- one90proof, on 01/27/2008, -11/+471Could you find a more insensitive person? Regardless of who was at fault I just could not imagine trying to recoup damages from the parents of a kid I killed with my car. Unreal.
- scsp85, on 01/27/2008, -9/+407100mph, in a 55mph zone, and the cops claimed it was the kid's fault too? WTF
- oreonblade, on 01/27/2008, -6/+354Mom - "Before the lawsuit we thought the poor guy would find it hard to live the rest of his life with the thought of having caused our son's death."
***** - "It's the only way I have to claim my money back."
This is the first time I read about a victim's parents feeling sorry for the driver, yet the driver shows no remorse. - inactive, on 01/27/2008, -9/+335Tomas Delgado is a piece of *****.
I'd be wracked with guilt and would never be able to live the same way again, but this *****......
Man, I hope something bad happens to him. - Brad324, on 01/27/2008, -3/+239this guy is a bigger ***** than goatse
- johndi, on 01/27/2008, -14/+208I wonder how long before someone yells "Only in America," without noticing this happened in the EU.
- JumKun, on 01/27/2008, -2/+167So if I shoot a guy, I could sue him for the price of the bullets?
- rmd34, on 01/27/2008, -3/+156This is a video report - in spanish, couldn't find anything with english subs.
The first guy speaking is Tomas Delgado followed by images of the 17 yr old and later... words from the kid's father (his shock when he approached the crowd, trying to make sense of what happened) and mother (at the very end of the clip).
Delgado (at the beginning of the clip) says "Thank God, nothing happened to me" (seriously! What a *****' prick!) The host of the show follows that remark by saying that the true tragedy is what happened to the kid and then segues into the father's clip.
According to the clip... The guy was doing 113 km/hr (70mph) on a 90km/hr (55mph) zone, was legally drunk and had the ABS (Anti-lock braking system) disabled.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4KP3BM0S60 - manicallday, on 01/27/2008, -2/+112Agreed. I don't see how a reflector and a helmet would help anyone being hit by a car going 45 mph over the speed limit. There's no time to even react at those speeds.
- pintomp3, on 01/27/2008, -2/+87like a semi running over his car and then suing his family for damages to the truck.
- kooft, on 01/27/2008, -8/+92I think the judge figured that if the guy had been going slower he could have avoided the kid or, if the kid had reflectors on, they guy could have avoided him at 100MPH, thus making both parties at fault.
- Ajajadude, on 01/27/2008, -5/+88I'd certainly hope the parents turn around and sue him for pain and suffering.
- Static88, on 01/27/2008, -5/+86Dugg for reffering to the driver as '*****'.
- tempfd, on 01/27/2008, -0/+78A friend of mine was too tipsy to drive, so he walked home from a New Year's Eve Party. While crossing a street, he got hit by a Pathfinder going about 65 MPH in a 30 MPH zone. He recalled trying to jump, but got clipped in the legs and his head and chest smashed into the windshield. When the cops arrived, she actually tried to say he jumped in front of her car. That didn't hold up when the skid marks showed 60-70 MPH. He was in a coma for about two months, but came out of it and, amazingly, made a full recovery after about 3 years of physical therapy. The lady that hit him didn't visit him in the hospital once. She didn't even send flowers or a card. Long story short, she insisted it was his fault during the entire trial. In the end, he got his hospital and therapy bills paid and was awarded $200,000 for pain and suffering.
If I was in that lady's shoes, I would've visited at least once a week. The amount of guilt would be unbearable if I didn't. Some people just don't give a ***** about anyone but themselves. - Ruuku, on 01/27/2008, -62/+132Only in America.
- blacklilyninja, on 01/27/2008, -0/+69A driver of an uninsured vehicle belonging to his girlfriend killed my brother's 12 yr old boy crossing the road.. at a crosswalk... wearing a helmet with reflective surface. The driver was unemployed and likely drunk. The police never gave a Breathalyzer. The man never went to jail. My nephew is still dead.
- fearlessfx, on 01/27/2008, -1/+62This dude is an even bigger douchebag than those DB kids from jersey.
- geeshock, on 01/27/2008, -6/+67Someone forward this *****'s details to Anon.
- morningmatters, on 01/27/2008, -4/+61This ***** is lucky he is not living in the US. Internet vigilantes here would make sure he gets the justice which he deserves.
- LuCiFer6, on 01/27/2008, -1/+47YOU HAVE TO BE ***** KIDDING ME?
- widgetmaker, on 01/27/2008, -5/+50I may be Atheist but this guy needs to burn in the deepest depths of hell.
- quaxon, on 01/27/2008, -0/+44in china, the family of those executed by the government get billed for the bullets used, no joke. There was a funny bit on the chasers where they go to the chinese embassy and try to bill them for the bullets they are gonna use to assassinate the chinese president. here it is:

here's the sequence of events.
