- Pramma, on 01/31/2009, -4/+537It has begun...
- ardembiniwoot, on 02/01/2009, -2/+321serious question: what now will be the baby's middle finger?
- swordedge, on 02/01/2009, -3/+256Lets see,
he can count in base 12 using is fingers.
he can grow up to play some seriously wicked cords on the piano.
he can grow up to play some seriously wicked cords on stringed instruments.
- NMed04, on 01/31/2009, -4/+256someone should teach him to play the piano... and after reading the story, it looks like they're planning to do just that.
- Mandrillzy, on 01/31/2009, -25/+229Way to ignore the dupe page... http://i44.tinypic.com/34yw8d4.png
First story. http://digg.com/health/Baby_Born_In_Bay_Area_With_ ... - sockpuppets, on 02/01/2009, -5/+186he can still give a shocker to the girl born with two vaginas.
- soulkitchen, on 02/01/2009, -3/+154*chords
- manofaction, on 02/01/2009, -6/+142This kid's gonna rock at Guitar Hero!
- lukasmack, on 02/01/2009, -2/+121I would not wanna meet this guy online on guitar hero.
- KarlH, on 02/01/2009, -2/+111I give this story four thumbs up.
- andyb747, on 02/01/2009, -4/+103I once got a hand job from a six fingered prostitute......it was pretty expensive.
- magus269, on 02/01/2009, -1/+97"Hallo, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father, prepare to die."
- Myztry, on 02/01/2009, -11/+98Actually the child will be one of the few that has a middle finger.
I have five digits, but only 4 fingers and thumb... - NeoDreamer, on 02/01/2009, -1/+79Gattaca
- ocpmture, on 02/01/2009, -8/+76I didn't read it carefully at first and imagined a baby with 12 arms and 12 legs.
- kingofinternet, on 02/01/2009, -3/+70reminds me of the pianist in gattaca
- ajrizzo, on 02/01/2009, -1/+67I was born with 12 perfectly functional fingers and toes. They weren't the weird, gimpy kind either. But, no one asked me if I wanted to keep 'em, they all were removed around 8 months.
I think its an issue of societal acceptance. Or, at least it was, 27 years ago. - brynlb, on 02/01/2009, -4/+66I, for one, welcome our new polydactyl overlord.
- sockpuppets, on 02/01/2009, -5/+65A digger actually read the story? I find that more amazing than having 12 fingers and toes.
- Miff, on 02/01/2009, -0/+60http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/sexdactyly
"The condition has an incidence of 1 in every 500 live births" - grungegbunny, on 02/01/2009, -8/+65Evolution
- SirBruce, on 02/01/2009, -3/+57Props to the parents for letting him keep the extra digits. Most parents would not.
- Lazydriver, on 02/01/2009, -2/+55They circumcised your finger :(.
- BetterOffEd, on 02/01/2009, -1/+54Hello.
My name is Inigo Montoya.
You killed my father.
Prepare to die.
... - Zarokima, on 02/01/2009, -3/+56Well, the middle finger is obviously the middle digit, and it's a finger, so "middle finger." There's an argument either way.
- theaverageidiot, on 02/01/2009, -10/+53No pictures?
Come on. - inactive, on 02/01/2009, -0/+43This case is more rare than that. First of all, the kid has 12 fingers AND toes AND they're all *functional*. Most people born with 12 fingers or toes end up having them removed since they're not functional and they're basically a dead appendage.
- draculthemad, on 02/01/2009, -3/+44Presuming they are fully formed and functional, id say it would actually be more unethical to remove them.
That would be kind of the same thing as blind parents asking the doctors to remove their childs sight.
(similar in kind, not in scope) - Soave, on 02/01/2009, -2/+43Oh god, no need to ever move his hand down to orange.
- Ikulus, on 02/01/2009, -1/+42That's horrible. :(
- Wolfboy, on 02/01/2009, -1/+42photo of the baby's hand, plus video of him with his parents.
http://www.necn.com/Boston/Health/2009/01/31/Extra ... - AWBoy666, on 02/01/2009, -0/+40Master of the orange button!
- S5S5S5, on 02/01/2009, -5/+43Such a sad story, the kid will have to endure The Princess Bride references for life.
- positron, on 02/01/2009, -3/+39Uh... So could anybody else who was born the normal two arms and two hands.
- fluffyllemon, on 02/01/2009, -0/+36That's a deal, considering there are 20% more fingers.
- ileftfark, on 02/01/2009, -2/+35Sexdactly what I was going to say. Not really rare, but cool nonetheless. Beats my ex-roommate's webbed toes anyway.
- BossKey, on 02/01/2009, -2/+33he can grow up to make a lot of money off of Rule 34
- RLWaite, on 02/01/2009, -0/+31or maybe, just maybe, guitar?
- putnam11, on 01/31/2009, -3/+33NOO! Soon there will be babies born with gills! ahh!
- mk2ja, on 02/01/2009, -1/+29Eh, few kids in his generation will be familiar with it.
Anybody want a peanut? - megapeg, on 02/01/2009, -2/+29It has its advantages... 10 only has two factors: 5 and 2. 12 has 6, 4, 3, and 2. It allows for more creative divisions.
- Fratz, on 02/01/2009, -2/+28If the extra fingers are perfectly formed, they won't look strange and could actually be of benefit. Most cases of polydactyly result in malformed nubs, not fully-formed fingers, which is why this case is rare.
- immatellyouwhat, on 02/01/2009, -0/+26I'm flipping you off more than once right now
- Gizza, on 02/02/2009, -0/+26I bet it's a horrible reminder every time you play GH and miss that orange note.
- protodon, on 02/01/2009, -0/+25You're gonna play that piano, and you're gonna like it!
- d1g1t4lp1r4t3, on 02/01/2009, -8/+32Anyone remember the piano player from Gattaca?
- palehorse864, on 02/01/2009, -0/+23My name is Inigo Montoya.... I have no beef with you little baby.
- Jookly, on 02/01/2009, -0/+23he can make them up
- Ziggy7273, on 02/01/2009, -0/+23the one next to the pinky
- Paulorific, on 02/01/2009, -4/+27That's not evolution. It's one of the processes that make up evolution. (variation/mutation)
