- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -9/+74***** you, raisedinhell. If you're going to try to lead a revolution against the most active and highest-contributing users in this community, try not being that which you crucify.
- rtaibah, on 05/22/2009, -4/+60Oh and btw guys, I found 5 duped stories from only 10 stories I checked....
52 stories ---> 26 duped... - Jabrams2, on 01/02/2009, -2/+56hahaha karma's a bitch, ain't it?
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -8/+56lol Awesome! Eliminate the "Powerdiggers and get his or her followers to do the same for his or her benefit.
- RATM4EVER, on 01/02/2009, -2/+50Ahhh so the plot thickens....Well I guess the worst part about starting internet battles is that there is always a guy that has more free time than you and will use that time to do some investigative research.
Now I strangely find myself eager to see what raisedinhell has to say about this.
DAMNIT DIGG POLITICS, STOP BEING SO ENTERTAINING! - socivitus, on 01/02/2009, -3/+44This will teach you revolutionaries, the cake is always a lie...
- statik99, on 11/03/2009, -2/+43Dugg for great justice. Thanks for being a hypocrite raisedinhell.
- AzzX, on 01/02/2009, -1/+40You have to laugh.
- oboy, on 01/02/2009, -4/+43It is so easy to target the "power users" because of the exposure that they receive. Bottom line - duping is easy with the dupe filter the way it is currently. Not defending or bashing anyone - just pointing out that the flaw is less in the users than it is in the system.
- msaleem, on 01/02/2009, -6/+43When other people said 'dupe checker is broken' you shat all over them. And now you have the ***** balls to use that same defense? Wow...
- tnerd, on 01/02/2009, -2/+37So.... I know this is not the first time this (revolt) is happening.... how does it eventually stop?
- statik99, on 11/03/2009, -5/+40I'll add my two cents.
The dupe search doesn't always work but sometimes it's very obvious as in some of the exchanges we've seen mentioned the last few days. They say it's being worked on. Let's wait and see.
Secondly... the comment spam about burying so and so for being a top digger needs to stop. The people that are doing this are adding nothing to the community except spamming. Ok, we get the point, you're upset because your submissions don't make it to the front page... oh I'm sorry, what submissions, 5 or 6 or so? I've tried 100 or so. There's a trick to it like posting something others find interesting.
Now if you don't find it interesting or don't like the submitter for some reason, maybe they are a top digger, maybe they stepped on your cat... Well in that case just don't digg it. You don't need to make yourself look like a douchebag by going in and spamming the comments saying "buried for being a top digger" or "buried for having so many submissions." It's old, it's played out. If you don't like the story don't digg it. If you are unhappy with Digg, provide some constructive feedback to Digg but please don't spam the site and ruin it for the rest of us.
If you have so much time to complain and spam comments, do yourself a favor... Try and apply yourself. Try to submit a decent story, spell check it, make sure the title is catchy and the description is good and submit it. If it doesn't make it, as the saying goes, try, try again. Simple as that. If you aren't capable of anything more than spamming the comments, then I suggest you shut down your computer, go to sleep, go play outside or something else constructive because you obviously FAIL at Digg.
See, it's not easy to get a story to the front page. There are a lot of posts and like I said above, the dupe filter doesn't always work. Even Kevin Rose has submitted a dupe. A person has to be careful but if the system isn't functioning right, then no amount of carefulness will satisfy 100% of users. The tricks above are just simple starters for making your submissions better for possible front page exposure. There are no guarantees, no promises of exposure... so don't get hurt if you try and don't succeed because your first submission will most likely never make the front page. Some of you commenting have less than 10 yet complain. Well there are other users who've submitted 100's and only had a handful make front page.
So please quit getting upset about people being successful, please quit spamming the comments saying you're burying a person because you don't like them and submit stuff yourself and help add to the community. - Skitzzo, on 01/02/2009, -3/+38RaisedinHell... have you met my Governor (Blagojevich)? I think you two would get along great!

Funniest comment I have ever seen.. Welcome to Digg.. - shaffah, on 01/02/2009, -1/+31truth prevails
- SeaMowse, on 01/02/2009, -1/+31democracy at work!
- Jazzzzz, on 01/02/2009, -3/+32It's all about who dugg a story not about the story.
- dharasick, on 01/02/2009, -1/+29Who cares who submitted an article? if the story reaches front page, who cares who did it? You guys are complaining about someone else getting fame, when you are mad you aren't getting fame yourself.
Let my grave be dugg... - ha3er0, on 06/16/2009, -3/+30Sounds familiar son of a bitch?
Didn't sound so nice when I said it..

- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -4/+30Don't worry, Digg loves to open up the comments that say "-184 diggs" to see what's up. :)

- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -3/+22Dugg for pavelmah calling raisedinhell a *****.
Nominating this for Thread of the Year. - inactive, on 01/02/2009, -1/+19Dear raisedinhell,
Showing your face in this thread is going to be a bad move for your "movement". Your arguments hold no ground. You're a hypocrite and are not welcomed on Digg. Please relinquish your account and move on.
Love,
The Digg Community - inactive, on 01/02/2009, -4/+21Enough people complain and those that gave the most to this community get locked out forever with no reasonable explanation.
- tnerd, on 01/02/2009, -0/+16I am sure Kevin and his team will take a better approach this time around..
Banning people is not the solution.. but building a system which cannot be gamed easily, is! - mklopez, on 01/02/2009, -3/+19I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, because the same BS with the "dupe detection" happened to me many times. Not only it doesnt show me any obvious existing dupes (and i only find out they are dupes when i see the dreaded "_2" at the end of the URL, or when I see the original in the front page), but allows others to dupe me as well. It's one of the biggest problems of digg, and in the last post in their tech blog they recognize it so.
The problem here is blaming the so called "power user" for the dupes, "who then took all the glory" (GLORY? are you f*ing kidding?). Yes, intentional duping is horrible, but is no excuse to start a witchhunt against MrBabyMan, MSaleem and all other people who regularly contribute great, NON-DUPED content to digg.
RaisedInHell, it is NOT your fault that the dupe checker is broken, but it IS your fault (partially) that some diggers are using your story to basically deprive the community of great content and attack some decent people who deserve better. Take some responsibility for that, please! - rtaibah, on 05/22/2009, -2/+17Why do I need to vet my claim? You already confessed duping at least once...and you did it with style!
- NewsFeed, on 01/02/2009, -3/+18Did Raisedinhell really just go and post a link as a reply to ever single comment... Desperate much?
- gamebittk, on 01/02/2009, -0/+14@raisedinhell
Can't believe you actually set up a website about this... Better add your own name to that list. - bixby1, on 01/02/2009, -0/+14If I had a nickel for every time I laughed out loud reading this thread, I'd have enough to buy a pack of Newport Menthols, the aristocrat of cigarettes.
- brainnovate, on 01/02/2009, -3/+16Calling him a Stupid **** is a TOU violation and I hope Jen gives you a spanking, Jerry.
- EmitStop, on 01/02/2009, -1/+14Except you don't know how the Digg Dupe check algorithm works, for all you know it could display different possible dupes at one point in time then it displays at another.
(although I do think it is very likely your submission was listed as a possible dupe, and pavelmah either didn't notice it, or figured it wasn't likely to go anywhere)
Who knows, maybe his submission shifted things and brought both of your subs onto the dupe check page. You just can't know for sure. - ha3er0, on 06/16/2009, -13/+26Hey *****! When I said that dupe system doesn't always work exactly the same way for everyone, did you believe me?
http://digg.com/odd_stuff/Diggers_revolt_to_replac ...
I will take your apology anytime, *****! - mark076h, on 01/02/2009, -4/+16I'm a Super User, SUCK IT!
- oxthemoron, on 01/02/2009, -0/+12Personally, if I were raisedinhell and wanted to make it to the front page I'd submit a dupe of this story, take a screen shot that proves I submitted a dupe of a story about my duplicating, and then submit that screen shot. At this point the internets would break.
- nichesiteexpert, on 01/02/2009, -3/+15Karma is a bitch, isn't it? I friended a few of the famous complainers of late just to see what would happen after the big hoopla, and guess what - I had shouts from all of them promoting their submission within hours.
People, if you're gonna bitch about something, don't then go and do the very same thing yourself. It's really sad and pathetic, and it just exposes you as a jealous whiner.
Which, by the way, is what many of the complainers seem to be. I check your profiles when you whine, folks, most of you are just pissed because your ***** never made FP.
The low-down, bottom-line truth of Digg is that you HAVE to promote your article to a certain degree, at least to get your story to rise above the noise in the system.
Once the story has a critical mass of diggs, it rises above the noise of the 1-or-2-digg subs that most people implicitly associate with unpopular or spam submissions (and thus unworthy of their attention and time), and becomes more visibe to the general digg community due to the fact that it now has more diggs, is placed higher in Upcoming, and may now also be included in Hot, all places where more people look. When that happens and that story is truly worthy, then the crowd takes over and the story is dugg all the way to home page.
Do you have any idea how many stories get submitted to Digg? It's impossible for everyone to see them all, and it's just plain IMPOSSIBLE to have your story heard above the noise of you don't do something to help it stand out.
The whole idea of the friend and the shout system is that you use it to connect and promote stories with a community of like-minded people that you have organically discovered and grown while using Digg. That's why it's called SOCIAL media. Sure, this system can certainly be used maliciously by a group of people who are colluding to popularize content. But Digg has algorithms that detect this
(implicit or explicit) collusion - if the only people that dugg the story are you and your 200 mutual friends, then I can guarantee you that the story will not make it to the front page.
So ultimately, all power users can do is make sure a story is visible to the general digg community. They CANNOT guarantee you that a story will make it to the front page. Just ask any power user to 100% promise that they can make any arbitrary submission go Front Page - they will all turn you down flat, because they can't do it.
So - if you REALLY want to do something about Digg's 'problem' and have a chance at getting your submission on Digg's front page, you can do one of two things:
Become a 'power user' yourself: Find 10-20 other like-minded Digg users out there and friend them. Then when you submit, shout your stories to them. After all, if they're like-minded, they will probably like what you like and digg your story. And what's wrong with this? Nothing, ultimately. You could be doing the same thing by emailing 10 of your buddies. It's called being SOCIAL - as in SOCIAL MEDIA.
OR
Instead of going to the front page first, look at the newest submissions instead - the ones with 1-10 diggs - and digg those first. Then go to the front page. If enough 'non-power-users' do this, then you will be raising the best stories above the noise instead of the power users, and the quality and diversity of stories will likely be much more to your liking. - statik99, on 11/03/2009, -0/+11Uhm read again. I am NOT an apologist for him, quite the opposite. I said that dupes do happen, but when they are blatant (when the titles/pics/URLs are the same or a word off like with the original post about dupes a few days ago) there is no excuse for clicking "I swear it's original" button.
- ha3er0, on 06/16/2009, -3/+14@dick (aka raisedinhell) The dupe system doesn't give the same result for everyone every time, depending on when the check was done. As I have mentioned before:
http://digg.com/odd_stuff/Diggers_revolt_to_replac ... - MCA2142, on 01/02/2009, -2/+13Looks like we're the diggers who truly got *****.
