- Price, on 05/07/2009, -6/+13My favourite part... She just has to bring in God... "Joni Bates was able to get out of the one story concrete block structure safely with her puppies. She says insurance should cover the damage. "They just renewed it, believe it or not. So, even though I had a sinkhole, I'm very, very fortunate and I thank God," she said."
So basically she's saying: "Thank you God for having my insurance being able to pay for the house you just destroyed, you are so merciful and kind! I know you were just playing around." - carlosos, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6Sinkholes are pretty normal. There isn't any year where not at least something disappears due to it.
- mikemehak, on 05/07/2009, -0/+5I was hoping it would be bigger and the entire house would be gone. But I guess that would be more of a black hole than a sink hole.
- liuite, on 05/07/2009, -0/+3in the Yucatan there are plenty of sinkholes; they call them cenotes. underground aquifiers are just like streams and rivers.
- videodroner, on 05/07/2009, -0/+3Tornadoes in the midwest, earthquakes out west, blizzards up north. Every part of the U.S. (and the entire World) has something different to deal with.
- pinchduck, on 05/07/2009, -0/+3Now we know where the langoliers hang out.
- Neolite, on 05/08/2009, -1/+3Reminds me of this 330ft sinkhole in Guatemala.

- Hurricane, on 05/08/2009, -0/+2Having grown up in SW Florida I can tell you that this is not that unusual, we once had a sinkhole try to take a traffic light, a Dairy Queen and half a mobile home park down into its dark maw.
- cerejota, on 05/08/2009, -0/+2Dugg for being the best comment here.
- allyclark, on 05/08/2009, -0/+1I expected the same thing. But you have to admit...that picture is insane!!!
- asgardshill, on 05/08/2009, -0/+1That'll buff right out.
- cerejota, on 05/08/2009, -0/+1Well, they are pretty common, but definitely not normal. Their cause is due to stupid construction practices and general lack of environmental stewardship. People overuse aquifers and build on drained swamps, a recipe for disaster.
- asgardshill, on 05/08/2009, -0/+1Maybe, if they're including contents. My homeowner's policy covers half again the value of the house in contents.
- fakeXsound, on 05/07/2009, -1/+2Thought that said "skinhole" for a second...
- cerejota, on 05/08/2009, -0/+1And you are such a sensitive fellow. I am willing to bet that you self-righteousness is inversely proportional to your actual capacity for humanity.
- inactive, on 05/07/2009, -2/+2God never destroyed the house? Tell me how he did that? Was it God pumping millions of ground water out for profit? Another digg atheits troll
- Moralogic, on 05/07/2009, -1/+1Watch for when it tries to spit.
- Ghostalker, on 05/07/2009, -3/+3You'd think people in Florida would get the message already and gtfo.
Hurricanes, alligators, insane bugs....etc etc etc - robbob, on 05/07/2009, -2/+2That's what happens when you build on top of Marilyn Chamber's grave
- nesagwa, on 05/07/2009, -1/+1And yet we still let these companies pump billions of gallons of water out of our aquifer for export causing sinkholes and well deterioration.
Do something about this Crist! - cerejota, on 05/08/2009, -1/+1Dugg down as repeat comment.
- TheLeffer, on 09/30/2009, -0/+0Glad I don't like in Florida! http://www.cheaplinksys.com
- ThantiK, on 05/07/2009, -2/+2This house is in Florida - No way in hell it's worth 250k - It's probably only worth 90k at best.
- fragmit, on 05/08/2009, -3/+2..are you really so lacking in self that you have to mock the woman who just had a traumatic experience by poking fun at her faith? You're a big man.
- pinchduck, on 05/07/2009, -2/+1I'm guessing that anyone would prefer that to the alternative: A structurally sound home but being dead. I would definitely check that box. How about you?
- danielsan4610, on 05/07/2009, -3/+2Joni Bates was able to get out of the one story concrete block structure safely with her puppies. She says insurance should cover the damage. Yes, thank you God. You destroyed my home but I'm safe! - tking2724, on 05/08/2009, -2/+0I'm from Florida and I wholeheartedly agree.
- punko79, on 05/07/2009, -7/+3Holy crap, that is nuts. haha, swallows.
- anexanhume, on 05/07/2009, -9/+5More evidence Florida sucks.
