I didn't steal this story, but even if I did (and I really didn't) it's not something you can let bother you too much on social news sites especially if there's a few days between submissions. It happens to all of us mostly because the same content gets posted to a ton of different places in hopes one of them will surface on a site like Digg.

I did see this same video in dupe check and it wasn't even your submission, it was something over a week old. It also only had a handful of diggs and definitely wasn't about to miraculously surface on its own momentum. Usually submissions have about 24 hours to break in upcoming and that's it. It's hard to remember since Digg does such a great job of keeping track of submission success, but it really is about the content at the end of the day and you can't let the e-ego get in the way. I've learned that lesson more than once when stuff I submit gets buried in upcoming only to be re-submitted by someone who noticed it climbing and go front page the next day. It's just the way things be.

        Now that LA is starting to seriously look like Mexico City...ahhh... you're bragging about it?
        Even if bilingualism is fully instituted and the school system is able to -- somehow, magically -- take care and teach all the kids you're going to have no carrying capacity with a constant addition to the population and an infrastructure that can't keep up.
        But keep bragging about how the "reclaiming" is going; the rest of the world will look on in wonder as you keep concentrating population and driving the standard of living down for everyone - including yourselves...
        Kind of like those 13 guys in the van in the recent front page video - but all of California. Ueah, that's the type of place I'd be proud of, too.

Promoting Los Angeles as a diverse Metropolis and America's gateway to Latin America seems to be the most logical progression here. Much like New York City serves as Europe's gateway to the New World, Los Angeles can become the next step in creating a global network that links the developing nations of the South (which have vast amounts of resources but limited infrastructure) with industrialized nations seeking to create mutually beneficial agreements. I'm no NAFTA drone, in fact my Fathers job was recently sent to Guatemala 2 years before he retired; but I understand that a global shift in the way we do business is inevitable. For the sake of our economy we cannot continue to pursue the isolationists standpoint originally proposed by George Washington in his Presidency's Farewell address.

          I also don't mind a demographic shift, specifically when that shift promotes diversity within a community and an economy as financially striated as California's (where the divide of wealth is VERY evident). I don't see anybody knocking Boston for being too Irish or San Francisco for being too Chinese, in fact the waves of immigrants into New York city are the cornerstone of it's success (ever wonder why your broker tells you to diversify? Well, at least mine does). The Native Americans hated the Dutch, the Dutch hated the Irish, etc...where the hell did that get us? While I can understand that it is easier to recoil from and reject the traditions of foreign cultures, it is more important and exponentially more difficult to seek to understand how cultural behavior informs our choices and actions if we are to ever dip our heads out of this recession.

          This all boils down to the simple rules of supply and demand inherent in capitalism.
          There is a high demand for cheap labor in the U.S., and many immigrants see it as an opportunity to get their foot in the door to a better life if not for them, for their children.
          In fact, the Iberian peninsulas' proximity to Morocco has created a similar climate in Spain, where tensions between the two cultures have flared for centuries. While the two situations may be different in regards to reasons for emigrating, the Iberian region has managed to celebrate this diversity and reap the benefits.

          Ignorance has created a culture of FEAR in America that has everybody running scared of each other instead of seeking to create an open dialog to solve our nations problems. Once this nation learns to reconcile those irrational fears we can all get back to the task of making this the greatest nation in the world.

        If you can't pay, you're undocumented, and you just disappear? The hospital has to eat that cost. MediCal also pays for some stuff regardless of your legal status...

        So yea, we pay for it. Personally I don't really have a problem with it. If I saw some guy get hit by a car on the street would I ask him about the status of his citizenship and insurance situation before I called 911? No.

        All of the people bitching about it should try and solve the real question, which is:
        How do we assimilate these people into the system and get them to invest in health insurance?

As soon as that happens, hospitals would create a system to determine if you can pay when you enter the ER. Microchip under the skin, ID cards, etc. Then you would see tons more hospitals open up in heavily populated SoCal.

          The alternative to this is to eventually have no health care or ridiculously overpriced healthcare (to cover the costs of people who can't pay) in SoCal.

If they come into the hospital w/ insurance you treat them and let them go. If they come in without insurance, you treat them and then deport them.

If a hospital does refuse a patient, regardless if the person lives or not, the hospital gets into a huge mess of trouble.

        I'm not even sure if the government pays for any of the medical coverage if a person is unable to pay. A person would need government-issued insurance (i.e. Medi-Cal for those who live in California).

        (I might add that Medi-Cal sucks if you are the one trying to get payment from them.)

      However, I will happily let you know that underneath our legal system, 100% of illegals are considered criminals.

      However: in reality, if you were an illegal immigration working your ass off for your family, would you REALLY go out of your way to get deported? Logic and common sense tell us that illegal immigrants are LESS LIKELY then normal everyday citizens to commit crimes, because they want to lay low and not get deported.

      Doesn't that make more sense?

That includes your race, the status of your citizenship, age, etc. eg: I could give you a statistic about how 20% of men with a size 11 shoe are criminals. It doesn't mean the two are actually related.

      (Oh it's documented, believe me /sarcasm)

      Wealthy people commit crimes as well, but they're generally a different kind (crimes of passion, financial). Very few CEO's worth millions of dollars are holding up banks, doing drive by shootings, participating in gang wars or mugging people on the street.

      Invest in education, eliminate poverty and you will see the crime rate decline sharply.

      And echoing what others have already asked, if you're going to claim that something is documented, you must link to that documentation. Otherwise you're full of *****.
