- Philoushka, on 03/29/2008, -6/+102Chilling? Not really. It's great photography, though!
I just didn't see a picture of his wishing tree, (shamonay!) - illt, on 03/29/2008, -8/+74it's not chilling, it's sad.
his ranch speaks volumes about how he clearly didn't have an enjoyable or regular childhood, as well as being caught up in how ***** mega famous (no one really as big as he was since) he was at one point.
he's like a 50 yr old child
after seeing this i can definately see him being innocent. - RIAAagent, on 03/29/2008, -0/+43I wonder how they went in and took the pictures...
Most of them were at night, had to sneak in huh? - benroy, on 03/29/2008, -7/+45These photos are only creepy because they were taken at night and the place seems pretty unkempt. Oh, and Michael Jackson owns the place (shivers).
It also looks like some crusty old man is going to come out of the woodwork somewhere muttering something about how he would have gotten away with it if it weren't for "those meddling kids". - kastlip88, on 03/29/2008, -2/+38If by creepy you mean made of WIN! Seriously I would love to go there and I'm 20 years old.
- acliffhang3r, on 03/29/2008, -1/+34Looks like the dream world of a naive, innocent man with a peter pan complex.
- MidgardMurda, on 03/29/2008, -2/+25Awww, only 10 years too old...
- thursdayevryday, on 03/29/2008, -3/+25Although it is obvious that the reason it seems "creepy" or "chilling" is because they're night shots, does anyone realize that for most of the time Michael Jackson is there he's the only person there? That in a ride with 50-odd seats, he's the only one sitting there?
One of the things that really creeped me out was the pic of the cotton candy cart. Could there actually be someone working there, that Mr. Jackson strives for that feeling of an authentic childhood that he actually needs a cotton candy seller, whose only customer would be him. Does anyone else just find that extremely creepy?
Has anyone here been in a theme park when it was empty, or even close to empty? It does make you feel quite uneasy.
Anyway I agree with illt that it is very sad that this man feels he has to create this make-believe-circus.
On a lighter note: kudos on the great pictures, whoever took them. If this person (people?) actually had to sneak in at night, they certainly managed to get some marvellous photography. - 4d669, on 03/29/2008, -1/+19That pretty much sums it up.
- pharekyz, on 03/29/2008, -2/+18Am I the only one that wants to go visit it now? Damn that place looks fun!
- heavystone, on 03/29/2008, -5/+21This is depressing. Just makes me feel sorry for MJ and the way the American people treated him. Everyone looked at him as guilty, even though he was trialed innocent. Its sad. Very sad. I guess the old "Innocent until proven guilty" does not count for people that look different.
- fLUx1337, on 03/29/2008, -3/+17I'm glad this thread hasn't turned into a "OMG jacko is a sicko" thread.....
I'll tell you, their are WAY more ***** up people than him, he just has the money to pay for it all.
And I acctully love the fact he lets kids come in to neverland WITHOUT opening it up to everyone.
I would happily let my kids go their, jacko ain't a threat to any child, because he is a child himself. - bensong, on 03/29/2008, -4/+17The only chilling thing I've seen here is the poster's ability to write misguided headlines.
- haeber, on 03/29/2008, -0/+11Yes. I'm the photographer. You can find out more at http://www.terrastories.com/bearings
- theboozer, on 03/29/2008, -5/+15Moonwalker for Sega Genesis: Touch the kids to power-up.
Gotta love it. - NoPantsToday, on 03/29/2008, -0/+10Attempting to parent digg users is like creating your own one-way ticket digg-down town.
- aboyd, on 03/29/2008, -4/+13Actually, I think the reason that it's creepy is specifically because he would NOT be the only person there. He built it as a lure for the kids that he keeps getting sued over. They come, they play, they sit on his lap, they drink Jesus Juice, and then they retire to bed together (that's not hyperbole -- back in 1992 he gave a tour to an interviewer and he admitted on camera that the bed to the side of the stage was for him and the kids to share. Back then everyone said that MJ was the only guy on Earth who could admit that without being considered a pedophile.)

- 0ceanic, on 03/29/2008, -4/+12these comments remind me of a joke:
whats does michael jackson and a mcdonalds hamburger have in common?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A 50 year old piece of meat between 2 ten year old buns. - Xero10, on 03/29/2008, -7/+14The pictures do a great job of showing how majestic the place is. Micheal had a great vision that he could actually have come to life, how many of you could do that. Not me for sure. no $ -.-
- hollyminkowski, on 03/29/2008, -3/+10MJ is an old guy that seems to live in some strange fantasy world.
Look what he has had done to his face... he was once very cute and now
his face is just scary.
I can't say if he has ever done anything wrong to
any kids... I hope not.
Something has certainly gone wrong inside this poor
soul :-( I truly wish him all the best but I fear his is going to be one of the worse
celebrity trainwreck endings imaginable.
I can't imagine him surviving much longer.
The horror of a 70yr old MJ is too much for anyone to imagine... least of all him. :-( - diggit23, on 03/29/2008, -3/+10they forgot to show the best ride of all
- skateboard1, on 03/29/2008, -1/+8chilling that you can spell... shamonay?
- cathpah, on 03/29/2008, -0/+6I was thinking the same thing. But, even then, there'd have to be NO security if the photographer was able to play with his flash like that. You'd be more obvious/easier to spot shooting a flash in the dark than you'd ever be walking around in the day.
