- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -6/+5No, he was born under a rock. My best friend in the whole world is from the UK and loves Calvin and Hobbes.

Nope. It's huge even in Finland.

- melat0nin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2We have it here, but it's not as big as in the US. I'm currently rereading The Indispensible C&H.. gets better every time
- dyckdownunder, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1I posted this a while ago, but just a reminder. You can download all of the comics right here in .rar format

- Dantetheinferno, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I'm only 16, and i've read probably every single one of these.
My mother used to read these to me, it was great. If you want to give your child a comic, give them this one. There's a collection with all of these in print.- GawtMilk, on 11/02/2007, -2/+3"And then in the next frame, Calvin says..."

http://wannabepoet.net/mirror/calvin-and-hobbes/ - r0b0, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5This definately isn't complete. I checked this, with my books (one of which includes dates of every comic) and its definately missing a bunch. Still a pretty good archive though.
- Patogrande, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Oddly enough, if I found this a few days ago, it would've raised my productivity.
- CapJackSparrow, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Mirror:
- EasyThereKiller, on 10/10/2007, -1/+41Ive reread these every few years since I was a kid. Its rare something can touch you so differently at each stage of your life.
- Neiby, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I just read a bunch of these starting with the oldest ones and I remember every one. I think I used to have them in a book. Calvin and Hobbes is a true classic.
- nihility, on 10/10/2007, -4/+90The greatest comic strip of all time, and Watterson never sold out to merchandising. He also quit while he was ahead, some other comics should follow that lead (cough Jim Davis 10 years ago cough).
- jmcbain, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Ironically enough, he's also got the entire Garfield collection.
http://www.marcellosendos.ch/comics/- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&q=define%3Airony&btnG=Google+Search because you look like you need help.
- acomj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12I agree. Berke Breathed of Bloom County fame wrote about how he thought it was amazing Watterson never sold out (Opus stuffed animals everywhere)..
However, he did sell the rights really cheap so my brother could put the comics in his yearbook (each student got a partial page to do with what they wished).
I though that was really cool. - izzybr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I think it's more than ten years...
- Treshnell, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1He actually did "sell out" to merchandising, but not to any substantial degree.
- bsankr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Actually, I don't believe Garfield was ever funny. Sort of like Hagar The Horrible. And Family Circus.... I used to think that was pretty good, but I don't know if I just grew up or if it always sucked.
- jmcbain, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Ironically enough, he's also got the entire Garfield collection.
- Error601, on 10/10/2007, -3/+95That's one serious copyright violation.
- jennamalia, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25Agreed. Here's is the legal option:
http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Calvin-Hobbes/dp/0740748475/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-6979448-6863011?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1187496403&sr=8-1
...of course, your local library may also have the collection, if you're not up to buying the The Complete Calvin & Hobbes boxed set.
Watch my pro-copyright statement get me dugg down in a twisted "You must be pro-RIAA, too" type of hysteria.- Gryffydd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20I think that anybody who likes his work enough should buy it (I did)--his work certainly deserves to be rewarded. Who knows though...this copyright violation might just drum up some sales. Reading them on a computer just isn't the same. I look forward to sitting with my kids and the books and sharing with them something from my childhood. In more than one way, I was *exactly* like Calvin as a child.
- jatkins679, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10Goddamn right, that jerk has NO business putting it out there on the Web.
I downloaded them all anyway.- scubasteve377, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Naturally.

- Birdoftruth, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3what I find. Great.
- KingZoidberg, on 10/10/2007, -11/+5Sadly, Calvin wasn't quite right in the head, and the strip came to a sad end... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGdO8G8tfAk
(as imagined by Robot Chicken)- theholycow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Why is that buried?
- xister, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I have no idea- I love Calvin & Hobbes and I thought that was some funny *****.
- theholycow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Why is that buried?
- rhabd0mancer, on 10/10/2007, -3/+54Here is the collection in convenient book form:
http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Calvin-Hobbes/dp/0740748475- Aceanuu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I have this, and I must say, its worth every cent... of course I also own all the books (except one or two) and all the collections... so its a bit unneccessary, but then most amazing things are....
- gidd, on 11/02/2007, -2/+2I've got the Complete C&H and the Complete Far Side, and I wouldn't call either of them "convenient"... each volume weighs about 10 lbs. Far too big and heavy to read in bed, and far too precious to leave in the bathroom. :)
Definitely worth every dollar I spent on buying them and getting them shipped to the UK, but still worth keeping the old volumes for more day-to-day usage (ie. on the crapper)
Incidentally, the Complete C&H isn't actually "complete".. there are two strips with altered (ie. softened) dialogue, and one completely different strip which replaces one about taking a bath in a washing machine.
- wontstoptalking, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1Calvin is crazy.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=9trv9JhCrIk- sarge96, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Crazy AWESOME!

