Embarrassing U.S. Border Patrol Traffic Stop watch!

- pingster, on 05/18/2008, -20/+5That right there is the ***** reason I drive down into town and see dozens of spicks running around. That right there is the ***** reason why more than half of my highschool is full of illegal immigrants and why a ***** mexican won prom queen. ***** Mexicans. I don't even live in an urban area.
- hoghug, on 05/18/2008, -3/+4Wow, how racist do you have to be to get upset about the race of your prom queen? Or maybe you're just jealous. Do tiaras come in size "douchebag"?

- noprtyaff, on 05/18/2008, -9/+0That's pretty much the mentality of most diggers: sit back laugh at the invasion of the U.S and then elect one of the remaining three utterly terrible candidates for U.S president who will then perpetuate the invasion ( rampant immigration both illegal and LEGAL ) of their own nation.
- WoollyMittens, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1By now, you have to be about suicidal to want to immigrate to your corporate-theocracy.

- BloodWenis, on 05/18/2008, -5/+12The do have more authority than say the 'minuteman' volunteers, but they certainly are not on par with even the lowest of the police.
Remember the agents that were arrested for defending themselves?
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTI ...
Or the fact the Mexican government formally asked the patrol to stop defending themselves?
http://americanshooter.wordpress.com/2008/02/05/me ...- smotpoker, on 05/18/2008, -8/+9Those border guards weren't "defending themselves". That was the biggest crock of ***** story ever.
"Hmm... my partner might be shot and rather than try to help him or call it in, I will just 'defend' us from the guy RUNNING AWAY"
Trying to murder the bad guy who is *running away* is not "defense" by any stretch of the imagination. Their entire story was concocted after the fact. If I was the Mexican government, I would be trying to disarm those ***** murdering/abusing rapists myself.
And for the record, it's ***** awesome they aren't on par with police because even ***** police shouldn't be on par with police. They are worse than border guards- SpaceRibs, on 05/18/2008, -1/+2very succinct, very well put.
- Suspected, on 05/18/2008, -0/+2I read the first link, and the border agent shot the suspect in the butt. I'm not really sure how he managed to "defend " himself by shooting someone that wasn't even facing him.

http://digg.com/comedy/Bailout_Very_Funny_Police_S ...- badwithcomputer, on 05/18/2008, -1/+10 I assure you, I didn't see it 5 days ago. I just found this browsing recently uploaded on Funny or Die. I didn't steal this story, but even if I did (and I really didn't) it's not something you can let bother you too much on social news sites especially if there's a few days between submissions. It happens to all of us mostly because the same content gets posted to a ton of different places in hopes one of them will surface on a site like Digg.
- PyroRaver, on 05/18/2008, -2/+1I'm not making a big deal out of it, but something must be wrong with the dupe system if the same exact story gets through. I didn't mean to sound aggressive, so sorry about that.
- badwithcomputer, on 05/18/2008, -0/+3Don't worry about it, you didn't sound aggressive just a little irritated and I can understand the frustration. I did see this same video in dupe check and it wasn't even your submission, it was something over a week old. It also only had a handful of diggs and definitely wasn't about to miraculously surface on its own momentum. Usually submissions have about 24 hours to break in upcoming and that's it. It's hard to remember since Digg does such a great job of keeping track of submission success, but it really is about the content at the end of the day and you can't let the e-ego get in the way. I've learned that lesson more than once when stuff I submit gets buried in upcoming only to be re-submitted by someone who noticed it climbing and go front page the next day. It's just the way things be.
- PyroRaver, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1yeah, I guess I just gotta keep submitting :P

- EdNonymous, on 05/18/2008, -3/+2As a proud native born american sick of all the latent racism and ignorance on this message board let me just say this: Who needs to dream? Aztlan has been reclaimed in Southern California. The U.S. Government pushed the native born Mexicans south with guns and violence; so they utilized the tools of capitalism to reclaim SoCal through the almighty dollar. According to Arbitron, the radio stations with the highest ad revenue and largest market share are spanish language. In regards to television, Nielson's numbers parallel the findings of Arbitron. Chicanos are not going anywhere, deal with it.