(kid with reflectors- driver going 55 mph) Headlights hit kid with reflectors and light travels back to driver's eye - 300 yards away
driver notices kid in street - 250 yards away
driver's brain decides what to do(swerve or brake or change lanes) - 150 yards away
driver executes maneuver, misses kid - 80 yards away
(kid with reflectors, driver is going 100 mph)
Headlights hit kid and light travels back to driver's eye - 300 yards
driver notices kid in road, 120 yards away
driver's brain decides what to do- 20 yards away
Driver executes maneuver too late- hits kid.
With an extra 80 yards he would have time to see even a kid dressed in black - absurdist, on 01/27/2008, -13/+43This piece of ***** masquerading as a human being simply needs to be removed from the gene pool. And yes, I'll happily be the one to do it.
- megaloid, on 01/27/2008, -0/+29Yes, he'd never recover from all the downmods.
- tech42er, on 01/27/2008, -1/+29FTFA: "Tomas Delgado's Audi A8 crashed into him at 100 mph near Haro in northern Spain, an Interior Ministry traffic report said. The speed limit was 55 mph.
Iriondo was not wearing reflective clothing or a helmet, the ministry report said. As the sun had set when he crossed the path of Delgado's car from a side road, a regional court found both parties at fault and closed the case, the report said."
He has the audacity to sue when he was going nearly double the speed limit? ***** him. - inactive, on 01/27/2008, -1/+28that's just crazy talk
- jemka, on 01/27/2008, -2/+28Yeah Ok Marsellus Wallace.
- ridium, on 01/27/2008, -0/+24I tried looking up who this guy works for or what company he owns but all of the news stories simply say he's a "business man".
His actions certainly make it seem like he values material possessions more than human life and it should be irresponsible to do business with him. - Ajajadude, on 01/27/2008, -1/+24Well, it's even worse that he was driving drunk and intentionally had his ABS disabled.
- Randinn, on 01/27/2008, -1/+24Pathetic troll attempt....
- inactive, on 01/27/2008, -1/+23Wow. I am a moron; that is definitely Spain.
- jon30041, on 01/27/2008, -0/+22Don't forget a new son, and costs of living for 17 years.
- MaynardJK, on 01/27/2008, -4/+24I wonder which story is accurate? Was he doing 70 or 100? It makes a pretty big difference.
- TheOther1, on 01/27/2008, -0/+18with the legal backing of a huge trucking line that can tie up the estate in court for 30 years.
- inactive, on 01/27/2008, -17/+36if it was the rs6 then he'd have a point, but c'mon a ***** a8?
- Juntistik, on 01/27/2008, -2/+20Sorry to comment hi-jack, but this has happened to me before. I was about 10 years old on a bike crossing the street. I was in the middle of the intersection waiting to cross when a driver in the left lane was stopped and waved me to cross the road. Halfway across the road I was struck by a car and destroyed the windshield and scratched the front with my bike. I was okay and all I had to get was a few stitches on my back from the glass. Two weeks later I had a court order for the damage done to the car. My mothers jaw dropped, she couldn't believe it. He eventually won the case and we ended up paying for the damage to the car.
Moral of the story? Pedestrian doesn't always have the right of way, and make sure you get the signal to cross from the light and not let some ***** wave you down to cross the road.
I wasn't surprised when I saw this article on the front page. People are ***** *****. Dugg. - VAJasonL, on 01/27/2008, -1/+19I am sorry to hear that. I hope that man dies a slow painful death.
- rarson, on 01/27/2008, -1/+18I thought it was funny...
- jimmiss, on 01/27/2008, -0/+17You have to remember people, He's rich, so he probably has a MUCH better lawyer. Which is also why he didn't get charged with manslaughter in the first case.
- DeathfireD, on 01/27/2008, -0/+17I think if he had reflectors and a helmet on it would have increased his chances of living by a little. Imagen going 100mph and all of a sudden seeing a person's reflectors. I don't know about you guys but id probably swerve out of the way to avoid him/her and in turn crash into a tree or something, out of reflexes. In any case this guy is an ***** and doesn't deserve anything. I hope the family sues him after.
- superal1394, on 01/27/2008, -0/+17As some one who speeds regularly, there is a HUGE difference between 70 and 100. 100 is just stupid, 70 is reserved for wide, 4 lane roads.
70 to 100 is the difference between stopping in 4 seconds and 5. That extra second can be 300+ feet. - NOFXY, on 01/27/2008, -0/+17LOL. Wow. Welcome to teh internetz, RTFA.
- inactive, on 01/27/2008, -1/+18wow i seriously wanna take a ***** bat and break this guys ***** teeth, this is probably of the worst things somebody can do.
- manicdvln, on 01/27/2008, -2/+18This guy wins the Dick Cheney award for this year.
