude sucks at crying
- inactive, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2thats *****
- jaybol, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2"don't try to put it out with yer boots again"
- Omek, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2I think it would be more of a smear than a swoosh...
- GoKings, on 06/26/2008, -1/+3Two things:
1- It never ever seemed like it was done by amateurs. It had a Cloverfield type thing going on.
2- It wasn't even funny. I'm guessing that guy was wearing Nikes?
So yes, it was both the *****, and ***** viral ad ever. - inactive, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2drop it like it's hot
- inactive, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2i was hoping he'd throw it at them unexpectedly
- psg188, on 06/26/2008, -2/+3"All I want for Christmas is a psp."
I'll never forget the level of face palm that induced.
To anyone who has forgotten, or was lucky enough to miss it completely:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0G0LlXv-nyI - badwithcomputer, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2Sony got burned big time for that. All online marketing companies had to become "WOMA Compliant" (Word Of Mouth Marketing Association) which basically meant you had to be totally transparent about the fact that your viral ad was an ad. It's kind of a bummer since I do enjoy a good viral ad and no corporation will sign up with any kind of firm that isn't WOMA compliant.
- nelsonjs, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1More importantly, have they created the ***** shoes ever?
- iancorey, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Sometime sucking gets you noticed. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0

- blowedupt, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Michael Jordan/Feces. What a difference twenty years makes
- iancorey, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1It should have gone like this: dude is about to step on it, but then notices his sporty kicks, removes them and stamps on the fire with his stocking feet (his shoes mean that much).
- Lutremi, on 06/26/2008, -3/+3Oh digg, you so silly
- WallnutBoy, on 06/26/2008, -4/+4here is OVER NINE THOUSAND
- NathanJr, on 06/26/2008, -0/+0"Nice." Nice.
- drewie123, on 06/26/2008, -2/+1It doesn't have to be subtle to qualify as a good viral, "brodeo". it's about the actual content not how the product or the brand is featured in it. subsequently, will I pass this on? no. = fail.
- Darren07, on 06/26/2008, -3/+2certainly smart enough to fool Digg users to promote it to the front page
- drewie123, on 06/26/2008, -5/+1nike? where does it say that this is a viral for nike?
if it was, what the ***** does anything in this clip have to do with nike products or the their brand? - crxvfr, on 06/26/2008, -10/+2lame. 75 diggs and no comments
