- BillyB, on 12/01/2008, -0/+59YES! I just read about this last night but it's raining here. Great shot!!!

A new ASCII Art Challenger has arrived! - chewbacca77, on 12/01/2008, -2/+41Probably. There's a rare conjunction going on right now with the Moon, Jupiter and Venus. It should look something like that.

Better picture - Gizza, on 12/02/2008, -0/+34This is what it looked liked from Australia last night.
- UnterDenLinden, on 12/02/2008, -0/+32I managed to get a picture tonight. If you look at Jupiter, it's planet on the right, you can see two moons, Io above and Castillo below. At least, that's what I could figure out. Very cool to me at least. http://i37.tinypic.com/348h9it.jpg (Don't forget to click to zoom in!)

- aherman, on 12/02/2008, -1/+31Wooooosh.
- lorem1000, on 12/01/2008, -0/+28Those are Jupiter and Venus, actually.
The moon should be the brightest otherwise. ;) - 8BitGaming, on 12/02/2008, -0/+22๏̯͡๏
- adrenalmedulla9, on 12/02/2008, -0/+22That would be creepy if the sky formed that face.
- Murdats, on 12/02/2008, -0/+20I saw that myself last night (with a different orientation) before the sun went down, I wish I had a camera good enough to capture it.
i nice blue sky with nothing but these two stars and the moon in it, it was quite beautiful. - inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+21looks like real, I heard the news of this incident to happen in the sky in newspapers. Its really rare. I missed it :(
- LucasVB, on 12/02/2008, -0/+19Nah, the Moon is just bipolar. I'm pretty sure.
- MCJackhammer, on 12/02/2008, -1/+20Here's mine:

- pixelguru, on 12/02/2008, -0/+15Not only was the moon making a frowny-face tonight, but minutes after I saw it between the brooding clouds, there was a full-on sleet storm raining chunks of pea to marble size ice. Mother nature is pissed, and I'll be hiding in my basement until the sun comes back up.

- emkaysmith, on 12/02/2008, -0/+15Yep, it's real. My wife is a serious amateur astronomer (12" Schmidt-Cassegrain & a big new CCD) and we live on a golf course with wide-open horizons, so she's been sleeping in the daytime the last few days and spending the nights out on the patio with her astro-toys and her laptop and a thermos of hot tea. Clear skies and temps in the 60s at night just now, so she's getting lots of good shots. That's what I get for marrying a mathematician with a grad degree in physics. . . .
