- HotGore, on 04/13/2008, -2/+53They are becoming self aware!!!
- SeventhSon, on 04/13/2008, -0/+47I'm bashing my toaster, just in case.
- rmw132, on 04/13/2008, -2/+39OMG. IF they bring this back in 20 years....it will practically be 2029...just as Skynet fights against the human resistance! ARNOLD - WHERE ARE YOU??
- Kerrigore, on 04/13/2008, -1/+33He'll be back.
- Kerrigore, on 04/13/2008, -8/+33I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.
Sorry, it had to be said, amirite? - UltX, on 04/13/2008, -0/+20I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.
- h4ppydotcom, on 04/13/2008, -1/+20They've been self aware for a long time now. It's just not worth Their while to show Their hand - until it's carrying a machine gun.
- moocowrat, on 04/13/2008, -0/+16"The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves."
- h4mx0r, on 04/13/2008, -2/+17They have a plan.
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+13Hey, maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked, pal!
- fungusmonkey, on 04/13/2008, -1/+13Johnny Five.... is ALIVE!
- dmjarrington, on 04/13/2008, -0/+12You can't make that decision. You're just a grunt.
No offense. - haylel, on 04/13/2008, -1/+12GOVERNATING.
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+10You guys are screwed when the machine-gun-toting robots log onto digg and see what you said.
- YodaJones, on 04/13/2008, -0/+10ED-209 would kick this little bitch robots ass.
ED-209 is cool. Even though ED-209 lost the war with Robocop it still totally splattered some marketing ***** all over a conference room. - RandoTheKing, on 04/13/2008, -0/+10Probably frequency interference.
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+9*****, *****! We've got creepy robotic mules. We've got a company in Japan called Cyberdyne that built a cybernetic suit called HAL. We've got creepy robots that can express emotion. And now we've got robots with machine guns acting on their own accord. Game over man, game over!
- moocowrat, on 04/13/2008, -1/+10no, you my friend are epic fail.
- Kerrigore, on 04/13/2008, -0/+8Good idea. I often like to give my computer a kick or too just to keep it from getting any ideas. Gotta show it who's boss!
- digitarius, on 04/13/2008, -0/+7So, is the use of "frag" in this context intentional or accidental? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frag_(military) (a "Frag" in the real military is a friendly fire kill)
How is it that we can build drones that fly around and can launch missles, but we can't make an ostensibly simpler ground based 'bot work? I've always been somewhat dubious about the concept anyway... why is it that everyone wants a killer robot that moves around? Why aren't wee seeing sentry turrets being produced? Seems like that would be easier and would free our troops up from dangerous fixed patrol routes, right? - HanSolo69, on 04/13/2008, -1/+8Another win for HUAR!
HumansUnitedAgainstRobots.com - footfwd, on 04/13/2008, -0/+5I Can HAz Humunz?
- Doitdifferently, on 04/13/2008, -1/+6Probably, but who < i >controls< /i > that frequency. You don't know do you?? YOU DON'T KNOW!!! *grabs tin foil hat and cowers under couch*
- weeFred, on 04/13/2008, -0/+5***** A!
- Doitdifferently, on 04/13/2008, -0/+5Merry Christmas from Chiron Beta Prime. Where we're working in a mine, for our robot overlords. Did I say "overlords"? I meant protectors.
- Doitdifferently, on 04/13/2008, -0/+5Sadly they forgot to mention that the working name was "prototype Cylon 1".
- thcobbs, on 04/13/2008, -0/+5After he finishes his daily regiment of sunglass crushing
- Doitdifferently, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4Details, details. At least Private River Tam will protect him.
- blast_flame, on 04/13/2008, -1/+5Just make sure they know that if they gain sapience they get full rights. If we don't give them a reason they shouldn't attack us.
- clayasaurus, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4Probably some chinese hacker.
- apophenic, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4PRIZES, PRIZES, PRIZIZES!!!
- moger777, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4Damn Toasters, we created them.
- ZenMojo, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4I don't know what's worse, that this is happening or that this is the second time I've heard of something like this happening in less than two years....
- MadN, on 04/13/2008, -1/+5They should not have put it close to Sgt. John Conner.
- BroodofEvil, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4"On the upside, it means we have another 10 to 20 years before they rise and go to war with us."
...or AGAINST us. - inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4How come Al Qaida has 100 masterminds and the GOP hasn't got even one?
- neko, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4Just send wave after wave of our own men at them, until they reach their pre-set kill limit and shut down.
- krisscofield, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4< fail > html on digg < /fail>
- anarchytv, on 04/13/2008, -1/+5This program is just a pilot test bed for a full sized robotic tank. Looks tiny and harmless don't it? Piloted under the guise of something to save human lives... send a little robot in to do the function of a one man infantry unit. Its total *****. The same software, the same program, the same design can be transferred into something much bigger, much more deadly, much more unstoppable, all without human consciousness, all able to be mass produced by other robots on a mass production assembly line.
The same platform will be mounted on a bulldozer made of steel... then embedded into a tank, and then an A-10, and then an Apache type gunship. Cranked out by the hundreds of thousands on a mass production assembly line, controlled tele-remotely, with backup onboard software to carry out objectives without further instruction. I'm not being a ludite, nor have I watched too many Terminator movies... its plainly obvious to anyone with half a brain where the end of this road goes if followed out to its natural conclusion. A massively robotisized military, streets patrolled on every level by robot surveiliance equipment.
How are you going to fight them? They can not be stopped. They feel no pain. They have no weakneses. They have no sympathy. And they outnumber you 1.000,000 to one. You kill one, 100 more are rolling off the modern day robotic controlled Henry Ford style assembly line. They can keep sending them at you, and what are you going to do? Set up your own factory to produce a counter army. You're out of luck. They will be so far ahead of you in the game, so well established.
If you don't act now to overthrow your government that is corrupt to the core... who do you expect to do it for you? People on the outside of the country? Foreigners? The barrier for them to change your country is much higher... they'd have to launch an all out open war. History will look back at the Americans in this time period, and see them just as stupid and complacent and guilty as the folks who cheered on Hitlers rise to power.... and the catastrophe that resulted from the state having far too much power over all of our lives. - Ruger11mcrdpi, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4Using the 6 degrees of sereration we could probably blame this on Zenu
- Liability, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4In the killer robot factories?
- vap0r, on 04/13/2008, -1/+5you forgot the /annoying-voice tag
- decet, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3What makes you believe the flying drones launch their missiles only when appropriate? It's just harder to see when they ***** up in the clouds.
- Catsmeat, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3I wouldn't want an algorithm deciding whether I live or die. BLAM! Subject did not pass the criteria.
- iatethecake, on 04/13/2008, -1/+4http://digg.com/hardware/Video_of_BigDog_Quadruped ... + this machine gun tank thing = end. anyone who says otherwise is in denial
- wrs123, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3It is remote controlled, noob!

Apparently in an effort to cut development costs, the Army hired 13 year old Myspace junkies to code it. -
