- zigid, on 03/23/2009, -0/+401Very entertaining. Here's more of the conversation, which kind of has a different tone to it. (found in Boing Boing comments) http://onlinearmorpersonalfirewall.blogspot.com/20 ...
- bryano, on 03/23/2009, -1/+304"Well, I will pay you handsomely if you can find me an idiot to scam. However, the money I am going to pay you with is tied up in an account, it's complicated but I'll spare you the details. All you need to do is send me a small fee of $5000 which I will use to access my funds, which in turn will be used to pay you. You'll be rich !"

- malanic, on 03/23/2009, -10/+250In this case it may well be, but why pick holes without any evidence? I reckon that you'd post it if you'd thought of it.
Just take it as a joke, and it may put a smile on your face. At least 125 diggers appreciated it, and it made me laugh. I don't really care if it's staged or not, but I'd still give points for originality if I found out later that it was. - whytey, on 03/23/2009, -40/+219EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION RECOMMENDED SCAMMER AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++++++++
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -2/+161That exact same guy actually contacted me on Skype too.
I was tempted to try to scambait him but don't have time for screwing with those jokers.
http://www.419eater.com/
(There are some pretty good scambait traps there. My favorite one was from another site where a guy got the Africans making him all kinds of wooden sculptures thinking that they were going to get some kind of art prize.) - susn, on 03/23/2009, -9/+127you're good at copying jokes
- MrWally, on 03/23/2009, -1/+118I'm guessing those are supposed to be arrows and not "greater than" symbols?
- SawButter, on 03/23/2009, -1/+107Reminds me so much of this (in term of honesty)

if staged > still funny - Danblank000, on 03/23/2009, -3/+93id be tempted to let him scam me......seems like such a nice chap!
- azureskies88, on 03/23/2009, -12/+100I get it, copy the most upmodded comment from the reddit post (that's been on the front page all day) and wait for the Diggs to come pouring in. Thrust.
- Lynx77777, on 03/23/2009, -1/+84more to the point, why are you excited by CRM?!
- LilJimmyNordin, on 03/23/2009, -0/+82Me: Hey Freda, it's me!! I am so ***** horny today for some reason. Wanna put on a webcam show for me?
Freda: (removed and blocked me) - atm259, on 03/23/2009, -7/+82Why do people think diggers give a ***** about reddit?
- Kojangie, on 03/23/2009, -4/+69Can't believe you got 7+ diggs for not seeing that it was a joke.
- idavidtang, on 03/23/2009, -7/+70The evidence is there though. It's staged because people like them don't respond with "thanks man". This type of response is a typical American colloquial response and it's unlikely those Nigerian scammers will get it because they've never even step foot in America before.
- DoctuhJason, on 03/23/2009, -3/+66DaviDTC: You aren't very good at math are you?
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -3/+65Diggers don't care about Reddit. The problem is that people from Reddit have some sort of fetish-like infatuation with Digg.
It's almost kind of creepy. - danwgre, on 03/23/2009, -0/+58what the hell!! i clicked on the link and there was no titty show!!!
- brainflakes, on 03/23/2009, -1/+58My experience with a porn pushing chatbot:
(Freda adds me to "her" msn)
Freda: Hi
Me: hi
Freda: Hey, A/S/L? :)
Me: where did you get my msn from?
Freda: hey whats up babe, U got a webcam? finally someone adds me, I am so ***** horny today for some reason lol
me: where's the bit that you send me a link to a virus or pay site?
Freda: AUTO-RESPONSE: hey just in the middle of my webcam show if you want to watch click the link http://blahblahblah/
Me: right on time

http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U2190.pdf - malanic, on 03/23/2009, -2/+40I think that your comment is more worthy of a digg than his though. It poses a logical argument that makes you think.
Personally, I think that the 'thanks man' at the end, is the icing on the cake that makes this 'joke' even funnier. - badenglishihave, on 03/23/2009, -2/+35"thanks man"? This guy sounds like he's a 19 year old nerd, not some Nigerian scam artist.
- dazparkour, on 03/23/2009, -0/+32Here's my reverse advanced fee fruad:
I contact people in Nigeria and tell them that if they steal my money and send me half, I'll claim it back on insurance and we both ends up quids in, the catch is that I don't trust them so I want them to pay me my half first, then I'll give them my bank account details so that they can steal all my money. Then I report them for stealing it and claim all my cash back from the bank. - KarlH, on 03/23/2009, -0/+31It wasn't about anything in particular. A guy sets up a text message pay service and tries to get as many suckers as possible to text that number, without realizing it costs them money.
- dazparkour, on 03/23/2009, -0/+31You think I would give them details to a real account?
I have a bridge to sell you. - buddyfarr, on 03/23/2009, -5/+35everybody knows whytey!!
- picsectionpleez, on 03/23/2009, -0/+29Even though this chat is funny these guys are some seriously scary people- they do NOT only work out of Nigeria. I did my thesis on these types of scams and had guys from New York city threatening my family if I didn't pay them. They also somehow found out my address, which was unlisted and never provided to them- how I don't know.
I also got a handwritten letter dropped in my mailbox- not stamped... - Codik, on 03/23/2009, -0/+28If you send a text to certain numbers you can be charged quite a lot of money (like 10 US dollars), a portion of which goes to the company that set up the number.
- NeoTEKK, on 03/23/2009, -0/+27Freda: Hi
Me: (removed and blocked Freda) - dollar0dot02, on 03/23/2009, -1/+28Actually, he was not honest. He was just pretending to be a scammer while actualy he wanted to sell encyclopedias.
- susn, on 03/23/2009, -1/+28haha you got caught! bet you feel stupid now.
- anotherjack, on 03/23/2009, -0/+27"I really enjoyed the chat with him (some parts have been edited out for length) - and at some point when he was telling me about life over there (wherever there actually was) I felt sorry for him - he was very, very good at his job and had a good sense of humour about him."
By all accounts, the situation in Nigeria is incredibly ***** up. If things go badly for us and we find we are killing each other for pennies, eating all the bark off the trees and the songbirds out of the sky, I bet a lot of us would be trying to rip off sheikhs with phony scams and not batting an eye.
"Hello Dubai! It has come to my attention that my client Bob Green of Iowa has died while schtupping his mistress. As he has no heir, the entire Fluffy Corn Flake fortune is in danger of being lost to the American Government IRS. My records show that you are a person who is uh...a really smart businessman...and has lots of oil money, and wants more money. Corn is just like oil in America...it comes out of the ground and makes dollars grow. you can have those dollars by just..." - centran, on 03/23/2009, -4/+31Who says he is a Nigerian?.. who even said it was a nigerian scam?
There are lots of people pulling scams all over the world. Maybe he was trying to pull an investment scam? - neelshiv, on 03/23/2009, -2/+28If dork, reply to this thread with dork stuff
- AlaskaLoneWolf, on 03/23/2009, -14/+39Not staged. Same chat. Different ending.
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -0/+25Dugg for the hundreds of business propositions anybody named Mike Nash, with Skype, will receive today.
- mkamal, on 03/23/2009, -0/+25Excellent, keep talking please. I know some people and I think I'm gonna be rich.
Got more tips? - thcobbs, on 03/23/2009, -1/+25Nope.
