Amazing that Walt Disney is his inspiration behind all this.- fuzzybeard, on 06/13/2008, -6/+3Sorry to rain on your parade, but Disney had a very dark side that shows in his movies.
Bambi: Mom gets killed.
Cinderella: Evil stepmother and stepsisters.
Fantasia: Night On Bald Mountain ('nuff said!)
and so on...- sup34dog, on 06/13/2008, -0/+6...except that he didn't write any of those stories.
- fuzzybeard, on 06/13/2008, -4/+1OK, so Disney didn't write them; but his imprint was very evident in the way they were produced and brought to the screen.
- BigPapi, on 06/13/2008, -0/+4Disney based most of his movies off of children's books and fairytales. He contemplated scenes like Bambi's mother dying and Old Yeller getting rabies, but included them to teach kids about death.
I mean what kind of "imprint" were you looking for when Bambi's mother died? Was that supposed to be a happy moment? She ***** died! - artfiend77, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1How does this rain on my parade again? :)
- fuzzybeard, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1I misunderstood the context of your original post. It's been a rough week for myself personally; it's kind of screwed with the way I've been looking at things and then reacting to them.

- xptoast, on 06/13/2008, -9/+2The reality, the reality
It sure is creepy
To be young and without known consequence
This is where you do things without recompense
For this world and it's insanities
It and all of its banalities
Sanity, sanity and not a drop of it seen
This is where the child ends and adults become obscene
For without the logic
There becomes something tragic
Stagnant thought of the mind
People and the perceptions become blind- sovietninja, on 06/13/2008, -3/+7Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase

Digg is a social bookmarking site. It's not a newspaper. Once you understand that information tends to travel in waves, and that a community based site is a perfect example of these waves in action, then you stop, slap your forehead, and say "Wow, why did I ever ***** care if a group of people I don't know were excited to see this for the first time."
- dpohlman, on 06/13/2008, -7/+1this is the only realistic nightmare, the rest are all cliche. nobody dreams about a monster under the bed
- WoollyMittens, on 06/13/2008, -0/+4So, you're projecting your anecdotal findings on the rest of the world. Clever.
- bagboyrebel, on 06/13/2008, -0/+3except they are things that I'm pretty sure most kids were afraid of at one point in their lives, they weren't supposed to be realistic.

- xptoast, on 06/13/2008, -2/+5I agree with brendansheehan. Although I have noticed that to get a response that is not hostile most of the time you may use the words: gorgeous or beautiful. These nice old fashion words usually ring of sincerity and truth of your true opinion and doesn't quite hint at the "I want you to take off your panties" kind of thought.

- XHashmeerX, on 06/13/2008, -0/+2I don't understand why we still have clowns around. Most kids are uncomfortable or downright afraid of them, hell most adults find them a bit odd, out of place, and feel uncomfortable around them too.
- Sarcasm3000, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Not a single person likes clowns. Even if you're not afraid of them, you can agree on how anoying they are.
- Morgonslak, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1Clowns are the worst thing we ever invented, and that includes war, holocaust, racism, and Dick Cheney..

- greenlight2001, on 06/13/2008, -0/+4Studying for my medical boards exam.... so all kinds of obscure medical terms floating in my head! Nothing like a drunken stare even when you're sober...
- abarysh2, on 06/13/2008, -2/+4Though I can see how from creepily stalking my poorly selected pictures you could think that, but no I do not.
- tyywebb, on 06/13/2008, -0/+2Hmmm so you post a bunch of pictures of yourself on a website which primarily male (not for attention or anything) and then anyone who looks at them is "creepy." Way to go...
- abarysh2, on 06/13/2008, -1/+1No I think the thorough analysis is creepy.
- greenlight2001, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1I'm a medical student... I'm trained to notice these things. I don't think you're ugly, you're actually kinda cute, but you got the ol' lazy eye going on in two of your pictures... so, my assumption remains until I get further evidence.
- anagoge, on 06/13/2008, -3/+29This comment sucked so I deleted it. But I wanted you to know it sucked.

- greenlight2001, on 06/13/2008, -1/+4Plus ellipses are '...' not '..'. Also, it's 'it's' not 'its'. His whole comment was an English mind field. At least he's consistent.

- abarysh2, on 06/13/2008, -1/+13Honestly the only reason for the *** is that I'm at work and with the already existing guilt of digging at a workplace, to make myself feel more professional... blah blah
- mrgoat, on 06/13/2008, -0/+8Fair point. If I employed you and found out you were digging whilst I was paying you to work, it would be TOTALLY cool if you siad you used asterisks rather than the word *****. I would so realise that meant you are professional.

- sketcher67, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1That's the Abominable, he got banned from Monstropolis.
- andytandreou, on 06/13/2008, -1/+1The wolf running down the stairs has human hands!!!
and... in the fridge is a severed human head! - NJank, on 06/13/2008, -0/+2Maybe we should wonder what the monster under the bed is like. There's not a lot of room under there. Except for the hands, he must be rather small. And from whom is he hiding? Maybe the other monsters pick on him for being so small with such big hands. He hides so that they stop hurting his feelings. I bet he has a name. Something like Humphrey.
yes, I stole this from "Adventures in Time and Space with Max Merriwell".