- cathpah, on 03/29/2008, -0/+6yep, about 10 years too old and about 10 years too late.
you missed your window! - forumz, on 03/29/2008, -0/+6I'm a Michael Jackson fan, but I also see myself as a person of rational. I've studied the cases completely, and it is painfully obvious that he's innocent. I STRONGLY urge people to read the GQ article from 1993 http://www.buttonmonkey.com/misc/maryfischer.html . It's quite long, but it is easily the least sensational article I've read regarding this case. Also this video http://youtube.com/watch?v=3lVUvOLdg50 contains a audio clip of the 1st kid's father leaving a message to his lawyer, it speaks volumes of his and his family's character. Also, in both cases, criminal charges were NOT pursued! Only Civil, which coincidentally is the ones which involve $ payouts.
Not to say he's psychologically healthy, but he is not a pedophile, simply a naive, giant kid. - MatthewK, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5This reminds me of that South Park episode where Eric Cartman gets rich, then buys an amusement park, and he only allows himself to use it. Eventually the maintenance problems kick in and he has to start letting people back in to pay for the upkeep costs, and of course he loses it in the end.
- vividblurry, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5I don't find this chilling at all.
- cygnus2112, on 03/29/2008, -2/+7Although, I don't think he let his preoccupations eventually lead into molesting children, MJ is obviously seriously ***** in the head. I feel sorry for him, but definitely wouldn't leave any children with him.. alone.
Even an innocent "Peter Pan" complex is unhealthy for everyone involved. - DarkoKun, on 03/29/2008, -1/+6I really liked those pictures.
- TheCaterpillar, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5So Neverland is closed, is this good or bad? The whole Michael Jackson thing seems to be something that nobody will ever be able to extract truth from.
- BirdCatcher, on 03/29/2008, -3/+8Oh i'm sure he got quite a few night shots off, in the neverland haydays
- etsboy1, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4i think the creepiest bit must be that cat from alice in wonder land and that picture of the little boy under the sign '' no head on collisions'
- Jenadae, on 03/29/2008, -2/+6You're both wrong its Running Bear....geez...
- forumz, on 03/29/2008, -1/+5Read GQ's 1993 Article "Was Michael Jackson Framed?" and get your facts straight before you ridicule others. I did 3 Project on this case for Law school and it is obvious it was extortion. The man's innocent.
- dasdef, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4such detail on the rides, at least the artsy ones
- iyatoni, on 03/29/2008, -1/+5There was nothing chilling about that in the slightest. Any fairground photographed in the evening would be the same.
- inactive, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4I love how the same people that base their morality about the law (which is, in my opinion, lazy and sheepish) cry about how this guy is a pedo (even though he was acquitted) and go on an anti-pedo tough guy rant.
- forumz, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4Good call on evading a rational argument, best for you to salvage any dignity wherever you can.
- ChillHomie, on 03/29/2008, -2/+6Chilling? I think the only thing really chilling is that Jackson, deprived of a real childhood, still wishes he could have one. If anything I find these pictures sad.
- NyteStarNyne, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4Some of it is shot in a way that reminds me of Silent Hill.
- provoko, on 03/29/2008, -0/+3Not very chilling, looks like an amusment park, that's about it. Whats really chilling is that someone with enough money would actually spend it on an amusment park for a home and maintain it on royalites.
- steveoco, on 03/29/2008, -1/+4Climb the tree, climb the tree!
- forumz, on 03/31/2008, -0/+3Nowhere in that testimony does it indicate pedophilia. A strong sense of privacy? Yes. Could the two be related? Possibly. The point is, there's no proof of sexual misconduct in that testimony. Immediately relating a strong alarm system to pedophilia is just bad science.
My Turn:
Riddle me this: If someone molested your child, what would you do?
a) Beat the ***** out of them, pursue criminal charges, and civil charges
b) Pursue Civil Charges
Both families chose b. Note that Civil charges are the ones that involve payouts. Coincidence? I strongly suggest you actually USE rationale to answer that one. I look forward to your response. - lovecss, on 03/29/2008, -8/+11I'm sorry, but this is just far too creepy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tunnelbug/2208182953/ ...
- DCstewieG, on 03/29/2008, -0/+3Call me naive and innocent, but I'd love to have enough money for my own theme park!
- andersonwill, on 03/29/2008, -1/+4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDbrsqJ_2x4
- celotil, on 03/29/2008, -2/+5I looked at the pictures and I thought about the fact that these are in a middle-aged man's own backyard, and not for public use for a few bucks, and all I can think is, That poor bastard.
I sometimes wish I had the money that MJ has, but if this is what his childhood did to him and his family, than they can keep their money. The man is building a fantasy for himself! No-one builds a fantasy for themselves that is so elaborate, so REAL, that they can go play in it, without that person being severely deficient in several areas of their mental structure.
It's named Neverland for *****'s sake! The land where naughty boys, who hated their parents, went to live and never grow old, fighting against that symbol of ageing, Captain Hook, under the leadership of Peter Pan. I've never heard it said before, but I wouldn't be surprised if MJ told more than one visitor that he'd like to be called Peter, "under the advisement of my public relations people."
MJ is seriously ill, and he needs help. The only thing creepy about these pictures is that they show the physical embodiment of the mind of a man who is seriously depressed by growing old, and he will apparently try anything to combat it. Actually, he's not just trying to combat it, he's trying to get younger by surrounding himself in youthful enjoyment.
Poor bastard. -