Espere nos.- nycmac247, on 05/18/2008, -0/+3LOL I have spent plenty of time in Mexico City and some time in LA.
Now that LA is starting to seriously look like Mexico City...ahhh... you're bragging about it?
Even if bilingualism is fully instituted and the school system is able to -- somehow, magically -- take care and teach all the kids you're going to have no carrying capacity with a constant addition to the population and an infrastructure that can't keep up.
But keep bragging about how the "reclaiming" is going; the rest of the world will look on in wonder as you keep concentrating population and driving the standard of living down for everyone - including yourselves...
Kind of like those 13 guys in the van in the recent front page video - but all of California. Ueah, that's the type of place I'd be proud of, too.
/sarc.- EdNonymous, on 05/19/2008, -0/+1Los Angeles will never be Mexico city; the U.S. Fed Gov will see to that. Besides, that's not what emigrees want. Promoting Los Angeles as a diverse Metropolis and America's gateway to Latin America seems to be the most logical progression here. Much like New York City serves as Europe's gateway to the New World, Los Angeles can become the next step in creating a global network that links the developing nations of the South (which have vast amounts of resources but limited infrastructure) with industrialized nations seeking to create mutually beneficial agreements. I'm no NAFTA drone, in fact my Fathers job was recently sent to Guatemala 2 years before he retired; but I understand that a global shift in the way we do business is inevitable. For the sake of our economy we cannot continue to pursue the isolationists standpoint originally proposed by George Washington in his Presidency's Farewell address.
I also don't mind a demographic shift, specifically when that shift promotes diversity within a community and an economy as financially striated as California's (where the divide of wealth is VERY evident). I don't see anybody knocking Boston for being too Irish or San Francisco for being too Chinese, in fact the waves of immigrants into New York city are the cornerstone of it's success (ever wonder why your broker tells you to diversify? Well, at least mine does). The Native Americans hated the Dutch, the Dutch hated the Irish, etc...where the hell did that get us? While I can understand that it is easier to recoil from and reject the traditions of foreign cultures, it is more important and exponentially more difficult to seek to understand how cultural behavior informs our choices and actions if we are to ever dip our heads out of this recession.
This all boils down to the simple rules of supply and demand inherent in capitalism.
There is a high demand for cheap labor in the U.S., and many immigrants see it as an opportunity to get their foot in the door to a better life if not for them, for their children.
In fact, the Iberian peninsulas' proximity to Morocco has created a similar climate in Spain, where tensions between the two cultures have flared for centuries. While the two situations may be different in regards to reasons for emigrating, the Iberian region has managed to celebrate this diversity and reap the benefits.
Ignorance has created a culture of FEAR in America that has everybody running scared of each other instead of seeking to create an open dialog to solve our nations problems. Once this nation learns to reconcile those irrational fears we can all get back to the task of making this the greatest nation in the world.

carting lunch pails and all, here in northern CA it's a very very common thing to see

- CrashRhinoceros, on 05/18/2008, -71/+82I don't know why anyone would find this funny. As a California native I have watched our state be overrun by illegal immigrants (both Hispanic and Asian) and it has positively ruined our state. More than a few hospitals in the Southern California area have closed in recent years as a result of too many illegal immigrants requiring services which are not reimbursed from the government. Please people: get it together and understand this is a real problem.

- Lazydriver, on 05/18/2008, -16/+23Ruined your state? Uh, it's not the Mexicans, it's the poverty, and because it's extremely hard to get background checks done in a timely matter (eg, in a year or less), they're illegal and have to settle for the low-wage jobs.
So really, it's not the Mexicans, it's just the people stuck in poverty. Help your Mexican friends improve their lives, illegal or not, because, really, what kind of Mexican would want to be illegal other then to feed his family?
Remember: it's not the Mexicans that are taking your jobs, it's the corporations that send em overseas for cheap/slave-labor. Like, 20 cents an hour.- one2gamble, on 05/18/2008, -6/+2they wouldnt be stuck in crappy low paying jobs, which in turn are driving down wages in those industries if they werent illegal.
Mexicans should concentrate on improving their country, and immigrate here legally if they so choose. - ouzome, on 05/18/2008, -7/+2That is the worst rationalization I have ever heard. It is the illegal immigrants taking jobs that LEGAL citizens DO WANT TO DO and HAVE DONE prior to them stealing their job.

- Tyr7BE, on 05/18/2008, -9/+2Isn't health care private in the US? Ie, you need insurance to go to a hospital, and the insurance companies pay, NOT the government?
- centerblack, on 05/18/2008, -2/+11If you go to the emergency room, they're required to provide some emergency care (they're not gonna just let you die) but then they'll bill you for it.
If you can't pay, you're undocumented, and you just disappear? The hospital has to eat that cost. MediCal also pays for some stuff regardless of your legal status...
So yea, we pay for it. Personally I don't really have a problem with it. If I saw some guy get hit by a car on the street would I ask him about the status of his citizenship and insurance situation before I called 911? No.
All of the people bitching about it should try and solve the real question, which is:
How do we assimilate these people into the system and get them to invest in health insurance?- afruff23, on 05/18/2008, -3/+1There is no way to fix the problem other than to get rid of the law mandating treatment for the ER. As soon as that happens, hospitals would create a system to determine if you can pay when you enter the ER. Microchip under the skin, ID cards, etc. Then you would see tons more hospitals open up in heavily populated SoCal.
The alternative to this is to eventually have no health care or ridiculously overpriced healthcare (to cover the costs of people who can't pay) in SoCal. - centerblack, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Maybe we should just work something out so that they can get health insurance that we will recognize in the states. If they come into the hospital w/ insurance you treat them and let them go. If they come in without insurance, you treat them and then deport them.
Most will opt to get health insurance imo.