http://wannabepoet.net/mirror/calvin-and-hobbes/ - E13375T, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Best comic strip ever conceived, I bought the complete collection a couple years ago when it was released in those 3 giant books. It serves as a refreshing reminder of my childhood.
- mpn401, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2Calvin and Hobbes FTFW.
- zakaf, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17The very last C&H has always been a sort of inspiration for me-- I clipped it from the Sunday paper way back then, and it's been on my wall ever since. Thanks for this link. C&H and "The Far Side" will live on.....
- Puppetfunk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5eh. I already bought that hardback collection that came out a while ago. Three huge books with all the strips.
- WayneOfSpades, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Calvin's snowmen are my personal favorite. Crack me up every time.
- Dantetheinferno, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3My fav. was the snowman who was swimming away from the snow sharks. And all the suicidal ones.
- h4mx0r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+28Fact: Calvin and Hobbes was the first newspaper comic strip to use the word "Booger". It got Calvin and Hobbes booted off several newspapers!
Calvin and Hobbes = win.- ryannerd, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1I thought that was Johnny Fever from WKRP?
- dyckdownunder, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I don't remember reading the WKRP comin, but man, that must've sucked.
- ryannerd, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1I thought that was Johnny Fever from WKRP?
- ayanamisama, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Totally rad. Calvin and Hobbes was always my favorite comic, but I've never had the money to buy the big anthologies. This made my night!
- TheNik, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Today's internet comics, while funny, have nothing on Calvin and Hobbes.
Much love for this comic. It and I have some good memories. :") - candafilm, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Even though I have them all in book form, it will be cool to put them on my Mac and have my desktop show one a day or an hour.
- HighlandsRoar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Calvin & Hobbes is, in my opinion, the greatest daily newspaper comic strip ever. I kind of wish that Waterson had written more Rosalyn stories, those are my favorites.
- sembetu, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4I would like to introduce you all to my friend: http://www.sitesucker.us/home.html
In situations like this, you just can't resist...- lieb39, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Thanks! About to google for something like this..
- ClayDragon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1wget -r -k http://www.marcellosendos.ch/comics/ch/
But seriously, buy it. Some strips aren't even scanned very well.- toomanyhandles, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0maybe add a
/comics/ch/
to the end of your URL? Do you really *want* the guys fotoalbum with skiing trip etc ?
Oh. OK. You did. - Yoshi39, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Actually you need to include no-parent so it won't mirror the whole site so the command is
wget -r -k -np http://www.marcellosendos.ch/comics/ch/
- toomanyhandles, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0maybe add a
- theholycow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1For you Windows users:
http://pages.interlog.com/~tcharron/wgetwin.html
If you don't like wget, there's heavier tools made specifically for mirroring whole sites, such as Pavuk. Also cross-platform. GUI or CLI front-end, your choice.

