- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -2/+48Eventully, bikinis will become so small that many women choose not to wear the at all.
....Or so I hope. - AMSRay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+38Here's a link to a photo of the original model. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/29062006/323/photo/beauty-pageant-contestant-wearing-first-bikini-1946.html
- RaistlinMajere, on 10/12/2007, -5/+40I'll bet that she had a GIANT bush.
- josephbrondo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30And here is a picture of the monokini - note the photographer, none other than Mr. Kevin Rose
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Microkini.jpg - trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30You do know what Digg 3.0 is about, right?
- lorensingley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25Let's just hope the original woman is not still wearing them. :O
- rasterbator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Wow, the first bikini bottom looked like a diaper!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24I agree, I only digg the illustrated version...
- kgool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18 --- "i might have to get some and go find some college chicks to model them for me (i'm a photographer)"
Sure you are, maybe we can hook up and start a business. I am a talent scout for a modeling agency. - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17I'm guessing x-ray glasses will come out before that happens.
- GregoryHarbin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13That's a MICROkini, Joseph.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12despite the fact that she'd probably trip over her lips if she took it off, it's still surprisingly hot.. i might have to get some and go find some college chicks to model them for me (i'm a photographer)
edit: also, i would like to see the monokini.. mono- means it's just one piece, so it would look like THAT, but without a top :) - KyleRayner, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12In other news, the strange phenomenon known only as "Camel Toe" was birthed at about the same time.
- jjk5, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Err, actually Bush turned 60 today. Which means he was born the very same month as the bikini.
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Bikini anno 1946:

http://WWW.GRESSERAITER.ORG - wvdavis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5The picture is there, it is just really small.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Sure you are, maybe we can hook up and start a business. I am a talent scout for a modeling agency."
why the sarcasm? it's not like i said i was the queen of france, or the CEO of microsoft.... i AM a freelance photographer. however, i mainly do artistic and event photography. i own a 2 bedroom condo, with the second bedroom used primarily for photography (painted all black, 100% control over lighting, etc). i shoot digital (so sue me): Canon EOS - Digital Rebel XT. Here, last week's fireworks:
http://flickr.com/photos/invader/sets/72157594190632738/
i've only finished post-processing and cropping about 25% of the fireworks shots i took that night - about 200 of the 270 shots i took during the show turned out excellent, which most photographers would say is great for fireworks, which are fairly difficult to capture well.. oh, and those 270 pictures were all taken with my left hand, as i used my right hand to capture video of the 30 minute show. - LR2_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Jugalator | Why? This is a piece of history, we need a picture to re-live it. Thanks for the picture though.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Skin exposure rises and falls as often as fads. It's not always religous or pratical, sometimes it's just style. We certainly have seen a decrease in prudishness since the 60's, maybe well soon see the pendulum swing the other way, or perhaps we'll have orgys in the streets in 10 years... who knows!? :-D
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Eventully, bikinis will become so small that many women choose not to wear the at all."
You need to move out from USA ;-) - sonojacker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"-- the only woman in Paris not shy about modeling such a small bathing suit in public -- ", is an absolutely doubtful and useless comment.
Since the early years of the "cafe chantant" to the days of the Folies Bergère sort of night club, a tradition of public entertainment allowed women of the first two decades of the XXth century, to execute teasing and nude dancing with much less moral issues than today. The concept of nude dancer / stripper in Paris, was certainly different from nowadays, and there was certainly more than ONE french (or Italian, among others) anxious of using that tiny piece of garment.
Post-war concerns did change mentalities, but cultural traditions like the relation with body exhibitionism and is always preserved. - secretpuding, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i am like those brazilian girls who own about fifteen bikinis. cant live without em.

- twiztedambience, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2In Brave New World, people just had orgies with each other. Sex was common in public everywhere.

- gonzo1773, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3Totally agree. Whats the point of talking about a bikini if you cant actually look at it?