- gmiller, on 05/18/2008, -0/+10Hospitals are required to provide emergency care regardless of the patient's ability to pay.
- Coolmatt49, on 05/18/2008, -0/+2Hospitals are required by law to give ANYONE treatment regardless of citizenship, financial status, and/or whether you have insurance or not. If a hospital does refuse a patient, regardless if the person lives or not, the hospital gets into a huge mess of trouble.
I'm not even sure if the government pays for any of the medical coverage if a person is unable to pay. A person would need government-issued insurance (i.e. Medi-Cal for those who live in California).
(I might add that Medi-Cal sucks if you are the one trying to get payment from them.)
- centerblack, on 05/18/2008, -2/+11If you go to the emergency room, they're required to provide some emergency care (they're not gonna just let you die) but then they'll bill you for it.
- SpectreFire, on 05/18/2008, -4/+9You must just be smashing at parties.
- Anditsonfire, on 05/18/2008, -2/+3Sounds like it's the government's fault for not reimbursing the health care (I'm guessing the hospital must legally help the migrants).
- proliance, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1They government doesn't have any money, they just take it from us in the form of income taxes.
Illegal immigrants would be in the group that doesn't pay income taxes.

- tcpip4lyfe, on 05/18/2008, -1/+5That pretty much sums it up. It's ***** up but it's better then the alternatives.
- afruff23, on 05/18/2008, -2/+3How is a law mandating treatment of ER patients capitalism? Capitalism requires mutual consent to a trade and such a law is obviously not to the benefit of the hospitals which close down every day. This is not capitalism but the tragedy of the commons (socialism).
- roboticrickshaw, on 05/18/2008, -2/+3yeah ***** free riding illegals they should be left to die in the streets /sarcasm
- BN2L, on 05/18/2008, -2/+2The reason they're there in the first place...capitalism.
- BN2L, on 05/18/2008, -2/+2Treatment of ER patients is a tragedy? Hospitals are closing down partly due to the fact you don't have a socialist health care system e.g. UK, France.
- afruff23, on 05/18/2008, -1/+1@BN2L
England is having the same problems of insolvency as the US as their unpaying immigrant population rises. And "tragedy of the commons" is a name of a problem. It's not my opinion that this is a "tragedy of the commons" but a fact.
Since you clearly have not thought out your solution, I would refrain from the insults. Note: I don't have anything against immigrants of any status, but I do have something against the laws which make it impossible to cope with immigration like mandated ER service.
- mike17032, on 05/18/2008, -3/+6If your state would stop pandering to them, it wouldnt be as big of a problem.

- monroylobo, on 05/18/2008, -2/+6People don't have to use the word "race" for the comment to be racist or nationalist. Racist probably doesn't apply because there is no Mexican race, it is a nationality; they like myself, are mestizo.

No, its common ***** sense. I know thats somewhere rare here on digg, but its pretty ***** obvious what is going on here. - eslaonda, on 05/18/2008, -1/+2what if they were guatemalan or salvadorean or bolvivian or from any other country in America that exists south of "america"? I cant believe how people are oblivious to the racism and ignorance involved in so many of these comments. I dont blame you, but its sad. As a mexican, I find comments like "they allways have that many people packed in one car" pretty offensive, and the equivalent of saying "africans like watermellons". Yet a bunch of people here see them as something normal, only because intolerance and stereotyping towards southamericans seems to be justified by their diplomatic status. My impression is that people sometimes think: "if they are illegal, then we can be racist towards them and it doesnt matter. we can make fun of them and it doesnt matter, because they do not have papers". This is *****. and sorry if i made mistakes while typing this but english is not my first language.

- morgino, on 05/18/2008, -19/+5Since 20% of all illegals are criminals (and this is documented) I don't see the humor in this. Hopefully they threw the tazer smackdown on them. I live in San Diego and crime is plummeting since they started locking up the borders
- mijelh, on 05/18/2008, -1/+5[citation needed]
- zbor, on 05/18/2008, -1/+3And that documentation would be...?
- Lazydriver, on 05/18/2008, -3/+5Agreed, there's no proof behind Morgino's argument.
However, I will happily let you know that underneath our legal system, 100% of illegals are considered criminals.
However: in reality, if you were an illegal immigration working your ass off for your family, would you REALLY go out of your way to get deported? Logic and common sense tell us that illegal immigrants are LESS LIKELY then normal everyday citizens to commit crimes, because they want to lay low and not get deported.
Doesn't that make more sense?
-Yours truly,
A Mayflower Descender. - centerblack, on 05/18/2008, -2/+6I think you'll find that crime rate is mostly governed by wealth (or lack thereof). Pretty much every other relationship that people claim is *****. That includes your race, the status of your citizenship, age, etc. eg: I could give you a statistic about how 20% of men with a size 11 shoe are criminals. It doesn't mean the two are actually related.
(Oh it's documented, believe me /sarcasm)
Wealthy people commit crimes as well, but they're generally a different kind (crimes of passion, financial). Very few CEO's worth millions of dollars are holding up banks, doing drive by shootings, participating in gang wars or mugging people on the street.
Invest in education, eliminate poverty and you will see the crime rate decline sharply.
And echoing what others have already asked, if you're going to claim that something is documented, you must link to that documentation. Otherwise you're full of *****.