- Shneebly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7spaceman spiff!!
- giveer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+41As much as I'm not an Internet do-good cop, Bill Waterson worked hard to not be over taken by Corporate buy-outs and money grabbing assholes.. if anyone deserves to have his work actually PURCHASED.. it's him. This site pisses me off a little bit.
- wiihuck, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4are these like ROMs, where if I already have all the books, this isn't illegal? or is it still illegal?
- elcaminos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Agreed...but what pisses me off even more is stuff like the robot chicken cartoon. That made me sick watching it.
- wiihuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1does getting dugg down mean that it's illegal?
i have all the books, i just don't foresee taking the time to scan them all.
- funkytaco, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2http://www.marcellosendos.ch/comics/ch/1995/12/19951229.gif
- SaiaRiddle, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I love this strip... I always loved when Calvin pretended to be a dinosaur mauling a bunch of people, or when he envisioned he dropped a bomb on his school lol.
And his choice of verbage - "nimrod" is a great insult. One that should be revived. - digghalo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0Wow, that really takes me back. I think I kind of emulated calvin in my youth. Thanks!
- GoNoles, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26So tempting to download...but so wrong. Can we say "huge copyright violation?" I mean, downloading a genius cartoonist's masterful lifetime creation? Better to buy it: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Calvin-Hobbes/dp/0740748475
- gquaglia, on 10/10/2007, -9/+1Put a sock in it. Putting it on the net will introduce Calvin and Hobbes to a whole generation who may have never seen it before.
- Bender1012, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Good thing I did buy the complete collection, because if I hadn't the guilt from downloading this would be overwhelming.
- cam2009, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Come on. I'm always the guy standing up for torrents and p2p, but come on, give Bill some respect. You might not be able to get the feeling of opening up a newspaper and reading it every day, but at least get the experience of turning the pages and supporting a true genius. He's very much against the exploiting of his art (Calvin peeing decals), and I'm sure he wouldn't like this much more. I liked the searchable archive from a little back since it was for reference, and you were still discovering them on your own, but I don't see any advantage to this except blatant theft of his work. The box sets for this are amazing, everyone should own them.
- tannerfam, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0The linked website just makes me want to own the book more. You're right, there's something in owning that collection and supporting genius - this site helped me see that genius. I for one will now be buying the book!
- aflaks, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2best, comic book, ever
- melonhedd, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Awesome! I love copyright infringement!
- FlohEinstein, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1pity that transmogrifier.org doesn't work anymore - you could do a full text search on the calvin and hobbes archive there
- tekmonkey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Funny. I posted a link to a C&H archive I had online about a year ago and the digg moderators removed it after it had been on the front page for a few minutes. Seems they've gotten a bit lax about copyright infringing links. =]
- sleeknerve, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1the best strip was where the deer come into the office and they shoot someone and another coworker screams "They got FRank!!" and the deer goes "thats a big one" and another one goes "get out the camera"
- nailPuppy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I used to host an archive of this on my website until I got a cease & desist. Good luck keeping your site up now that it is on Digg.
- raphaeladidas, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Reported to UPS.
- insomniacpyro, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0What can brown do that site?
- lolwtfhaha, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I'm on the fence on the ethical issues. On the one hand, people ought to buy the book. On the other, a wider audience exposed to these strips is good for everyone. Besides, the quality is not so great, so a new reader would be inspired to buy the books afterwards, I would think. That said, these strips are probably not in the correct chronological order. I just clicked on the last link, to read the final comic. On that same page is the strip where calvin kicks hobbes down a hill while he's relaxing on a toboggan. I JUST read this strip from the first book in the 3 part complete collection, so I KNOW it's from his early years. You've been warned.
- Rusti, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Ive bough all the books so this just gives me something to do at work!
- Jrwhite8, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6That's not cool. Bill Watterson held his strip to a high level of integrity, never selling out for merchandising (which he could've made millions on). Every Calvin t-shirt, sticker you see on a car's window, or other piece of merchandise are all bootleg and go against the wishes of its creator. This site further cuts into the legitimate quality reproductions in the book collections, which are the only products that are actually supported by its creator.
- Treshnell, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1The site isn't trying to make money off of Calvin and Hobbes or anything, it's just providing a place for people to read the strips. I'm sure anyone really interested in this site already has the books (as many people here have said they, in fact, do), or will buy them if this is their first experience with C&H.
- Gamer2k4, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1The description isn't quite accurate. The later Sunday strips are obviously reprints of old strips, I assume for formatting reasons. (Note that you can take off the top row for most of them and still have a complete comic. You can't do that with the last one, for example.) So several of the Sunday strips (the better ones, with the unrestricted panel layout) aren't there. But I suppose that happens with newspaper scans.
- DestroyPoseurs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2After reading the 14th one down in December of 85 when I was a kid I spent the rest of my childhood fantasizing about doing that. Never had the balls to unfortunately.
- alakalaka99, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Best comic ever IMO. Loved it when i was little, and love it now.
- Fantom, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7The files are hosted by Ucomics. Check the image properties. It's not a copyright violation - Ucomics have permission to host these images. Bill is fine with it.
You can access the whole collection at their site (http://www.ucomics.com/calvinandhobbes). All this guy has done is written a script to access the images with an easier menu via his website instead.- aaronoog, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0So the $150 dollar book version is only there for those nerds who need something huge and tree like in their hands? Excuse me but that's a huge price difference. Please explain that.
- Gamer2k4, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1My theory would be that not everyone is on their computer all of the time (shocking, I know), and might still enjoy reading C&H. That, and the book images are much clearer and higher quality than the newspaper scans.
- replikhant, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The link to Calvin and Hobbes : http://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/
- aaronoog, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0So the $150 dollar book version is only there for those nerds who need something huge and tree like in their hands? Excuse me but that's a huge price difference. Please explain that.
- sanvara, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0If you move up the URL the entire Garfield strips are there too.
- tweehopper, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I can never not get a little teary eyed reading the last strip ever made.
- Yoshi39, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Double negatives FTW
- Homoomo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0WHAT? JACKPOT!
- newsbynemo, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2Buried as a copyright violation.
this is so unfair to the author. - BunkeyLunkey, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Please show your respect for Watterson, and DON'T click the link. And while you're at it, could somebody organize a mass movement against those bootlegged (and tastelessly altered) stickers that feature Calvin urinating on various things? I can't imagine anything more adverse to the spirit of the strip.
- jlgosse, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Except it ISN'T. DO click the link.
- Wizardtb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Please support the author... cartoonists barely make anything as it is- they are the last people on earth who should be targetted by pirates. Bury this entry.