Slice, there goes your achiles- ajde, on 06/13/2008, -1/+35Those stairs look *exactly* like the ones in my current house leading to the basement... which, naturally, is why I never go into my basement.
- ChromaVita, on 06/13/2008, -2/+42I feel sorry for all the guys on digg that have to take the exact same stairs down into their parents basements...
- missswiss, on 06/13/2008, -0/+12ZING!
- ajde, on 06/13/2008, -1/+12Yeah. Good thing I'm a girl with my own place.
- bonzaiamigo, on 06/13/2008, -3/+2pics or it isn't true. girls don't know how to use the internetz.
- DubiousDrewski, on 06/13/2008, -0/+7But ... there are....pics. Did you look?
- strikes12, on 06/13/2008, -3/+2Shes cute. But whats up with the friends. Guess its nice to be the best looking of the group.
- ep53, on 06/13/2008, -0/+3Why is ajde getting dugg down? She is actually a girl.....
- Nollykin, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2THERE ARE NO GIRLS ON THE INTERNET.
- KnytFyre, on 06/13/2008, -0/+6My problem pic is with the extended set and the corpse/zombie crawling out of the ground in the basement. My last house had only a 1/3 basement, and the walls only went up about 4 feet, so there we this gap you could look over and see the front or back of the house foundations, and it was all filled in with dirt. I hated going down there alone, just some part of my mind knew that someone was buried back there and was going to claw their way out when I was down there. Completely impossible I know, but that's the thing about irrational fears, you can't rationalize them away.
- Archon810, on 06/13/2008, -4/+1Needless to say, seeing this picture didn't help your self-esteem.
- ajde, on 06/13/2008, -0/+3Self-esteem? My self-esteem's fine. I just don't like going into that creepy ***** basement alone.
- Nollykin, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1Self-esteem was the wrong word, there. You may have used "nervousness" or "cautiousness" or "fears" in relation to the stairs, not himself.
- ChromaVita, on 06/13/2008, -2/+42I feel sorry for all the guys on digg that have to take the exact same stairs down into their parents basements...
- wayyy, on 06/13/2008, -1/+1By "creepy guy", you mean Gollum, right?
- Nollykin, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1Never quite thought about that. I can see how scary that could be for a kid going down the stairs. *shiver* glad I never had stairs.
- ajde, on 06/13/2008, -1/+35Those stairs look *exactly* like the ones in my current house leading to the basement... which, naturally, is why I never go into my basement.

- redsoxmb545, on 06/13/2008, -1/+19LOL The monster under the bed wants to play with the blocks!
These pictures are really cool.
Aesthetically pleasing. - twst1up, on 06/13/2008, -3/+50great....now I'll NEVER be able to sleep

- Evie1851, on 06/13/2008, -6/+8The cockroach one is ***** up. What kind of kid thinks up an image of her/his mother like that? lol
The rest were boring. - Ikulus, on 06/13/2008, -2/+53That girl in the photos is gonna have nightmares for weeks...
- KnytFyre, on 06/13/2008, -0/+3Exactly what I started thinking, especially with the head in the fridge one. Thats just an image that stays with you.
- DubiousDrewski, on 06/13/2008, -0/+2Yeah, but these aren't straight-from-the-camera photographs. There's alot of heavy compositing going on here, so the girl might not have actually been exposed to anything creepy at all.
- dnields, on 06/13/2008, -0/+4"I stage my photo shoots like small movies, with sets, costumes, elaborate props, fog machines and special effects make-up. I use hotlights rather than strobes, because they give me better fog effects as well as a warming color shift. My images are not Photoshop collages. I use Photoshop to finess details and to adjust color and contrast for printing."
Taken from the actual artist's site:
http://joshuahoffine.com/portfolio.html - KnytFyre, on 06/13/2008, -0/+2I don't know why dnields is getting dugg down for his comment, it's straight from the artists page and exactly what I was going to bring up. The photos you see here are as they were taken with exception of some color and contrast manipulation, so that little girl was looking at a model of a severed head in that fridge. Of course she knew it was fake, but still, it's a pretty strong image.

- rikkdbomb, on 06/13/2008, -5/+28i still have these paranoias at 15, and this is temporarily friggin tramautizing for me
- rzxc, on 06/13/2008, -22/+4This is unbelievable. No story on the Supreme Court's ruling has reached the front page. No story on Yahoo's deal with Google has reached the front page. The Telegraph's story of the Bush Administration's attempt to blackmail the Iraqi government into signing over its freedom has not made the front page. This is pathetic. Digg has become a joke.
- FiercestCalm, on 06/13/2008, -0/+11You're right, no one should ever look at pictures again.
- mixsense, on 06/13/2008, -0/+3The internet is full of resources for the news you are after - if you don't like what people digg, then go elsewhere instead of bitching about popular submissions.
Besides, if you want to rant about world politics and business, start a another ***** blog so we here don't need to filter through your whinging.
- rukeypoo, on 06/13/2008, -2/+6Well these beat the hell out of my childhood pictures. Damn it mom!
- MasterMO, on 06/13/2008, -3/+51Ok, crazy clown and monster under bed I understand. However, I don't know about anyone else, but I know that as I child, I never feared waking up next to mum who is dead with cockroaches crawling out of her mouth. It's just something I didn't think about as a child.
- yellowfish04, on 06/13/2008, -0/+5same here, but the wolf one was ripped right from a recurring nightmare of mine as a child. haven't thought about it in years, thanks digg!

