- MaruLono, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1it actually took me awhile to figure out those were sculptures, i thought those were silhouettes of people looking for the "spooky surprise", guess the joke's on me.
- alperea, on 07/21/2008, -15/+10They must have all drank Elixir of Water Walking http://thottbot.com/i8827
- Jhiaxuz, on 07/21/2008, -4/+3They're Tauren Shamen with an Orb of Deception. Just wait till they mount and you'll see....
- rpong1981, on 07/21/2008, -2/+10u still play wow?

- edenseager, on 07/21/2008, -3/+2No, Iron Man and his iron friends would all rust.
- PvtJenkins, on 07/21/2008, -2/+14That....is really awesome. What a clever work of art. Simple yet profound. I would love to witness a sunset or sunrise over the heads of those.
- dmbhaggis, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3that purple sunset is amazing
- powatom, on 07/21/2008, -0/+4Even though I see these pretty much every day, the effect is still great. If anybody is coming to Liverpool at any point, it's well worth going to check the iron men out.
- screamingjoker, on 07/21/2008, -1/+2Awesome, best thing on Digg all day! Bravo.

- chaos7, on 07/21/2008, -8/+2really stupid... swimming/surfing people might hit their heads on them or something.
- debuggercll, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2Sure, if they're doing that in such shallow waters. Notice the high tide marks.
- FLarsen, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1You can easily swim in the first one. I don't think the waves are big enough to surf on, but people do use surfboards with sails or getting dragged by a parachute-thing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sola (The article says it's in Stavanger, but that's wrong)

- fantasticjon, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2I don't know if it says it on this site since I couldn't load it, but on the site linked to directly above your comment it shows a sign saying that swimming is not allowed and even walking more than 500 feet from the promenade is not allowed. Apparently the ground there is dangerous to walk on due to muddy or boggy conditions.

- tramblings, on 07/21/2008, -9/+2I like art, even modern art. I think that's just messing up a perfectly good beach though.
- levelred, on 07/21/2008, -5/+2big brother is always watching.
- hoisonsauce, on 07/21/2008, -1/+2That kinda looks like the ending scene of "City of Angels."
- cryslewis, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1I totally thought that as well. It made me sad and lonely.
- manano, on 07/21/2008, -2/+6Site is down already... mirror?

- Radworld4, on 07/21/2008, -1/+0They are all at there looking for more bandwidth, apparently.
- ncollins20, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2mirror???
- timothy53, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2kind of reminds me of the cover from Pink Floyd's album A momentary lapse of reason...anybody agree?
- ritbitsly, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1There is no way something like that would be allowed in the states, dongers in public are a big no-no (no pun intended).
- Depravo, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Then how come we see George W Bush out and about all the time?

- CrackyJSquirrel, on 07/21/2008, -7/+4Was there really a need for nipples and penises on them?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2007/mar/09/communiti ... - Ravenlark, on 07/21/2008, -0/+4In another millennia, geologists or oceanographers are going to find this beach and wonder what the ritual significance of all this was.
- 0biKwiet, on 07/21/2008, -3/+1Looks like a waste of a perfectly good beach.
- DrLeePhD, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2..edit:: same thing as ravenlark just said! I R Fail.
- topbob, on 07/21/2008, -2/+2More like deputy-down.com
- shadowman99, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3When you see it you will swim.
- Ramble, on 07/21/2008, -0/+6Why on Earth anyone would go to Liverpool for a beach holiday is beyond me.
- Bmarofsky, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2Just a bit vain, don't you think?
- hoodmonkey, on 07/21/2008, -1/+3You probably think this beach is about you.
- Abomonog, on 07/21/2008, -0/+32000 years from now this will be as much a mystery as Easter Island is today.
- Alimack, on 07/21/2008, -0/+7A little more recently, Event Horizon in London.

I like Antony Gormley.- bman85, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1I saw this in London twice, from the bus. The first time i figured it was a dude being creepy on the roof, then i realized the second time around that he wasn't moving, then i realized it was a statue..pretty cool.
- cmp1968, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Deputy-Dog-Dead

- erichansenchao, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1looks like a bunch zombies to me!
- darthjure, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1I think some "local artists" are going to do some art called "Iron man gets burried 6 feet under the sand".
- WheezyMustafa, on 07/22/2008, -0/+0Ric Romero presents: Beach Zombies!
- 04TL, on 07/22/2008, -0/+0it's only 6-feet deep a mile off of the shore...?
"hey i just bottomed out, can you help me? i'm about a mile off shore..." - grneye53, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1Iron men + salt water ='s "Great Environmental Sculptures" ? "Spooky alright"
- Kikanbo, on 07/22/2008, -0/+0ooh this is the work of Antony Gormley, i studied him for my gcse art
very creative artist
check out his other work ^^ - P3NGUIN8, on 07/23/2008, -0/+0If i had a boat, or a boat with a reinforced hull like an icebreaker... i would just plow through them and say... "it made me feel uneasy"
- FLarsen, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1The first one is actually in Sola, not Stavanger. It's about a 5 to 10 minutes drive from where I live. Thanks to the gulf stream the temperature is quite pleasant and the sand is great.
