- Karmashock, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3Do these people ever stop to ask themselves why for the first time in human history poor and powerless little countries have as much freedom as they do now from being pushed around by bigger countries? Oh sure... they still get bumped but that's nothing compared to what used to happen. There was a time not long ago where the US would have invaded Mexico with a huge army to stop their smuggling, boarder violations, and/or because the US felt like it.
Why isn't that going to happen today? Truly ask yourself that. Does it have ANYTHING to do with poor weak countries or everything to do with a few countries like the US that changed the paradigm to something that actually is NOT in their interest. The US is powerful enough that a system based solely on conquest and might would actually favor the US more then any other country. Yet it continues to push other polices.
My point here I guess is that it is unwise to abuse this system because the natural order is domination and slavery... not common law and freedom. If Mexico really threatened US integrity and/or destroyed the US as a power the whole nature of international politics would be deeply damaged. Maybe some of the other countries around the world would try to protect it. But I doubt it as most of them are only intersted in protecting themselves. They'd let the polands of the world get consumed by the hitlers and stalins... and before you knew it the world would be back to the old old rules. Where would Mexico be then? Given their lack of social integrity even in relatively good times like these... I'm guessing they'd be meat for whatever saw them as a meal.
No offense intended here, but I think a lot of people need to take a good hard look at what the status quo protects... if it all comes down they're more likely then not to get buried by it. - dicroce, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2This image is shocking. I for one will never buy absolut again, and I will be dumping all of what I currently own down the drain tonight.