- KnytFyre, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, come from the grave, come from the grave...I can't remember the rest of it. One of the women my dad dated for a while growing up had a teenage daughter that would babysit my sis and I, and she'd do all those screwed up things, freaked me out when I was awake, but the real terror started when it was time to sleep. Ahhh good times, good times.

- Pinkshisno, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1I agree. I hated how my eyes played tricks on me and made it seem something was moving inside the closet. Then there was that branch that would scratch the window when there was wind.
- iSkot, on 06/13/2008, -3/+5Yes, these all seem accurate.
- shenfrancisco, on 06/13/2008, -51/+163Why only 7 pictures???
There are 16 pics here:
http://www.linkinn.com/static/_Childhood_FEARS_Pho ...- phrenzy, on 06/13/2008, -0/+15Wow - some better ones in that set!
This should certainly be at the top of this thread.
God, the one with the old body in the basement - I've had that nightmare so many times... this guy is a genius... - kleash, on 06/13/2008, -0/+21holy *****..the first pic almost made me ***** my pants

- iMike360, on 06/13/2008, -0/+7the one with the hands coming from behind the couch freaked me out the most. I stilll fear that and what's with the last one?

http://digg.com/users/shenfrancisco/history/commen ...
I've emailed abuse@digg.com about these spammers 8 or 9 times (listing off multiple users per email) and every time I get thanked and their accounts get deleted. Sure, that link might contain more pictures, but the poster is abusing the site in the process.
HERE is the original artist's website with even more pictures:
http://joshuahoffine.com/splash.html- mulletman13, on 06/13/2008, -1/+3Jesus christ! That first pic on Joshua's page is one of the creepiest things I've ever seen.
- Wartz, on 06/13/2008, -0/+9Thanks for pointing that out to everyone, ive made it a habit for a while to report all linkinn.com links, but people still haven't caught on.
- praisethelard, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I will usually point out the people posting linkinn.com links as spammers, but inevitably get dugg down.
- Rapter09, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1Wow, it's like the original article took out all the best pictures and then submitted it to Digg. Thanks. These new pictures are far better and much creepier.
- Phasmorphage, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1tricky bastard...

- cyb3rdemon, on 06/13/2008, -1/+6He posted a link to relevant and helpful information that you wanted to see. Why do you act so morally offended when he gets paid for it? How is this "abuse"? He wasn't cheating the system, he was dugg up by other users who liked what he submitted. Why is it that big websites can profit from Digg all they want, but whenever a single person tries to do it (in a legit way), you call them spammers?
- cwmather, on 06/13/2008, -0/+3Well said.
- cwmather, on 06/13/2008, -1/+1Did anyone notice in that last picture one of those arms is getting a handful of boob?
- KnytFyre, on 06/13/2008, -0/+2You know, I really shouldn't have looked at that full set right now. In Missouri, just south of KC as a MAJOR freaking storm is rolling through. Just the images I need running through my mind while lightning casts interesting shadows on my walls. That being said, majorly awesome pics.
- murphb, on 06/13/2008, -1/+0The one with the monster coming out of the closet really freaked me out, but the last one with the skeleton holding an umbrella while walking on the rope actually made me laugh a little.

- hagfish70, on 06/13/2008, -13/+3This are cheesy and technically bad. No digg from me, thanks.
- missswiss, on 06/13/2008, -0/+2Yeah, I'm sure you probably prefer Anne Geddes.
- hagfish70, on 06/13/2008, -1/+1No I prefer Sally Mann, Diane Arbus, Harry Callahan, Philip Lorca Di Corcia or Nan Golden, etc.. You know, people with actual talent. But I don't expect your stupid ass to be familiar with photographers that have actual talent.
- KnytFyre, on 06/13/2008, -0/+2And of course your immediate reliance on going straight to swearing at, and belittling someone making a comment shows that you are a pillar of intelligence.
- missswiss, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1You are a sad pathetic little person, definitely the epitome of what a "hag" is.
You know nothing about me, therefore calling me a "stupid ass" makes you look far more ridiculous than I. ;) Best wishes. - missswiss, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1even their names sound snobby.
- hagfish70, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1I resorted to swearing/name calling, cause missswiss accused me of liking ann geddes! I mean, c'mon, that's worse than any swear in the book!

- KnytFyre, on 06/13/2008, -0/+4WHAAT! Are you claiming that as a child you were never scared at the monsters beneath your bed or in your closet. That you never feared going into a dark room alone because you never knew what was going to be there. These are impressive, adult conceptions of primitive childhood fears.
- praisethelard, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1To be honest, as a child I never really thought about those things. It really wasn't until I was around 12 or 13 that the dark started creeping me out.
